Tigers Killed in Zanesville Among Endangered Species

They werre gentically inferior to those raised and selectively brd in zoos. They were underfed and had health issues that would have doomed them.

I want the entire group of Law enforcement who were responsible for the unjust cold blooded killing of these beautiful - majestic big cats prove to me and the rest of America that it was justified! In other words, that would mean that everyone of those cats CHARGED EVERY OFFICER THERE! I don't believe it for one minute. I truly believe that most were shot while they were just standing or sitting. Not CHARGING ANYONE! Everone say's the Cops protect & serve? They serve NOT PROTECT! If they protect, that would mean we all would never have to worry about any wrong being commited against us, now would we? Remmeber, their an AFTER THE FACT AGENCY! They respond after someone has been robbed, shot, beaten ect. Their not in a protective role! I truly believe that some got their kicks out of shooting these cats. People who go into Law enforcement are seeking an action packed carrer. If not, then they would take up another type of carrer. It's that simple. I pray that those cats did'nt suffer any, and that those who took pleasure in shooting them suffer at the hands of some other cold blooded killer. What goes around comes around. Big cats, i hope your in heaven where there is peace. And to you cowards, i hope and pray that you never have peace!

Mike, do you somehow call yourself a Christian since you mention praying? God how stupid can anyone be. IN MY OPINION the only person to blame her is Mr. Thompson!! He set them up to be shot IMO!! Shes I wish some of you brave asses could be thrown in the same situation that Sheriff Matt Lutz and his deputies were thrown into to see if you even came out alive. Fttt.. yeah I can see it now!! The done what they had to do IMO to protect the County!! Do you all not even listen to any of the animal experts who happen to love and disagree with the killing but said IT WAS THE ONLY OPTION TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC!! Some of you idiots who are against what Law Enforcement had to do need to watch this video of a man who fell victim to a Grizzly who followed his do into his home. If you search a little more theres another video of him and his wife showing all of her injuries also of how it ripped chunks from her as well!! This may give some of you an idea of what Sheriff Lutz and his crew protected his Communnity from, they risked their lives to save their County IMO..!!

To all of the people out there who misplaces there brains:
Only in America do we fight tooth and nail for the right to kill hundreds of unborn babies daily but go insane over authorities killing wild animals that none of us have any clue if would have attacked, killed and ate someone they came in contact with. With that many animals on the loose it would have been pretty hard to contain them all without some of them getting away. What about when the "poor little animals" started killing livestock and pets or even people because they were on the run and hungry? Would that killing be justified just because it was the "beautiful " endangered tiger or one of the other exotic animals that did the killing? What is wrong with people any more? Do you think that just because the animals were pretty that they didn't have the natural instinct to attack when scared or hungry? Do you not think that the authorities probably knew how big of heros they could have become if they would have tried foolishly to save all the animals? They didn't want fame, they wanted to make sure nobody got mauled to death. The lions were already eating on Terry's head when the cops arrived and he was the one who spent time with them everyday. You people are completely whacked in the head. But of course we now live in a day when wrong is right and right is wrong. My prayers are with Marian, Terry's wife and all the authorities involved who now have been ridiculed and looked down upon for trying to protect stupid people that I guess we should have just let get eaten.

I do agree with you in that i myself don't believe that every cat had to be shot. I would find it hard to believe too that every cat charged every officer. There are some good cops out there, mike.

You wnat to know something, Man kind is the most dangerous game in the world! Plain and simple! We destroy everything, start world wars, steal, cheat, kill each other by the millions around the world! That's more than any dangerous animal ever did!

You got to realize they had less than and hr and a half of daylight left. Why take the chance? Have you even stopped and thought for one second as to what could of happened? We could not even begin to imagine the outcome. Watch some of the statements Jack Hannah made in tears, no one was more heartbroken than he was yet he even agreed it had to be done. Gosh how hard is it to see this? Have you not seen all the bear, shark, dogs, etc attacks in the past few months? Did you see where the pregnant lady was killed inside her home a few days ago by a pit they raised from birth? These wild animals have a mind of their own. You dont take chances, i'm sorry!!

Then why didn't they just close the gates on the ones that were still in their pens. The problem is that the officials that participated in the slaughter want the entire world to believe they were in a kill or be killed situation with the cats. That's not the case. Some of the cats were shot inside their pens at close range. I think everyone realizes that some of the cats may have been lost that night, but the only survivors of the canned hunt turned out to be the 3 leopards caged inside the Thompsons home. They would have shot them as well but couldn't find a way to justify that. The public is not that stupid and that is the problem.

How would you have handled it please enlighten us ! These officers had less then 2 hours of daylight left ! These cats are known to hunt mostly at night so after the sun goes down your at their mercy and they can move quite where you can't ! So let's see they saved lives by killing these cats . More plausible if they had 4 tranqs and 2 hrs of daylight to have even saved 4, or even one. I guess you want the world to believe they opened fire on 48 wild animals and not one ran away. Your governor can support the carnage, Jack Hanna can support it, the media can support it, and any number of great white big game hunters and soccer moms can support it. The fact will always be that your sheriff wiped out 2 percent of the worlds population of Bengal tigers. Ohio should be proud (sarcasm intended).

Why dont you watch the news a little? Durrrh, all of the cages had been cut, the backs and sides were cut out so if the animals got put in they could exit the back. Tell me this guy didnt mean business. Sheesh this guy is a hero if you ask me. My opinion they kept the county from being slaughtered. People have no idea what these animals are capable of. Do some research or better yet why dont some of you who are protesting join up let them turn all the animals loose in the zoo, the same ones that were on the farm that had no food for two days, less than an hour and a half of daylight left and throw your asses in with them so we can see how many you bring down with tranquilizer darts before you get shredded.

You really want the world to believe Thompson cut the backs and sides out of 18 Bengal tigers pens and 16 lions pens, that you say hadn't had anything to eat in two days. How long do you think it took him to do that? Why didn't they eat him during the time it took him to do this as more and more of them became free? You have to believe they were out there milling around when he took his life, yet even after that tragedy, only one cat out of 34 bothered to move him a few feet. Think about that.

I just don't get it. Why would a man who loved animals go to the considerable trouble to cut cages? Why didn't he just open all the doors? Okay, lets say he was disturbed and maybe that part was somehow possible....BUT how is it even *remotely* possible that he could let that many animals loose one after another and not even **one** of them killed him before he allegedly killed himself?! I would love a timeline of all this. Public safety is definitely a primary concern, but this scenario does not seem realistic *at all*. Just think about it using your common sense. It's virtually impossible. There needs to be a federal investigation into this.
