The spending bill also would allow tomato paste on pizzas to be counted as a vegetable, as it is now. The department's proposed guidelines would have attempted to prevent that.
Just like Reagan saying ketchup should be counted as a vegetable.
The changes had been requested by food companies that produce frozen pizzas, the salt industry and potato growers. Some conservatives in Congress have called the push for healthier foods an overreach, saying the government shouldn't be telling children what to eat.
Exactly, so why are teabaggers telling them what to eat?
Just let them eat whatever they want, children "know" what's good for them.
Stupid teabaggers

I'm not trying to convince you or anyone that the meal program provided by schools should be "micromanaged" by anyone but the LOCAL school district, not the state, not the feds, LOCAL.
Congress or the the USDA shouldn't be insisting that ketchup or tomato paste or "puree" be a vegetable when it is clearly NOT.
Is Bacon fat considered bacon? NO, it's considered FAT.
So you attack the folks trying to limit the USDA's authority while also calling for the school lunch program to be run localy.
Your head must be spinning from changing direction so fast.
