Noone has the right to take away OUR rights to bear arms.Charlton Heston would be turning over in his grave. What do they think we would use to protect ourselves,a stick?

what kind of bullshit is this. sounds like the thing hitler did when he plotted his rise to power, take guns away from folks so they cant defend themselves. in fact tha words of adolph hitler are the very words that those in this country who advocate gun control spout often. they just dont seem to realize it.

in fact when my proud comrades rode behind and with me at the beginning of the war of northern aggression as yankee troops invaded our beloved dixie, we brought our guns from home. it was later we were issued 58 caliber enfields and had common calibers. the rev. war was won by patriots carrying their guns from home and joining together under george washington who was really the first rebel.

Virginia Tech was declared a gun-free zone, and look what happened.

If we had won that war of Northern aggression, it would have been called the Southern Revolutionary War, instead of the Civil War.

those who advocate gun control are fools and idiots. they apparently are planning to do something they think will upset the people and so before they do it, they try to take the guns away from the honest, law abiding citizens. they make me suspicious and i look on them with extreme distrust.

rebel as you said adolph hitler advocated this and these folks must be some of his followers reincarnated plotting to do some terrible thing for which they want to disarm the general population before they do it.

I don't get the thinking of the anti-gun folks, other than their mistaken belief that everyone is like them and willingly talks out all problems. Gun control laws do little more than embolden criminals and make law-abiding folks powerless.

Calm down all.

Bob Levy was arguing FOR Heller, ie in support of firearm rights.

The article is misleading.

They could not show up carrying "legally".

UNCA is educational property, and no legal carry by private citizens is authorized.

It is highly unusual for a fellow from the Cato Institute to be appearing ANYWHERE NEAR a UNC campus!

Wonder if Dr. Adams from UNC-Wimminton knows about this event yet? He will be into it.

It sounds like Bob didn't get the message, it doesn't matter if he likes citizens having the ability to protect their dfamily, home , and property. We , according to the Supreme Court DO have a right to arm ourselves. Maybe Bob and his ilk are concerned they'll have fewer clients to represent if they are all shot in the comission of a crime. Bob, hint. you LOST, move on.

It is INCREDIBLE to me the number of people who move into this area and honestly believe they can facilitate a meeting that will convince the locals to give up their guns.

(But who do you think they'll come running to for protection when they need it?)

All of 'em need to pick a different issue. They are wasting their time on this one.

Doctors:
(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. Is 700,000.
(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.
(C) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.
Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services..
**********
Now think about this:
Guns:
(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000.(Yes, thats 80 million)
(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.
(C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .000188.
Statistics courtesy of FBI
**********
So, statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
**********
Remember, Guns dont kill people, doctors do!
**********
Fact: Not everyone has a gun, but almost everyone has at least one doctor.
**********
Please alert your friends to this alarming threat.
We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!
**********
Out of concern for the public at large, I withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention!

Well, of course... AC-T couldn't print an obviously pro-gun rally story, could it?
