Legalize marijuana?: Farmington graduate in medical drug debate

Charles Lynch is a model citizen yet here he is being rail-roaded by a federal government department and it is being done against the will of the people, people that voted for him to be legally permitted to help the sick and dying use cannabis to alleviate their pain. How can he have committed a crime when their are no victims.

PENDEJOS-IT'S A DIRTY ROTTEN SHAME FOR THE FEDS TO PUT SUCH RESTRICTIONS ON A NATURAL PART OF CREATION. MR. LYNCH SHOULD NOT BE TARGETED FOR HELPING PEOPLE.(POSSIBLY 85 YRS IN THE PEN?) IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THERE IS A VENDETTA. THE RIGHT WING NUT JOBS THAT KISS UP TO THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION, ET AL, HAVE NO PROBLEM GETTING AWAY WITH SOME REALLY ROTTEN THINGS LIKE CONTEMPT OF CONGRESS(KARL ROVE), EXTORTION(DICK CHENEY), SCREWING PEOPLE OUT OF THEIR LIFE SAVINGS (KEN "HE TOOK THE EASY WAY OUT" LAY), THE NEVER ENDING LIST OF LYING "SNOT BOX" OVER PRIVLEGED DIRT BAGS WILL EVENTUALLY GET THEIRS. ONE THING THAT REALLY GETS TO ME IS THE WAY SO MANY OF THESE AFORE MENTIONED ARE SCREWING THEIR FELLOW MAN IN THE NAME OF GOD. JESUS AINT GONNA TAKE TO THIS VERY WELL. I WOULD REALLY LIKE FOR SOME OF YOU RIGHT WING SCREWS TO RESPOND TO THIS POST AND TRY TO JUSTIFY IN YOUR SELF RIGHTOUSNESS. LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!!

There's too much money being made on both sides of the drug war to ever end it. So, it really doesn't matter to the forces involved if cannabis use is right or wrong.

It's a crying shame that the feds can overturn a state to crucify a scapegoat. In the war on drugs, a man legally selling a drug that's no worse than others that are currently legal (drinking + tobacco = anything marijuana can do) is not the person to pursue. The current info in anti-drug pamphletes regarding marijuana is a joke, and teens know it's a joke. They laugh over the phrase "gateway drug", shrug philosophically over "causes lung cancer faster", and when it comes to the effects on operating machinery they say "Well, duh, do you WANT to die?" If there is truely a reason marijuana, by itself, should be illegal rather than regulated, please, tell us. Don't lead people on with silly blanket statements that could cover dozens of currently legal drugs and drinks.

Why didn't the federal government intervene when the states passed medical marijuana statutes if they are so concerned? They would rather "bust" a businessman for running an apparently thriving business.
Marijuana is probably the LAST drug that should be illegal. Tobbaco and alcohol are much more lethal. For example, alcohol plays a huge part in domestic violence while the only thing a pot smoker is likely to assault is a Twinkie. |

goverment obviously doesn't know how to run itself. Especially with the stupid bail outs

He did everything right! Why do they even legalize it if the feds can come in and arrest you for something that's legal in your state? Shouldn't they get it legalized through the federal government first if this is what's going to happen?

You can't smoke a LEGAL cigarette anywhere anymore, are the potheads going to be exempt now ?. What a crock for a few morons that want to stay high on this crap. They will become the new dealers selling it to our children, all under the protection of legalization. Bull.

a man driving drunk comes to a four way stop and blows right thru it never giving it a glance. a man driving high on weed will always stop for the stop sign might be a block early or a block late but he will stop. why dont the feds focus on national security and try and find out who stole the centers from there doughnuts and leave the working man who pays his salary the hell alone.i quit smoking in 1985 for personal reasons and am here to tell if i get sick and need it i will be first inline to purchase medical pot and if its legalized im again first in line.

And then law enforcement can turn attention to _real_ problems and stop expending money and energy on nonissues. The whole point is that its sale would be regulated and there would be no need for shady deals to get it. It would also shut down a good number of smugglers and provide U.S. farmers with a new cash crop. It's just a plant, after all. God or nature made it; either way, it ain't meth. |

Yes Yes lets Legalize it!! so we can give our goverment a boost the economy!!! we spend all the money fighting it. this well put money in our pocket. you dont know unless you tried it ok. there are only 3 effects to the drug sleepy, hungry, and happy. no one dies no one fries there babys in microwaves, thats LSD. Gateway drug, marijuana not! its a all you need drug. but think about it this way if you legalize it no one is going to be breaking in your house for money, cause they need money to buy it. if we all grow it and sell it the price well go down! now i bet you a dealer out there is saying ill lose my clientel but you well double your profit cause you like a CEO before your time. marijuana is not a drug it grows from the earth by it self. drugs are made with chemicals and toxic cemicals. america is the biggest drug dealers if your legs are restless here a drug. cant sleep heres a drug to put you to sleep. yea i think there should be laws of being under the influince and driving yea but it should fall just like drunk driving. but if your at home blowing your own brain cells than by all mean go ahead. is this not a free country? IM NOT A USER im just someone who knows the real effects if you dont know the effects than you should have no say. im not saying i never used marijuana before but im a kid who said i wanted money first. if your kids a lazy bum this marijuana well get him a job something he enjoys you well understand money better and stay home more. well thats all i have to say on this issue for the use of it a a pharmacy yea by all mean if your dying or suffering i know this drug well help you thru your illness.

