Isn't there anything else we can do? Why must our answer be to kill them? If we spent $60,000 for a wild hog study, why couldn't we have invested some in the money to found a way to the pig-farming industry, the wildlife, and the hogs.

And if they are not killed where do you propose we put them? how about in your yard? will you take care of them and all their diseases? Think about what you said.

I hunt in Bedford County and the game warden said to shoot the wild hogs on sight. No questions asked. They escaped while being transported to a private hunting ground. Where's Cheney when we need him? I just don't want to be around Cheney if he has a loaded gun. He's not a very good shot.

First off, I'll huff and puff and blow their house down after I say "Let me in, Let me in! Actually these animals have their roots from escaping from "game farms" or private game preserves. They are not native to PA. They don't come when called and they are not social animals to the extent they are domesticated. Altho they may breed with domestic swine these are nothing more than feral hogs and need to be destroyed. Opening a season is a way to keep them in check. How would you manage a pig-farming industry when they are running wild in the first place? How would one trap them, check them, medicate them, etc? Some Southern states make an industry on them by having hunts. These critters aren't cute and friendly...rather nasty and dangerous animals. Get rid of them!

Keep in mind these are WILD hogs. Pigs can get very mean, I can't imagine what kind of damage a wild hog can do to a child.

Ummm Bacon....
Wait, lets capture all of them and create a wild pig zoo at the new Iron Pig stadium in Allentown.... I was wondering why they were so set on this nickname for the baseball team. At first, I just thought they were loopy, but now it all comes together. They had a plan afterall.

Unfortunately, he will have the taxpayers buy his ammo for him..... from Halliburton, and they chage about $30,000. per bullet.

I'm just waiting for someone to say the pigs came from NY/NJ. After all, that's where all LV problems originate :)

Bring those pigs down to the south side! We will make pernil (roasted pork) for weeks!! Fire up the pig roasting thing-a-mabob, fill the cooler with cans of Bud, start the softball game and turn up the Salsa music really loud...good times.

Andrea and others who cannot understand animals at times must be killed off: The answer is "kill them" because these wild animals are very capable (proven in other states) of destroying our native animal habitat and population!!! They are non-native, invasive, and will destroy the habitat for turkey, grouse, and deer (and other critters), which are the native animals of our forest and upland areas. It's like cancer. Cancer is quite similar to your own body's tissue, but it grows too fast, takes over, and finally KILLS YOU. In the animal world, it's not pretty, kill or be killed. Either outright killing like predators do, or like invasive animals which OVERWHELM the habitat and take over which means all the animals that used to live in our forests are displaced and eventually die off. I'm all for bringing home hogs each time I go out hunting! I'll be looking for them for sure.

I grew up out that way, used to hunt there all the time. In all my years hunting Bedford, Cambria & Somerset counties, I have never saw a wild boar. Having lived & hunted down south I can say wild boar are fantastic game to eat.
