Full story: Hartford Courant

U.S. Sen. Christopher Dodd has long had a reputation as a politician of limited means - a reputation underscored, for good or bad, by recent disclosures about his dependence on friends to finance his homes.

Jackie Clegg Dodd may only be guilty of association to the revered Senator but (with apologies to ducks) If it walks like a Dodd and quacks like a Dodd, I would call it a Dodd.

This is a great story in that it brings to light a common practice in Washington that is ignored. Would love to see another story showing the return on investment Congress gets on their investments compared to the average joe. I saw a story years back that their ROI is over 30%, but never saw another thing on it. These congressmen and women, our "public servants" are making more from their offices than meets the eye.

This whole system of politics stinks and Dodd is a big reason. His wife is just as big a cut throat as he is. Time to remove all these scumbags from power. We need fresh blood, term limits and more laws to control this crowd.

Does this surprise anyone? Our entire system is corrupt and Chris Dodd is Exhibit A. A 64 year old career politician who can't walk away because he has fed at the Trough so long. Maybe Jackie Clegg Dodd can pay off all the motgages now. Eveything is for sale in America.

Many of us have known about Jackie Clegg's largesse for several years. The problem was getting the drivebys to report on it.

If you do a bio search on Bloomberg, you will be blown away by all the different things that Jackie Clegg is involved in.

Senator Dodd provides the access and Jackie Clegg cashes in big time.

Accounting expert? Ha!

Why isn't Jackie Clegg being held to the same standard as Govenor Palin? You know, staying home to take care of her young children.

Memo to The Courant: how about doing the same type of investigative reporting on Rosa DeLauro and her husband Stanley Greenberg. I suspect that you will discover the same results as you did with the Dodds.

What is particularly troubling with the DeLauro situation is that food safety is one of Representative DeLauro's main issues, however, she never discloses the fact that Stanley Greenberg is a big-time lobbyist for Monsanto a major chemical and fertilizer company.

Conflict of interest? You make the call.

If there was ever a rationale for term limits, these episodes are it.

Dodd is NOT getting our vote in the next election. If only half of the published stories are true - this man is NOT A PUBLIC SERVANT. He is only a Senator because of the perks (salary, health insurance and connections).

TIME FOR A CHANGE fellow citizens. Vote this man out of office!

This has to be yet the worse example of poor journalism by the Courant which in its attempt to get at Dodd seems to produce a negative story from any unrelated facts. Let's pass legislation that spouses of public officials will no longer be allowed to work, period. And maybe we can extend it to spouses of journalists.

"None of the boards on which Clegg Dodd sits has been accused of financial reporting or leadership lapses. And Dodd, his wife and their supporters say that she is eminently qualified for her directorships. They say that her qualifications are a product of her work for two decades as an aide to the Senate banking and appropriations committees, her senior position with the Export-Import Bank of the United States and as founder and chief executive of her own consulting business, Clegg International Consultants".

Wow! Dodd, his wife, and supporters, all claim she is quailifed?
And I thought they would all say the opposite!! This piece of manure fed journalism belongs in People magazine...or Farm Journal. Hey Dodds...just move back to Iowa.

People, relax, I am Chris Dodd...Democrat-this is what we do. We tell you that we are Democrats, pretend to care about you and your concerns...then we make behind the scences deals.

Trust me I will win this 2010 election as well-people in CT are not too bright...esp Raising Star in Bloomfield-heck I could rob a bank in broad daylight, get caught & Rising Star would still vote for me...becuase I am Democrat.

That's all I have to say...Chris Dodd, Democrat-heck it's worked for Teddy Kennedy all of these years.

The people of CT are really like a bunch of children. I swear, Obama and I could walk into any political convention in CT and simply say "Who wants ice cream!?

Rising Star-do you want one scoop or two?

How can anyone be against term limits? I am sure Dodd is not alone is this type of gaming the System. The spouse of a first term senator doesn't get offered these types of opportunities.

People, we get what we vote for. We need someone else. The Dems should give someone else the nomination and the Reps should try to find their best candidate. Let's have a choice with maybe some new blood -- please not that decaying prune Richard Blumental. We need fresh candidates they may have done something other than being a candidate their whole adult life.

"I'm curious if you would ask the same questions of a male spouse of a female lawmaker," she said....

As a matter of fact Senator Feinstein's husband just came under scrutiny recently.

This story just more and more reminds me of the Rowlands and their dismissive attitude before he was charged convicted and trotted off to jail.

We loved the sexist arrogance her disclaimer:" I wonder if you ask the same question of a male spouse of a female lawmaker." not the issue. the issue is your cashinig in on hubby's hubris. smokeblower par exellence.
And Yes we would hon' when your only real claim to fame is the spousal connection. That is the real issue and you are a phony like Chris hisself, Presidential wannabe while the economy tanked and he sweets the banks, a friend of Angelo and Irish
Cottagekeeper.
Worse, you think you earned it. lets remember when we go to BVlockbuster, a fading company. Just cash it in. Shame on you both, but water off this hissy ducks nback.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Capricorn

You feel like overindulging yourself in some way today, and why not? Throw caution to the wind and eat your way through a big bar of chocolate, or have a retail therapy session that leaves you reeling from the amount of money you've spent. There's a definite chance you could get carried away and tell a whopper of a story that has little resemblance to what really happened. What on earth has got into you?