As far as the comment for stopping at a stop sign when high. They will stop as long as they see it, studies have showed todays Marijuana had three times the THC as it did a few years ago. The stuff is just as impairing as alcohol and is proven in many studies.
The big point to this whole story is someone was selling the Marijuana out the back door and they got caught. This is probably what brought the attention of the Federal Government on them. I do think he is caught in a catch 22 situation but he knew that when he went into business. That is part of the game with any business. He was the only game in town or for many towns becasue no one wanted to take the chance. This is a chance he took when he went into this business. If he didn't know then he should have looked into it, who wouldn't want to start a multi million dollar company. There has to be some reason no one else is doing it. He took a chance and it back fired on him. |

i dont see anything wrong with medical marijuana as it has been deemed a safe and effective treatment for some legitimate illness. i have seen it work to aleviate migrain pain even when some of the most powerfull pain killers, wich are FAR more dangerous didnt even touch it. I do think that it should be strictly regulated though. If an individual state deems it legal then the feds should respect that and leave it be
|

Do you understand what medical marijuana is? It is highly regulated and a prescription is necessary to obtain it. I have never taken an illegal drug in my life, but if me or mine were dying of cancer or some other horribly painful disease, I'd be looking for whatever helps. I would like for the powers that be to explain to me why marijuana is illegal. There are plenty of drugs which are more damaging and more addictive that are perfectly legal with a prescription. With the feds it all comes down to money and power. |

Does it matter how much THC marijuana has? Yes. The more the better. Why? You will get higher faster, therefore inhaling less smoke making it healthier. Tobacco kills over 450,000 people a year in America alone and has no medical benefit. That sounds like a Schedule I substance to me. Alcohol kills over 70,000 people a year in America alone and has no medical benefit. Another what should be classified as a Schedule I substance. Marijuana has killed zero people from overuse in the history of mankind. You CANNOT achieve a lethal dose of marijuana. You can die from taking too many Advil, but you can't die from cannabis. At hemp fest this year in Seattle, there were 300,000 people all smoking cannabis. There were police there, and nobody got arrested. The police said that hemp fest is the easiest event they had to police in a long time. Compare 300,000 people to 30,000 people at SafeCo field (where the Mariners play) where arrests happen every game or two, and you can clearly see the effects of alcohol versus cannabis. Sports franchises and theme parks have very huge reasons to get into the legalizing reform. I don't know why they haven't because it makes total financial sense to me. Someone smokes at a sporting event, bam they're hungry. The stadium has total monopoly over the consumer and the consumer would get the "munchies" and buy more food than normal. Same thing with amusement parks, except slightly different. Yes, people would get the "munchies," but people who would normally get nauseous from going on roller coasters will have a less likely chance if they're high, because cannabis has been proven to lower and/or completely eliminate symptoms of nausea. Would you rather have someone come home drunk out of their mind puking in the ivory goddess, or stoned out of their mind making a grilled cheese and peanut butter sandwich, sitting in front of the TV and be generally fun to be around. Weed brings people together -- black, white, spanish, Indian -- it's the miracle drug with little to no side effects. You are smoking the flower of a plant. It's ridiculous that the government insists on using reefer madness propaganda for the sake of alcohol, tobacco, and pharmaceutical companies who have the government in their hip pocket. |

I have to agree with part of your statement. I feel anyone in need should be allowed to use Marijuana as long as it is closely regulated. But the big part in this story (from what I read) was that someone was selling it out the back door, unregulated. He has been in business for a while and didn't have any problems, but now he is in Jail. I feel he got regulated, If it was an employee or from his direction to an employee he wasn't taking care of business as it should have been for an illegal substance and now he has to pay the penalty. I am not judging this man as I don't know him, but as I said in my previous post, no one else is in this business because it is a high risk they weren't willing to take that risk. |

You make very good points. But I would wish that no one ever drive a vehicle when under the influence of anything!!!!!!!!!! This is a part of life for some and I don't look badly at you for doing it. I have little kids and don't want them to have access to this or any other type of drug. As I said, there are several studies on teen and pre teen kids that use alcohol and Marijuana. The loss of brain cells and other stuff affects their development and the rest of their life. If you or anyone else wants to smoke it, I say do it if you are willing to take that chance (very small chance if you are at home not causing problems). But as for all kids I think it should be kept away from them!!!!!!!!!! The moral to this story is as I said before. It is illegal to sell Marijuana, Mr. Lynch got caught (employee or someone) selling it out the back door unregulated. |
