Interesting news, because the geothermal power plant now operated by CalPine that went bankrupt several years ago has been accepting treated sewage water from the City of Santa Rosa to inject into the steam fields for over 5 years.
The City of Santa Rosa has a big sewage disposal problem, they are not in the bay area and have no bay to dump their sewage into. Right now Santa Rosa is pumping 11 million gallons per day in 2 force mains that run 31 miles up over Cobb Mtn. and down to the Geysers geothermal plant in Lake County. And they need to up that to 19 million gallons per day to keep up with dreamed development. Maybe that explains all the seismic activity up in that area of Lake County. Before they cooked up their sewer pumping project to the Geysers, Santa Rosa wanted to pump all that water up to Lake Sonoma , and in 1996 proposed a pipeline near Dry Creek pumping sewer water UP to Lake Sonoma. Lovely, since they can't use the water from the federally funded lake for drinking, let's instead pollute it with sewage ! I do wonder how much it costs the ratepayers of Santa Rosa to pump all that treated sewage up to the Geysers, and if the electricity generated by the geothermal plant actually covers the cost of pumping, and also the cost of the pipeline construction. To me it seems like the Santa Rosa Sewer officials cooked up a great scam to continue their rampant sprawl and get their rate payers to subsidize the CalPine Corporation. What do you think ? |

Perkins supported Obama, and now Obama is supporting Perkins. Any questions?

Ya know this is pure wolf in sheep's clothing. Where's the water supposed to come from for geothermal engineering? What about the Modoc, Wintun, Shasta, Piute and other tribes whose land this type of drilling is often done on? Calpine is an offender of note on sacred lands in Modoc country up north. Beware the so called "green company"
