Atheists are mentally deranged, insane and psychotic for denying the logical, analytical and cosmological evidence that there is a God governing the universe. Atheists should have their United States citizenship revoked and should be kicked out of the United States and go and live in Cuba, China, Vietnam or some other Communist country where atheism is the predominant philosophy.

Thats the same thing that the people that thought the world was flat were saying to the few logical people that knew the world was spherical. Nice to see another intelligent 'loving' WIZARDRY IN THE SKY believer. Thank you for the post because its people like yourself that actually helps the atheist side more than hurts them. In your simple mind you can not understand that, but its true. Have a wonderful day.

These pages of arguing and disagreeing posts are the BEST reason why "In God We Trust" should be kept off public community buildings - Americans clearly do not agree nor have the same beliefs, yet we are ALL Americans, regardless of our religious or non-religious beliefs. The point of putting "In God We Trust" is to make a statement to who? To other countries? To fellow Americans? And then what? Other countries can then sit back and laugh and ridicule and take note at how much discord and disagreement exists amongst Americans? And Americans themselves can be divided and form hate and anger between groups? Putting "In God We Trust" does not unify us, it is already proving to divide us. If they inscribe "In God We Trust", then who is "We"? Half of America ONLY? While the other half has differing views and beliefs? Do you think "God" is going to love America more if those words are placed on a building?! Seriously, think about it! Do you think that "God" is happy that some of you are chastising and demeaning atheists and non believers? You didn't create those atheists. So who are you to judge? Believers in God believe that god made all humans, including atheists, so do you think your god is happy that you are fighting with his atheist children? Do you think "he" appreciates your words here? You should judge yourselves based on your religious beliefs before you go chastising fellow humans who happen to have differing beliefs than your religious views.
Atheists, Muslims, and other non-Christians are NOT God's children. They are Satan's children, and are NOT Americans. They are treasonous sycophant hellbound PARASITES and must be REMOVED from our good Christian society by ANY MEANS NECESSARY.

100% right about native americans. That said, they worshiped GODS. And this is the crux of the argument here. If our nation is based on worshiping God, what about those who worship GODS (Hindus, Buddhists, Native Americans, Pacific Islanders), what about those who don't believe in God? How can you have freedom of religion or freedom of conscious if one who does not believe in any deity is required to profess a belief in a deity to obtain full citizenship? If one believes in multiple Gods, does one have to admit to only trusting one of them? For those of you who think that this country was actually founded on Christianity, you couldn't possibly be more wrong. Actually, the really cool and unique thing about the United States is that our founding fathers specifically rejected religion and birthright as a foundation for rule. Instead, they placed the right to rule with the people and then protected the basic rights of man. Unfortunately, many of the Christians on this thread seem to believe the opposite. What they don't seem to understand is that the First Amendment offers them protection too. Most Americas are Catholic. How many of the evangelical protestants who claim to be the owners of American birthright on this thread want to have their kids recite a catholic prayer to Mary or to a saint? How many Catholics want their kids to recite a prayer to the "Great I Am?" How many Protestants and Catholics think that Jews should have to wear crosses? Unfortunately, it seems, that many believers here think that their God gives them the right to impose their will upon others and to make others worship them. The religion I grew up with did not allow me to say "under God" or to wear a cross as it was considered a graven image. Should I be forced against my Christian upbringing to say Under God when reciting the pledge? I no longer believe in God, but I do believe that the Constitution protects all religions and it is in the best interest of our Nation to keep compulsory acts of religion (including the Pledge and "In God We Trust" ) out of our government.
Agreed, I did put forth that same argument on post 3402 it went:
In my opinion there will never be an end to religious belief, it is as old as man. Since the beginning when man first appeared on the Earth he has looked to the heavens and worshipped the unknown through his own fear of it. In pre-biblical times he worshipped ill-understood phenomenon whether it be the sun, the moon, a volcano, a comet ect... As we progressed and learned more about our physical environment leaders emerged to control these fears of the unknown, such as the Churches stance that the World was flat, it was in all probability to keep those who would from straying beyond their control or to prove the Church fallible, it was probably clear to some that by seeing other heavenly bodies such as the moon and the sun that it was most probably not flat. There will always be a fear of the unknown, there will always be those who take advantage of that fear and there will always be those who choose to put that fear aside and prove that the World is indeed not flat even if that means perhaps sailing to our doom.(19 hrs ago | post #3402)

In the post you responded to some dufus had said Native Americans believed in "God" I stated that was untrue. As a matter of fact most Native Americans worshipped the "Mother Earth" and all its creatures and gave thanks, it was actually pretty "Godless" in a sense.

God will govern in the affairs of man...that is called civilization...
There was a time when all believed in God and the Church ruled. It was called the "Dark Ages". Civilation has come far from those times and is all the better for it. If "God" intended to rule the affairs of man he should get his butt down here and get to it. As it stands he is not doing his job.

uh...excuse me lissamarie...i know that you are most assuredly an unbeliever to make a statement like that...you need to fear God Almighty...that's why america is going to hell in a handbag because of atheism and secular humanism and muslim and hinduism and buddhism and liberalism(moderate & conservative)and what ever else is out there...but one faith will prevail and that faith is christianity...a Sovereign God will be acknowledged in the government...because God governs in the affairs of man...
I question the story logic of having an all-knowing all-powerful God, who creates faulty Humans, and then blames them for his own mistakes. And if there were a God, I think it very unlikely that He would have such an uneasy vanity as to be offended by those who doubt His existence.

It would indeed be. The question you should ask is why a Archbishop / Nobel Peace Prize recipient would make such a statement.

As bad as the republican made religion "Born Agains" have screwed up this nation backing Bush, we certainly do NOT need to violate the constitution any longer and have ANY reference to religion on our currency.

Religion did he US no favors.

Wolvie, did you actually read what you wrote? Better yet did you really mean it? I know bearing gets under your skin but geez dude. Believe it or not Atheists do serve in our military as do gays and many minorities, they serve and die to protect America, all of America, a statement like that (to me at least) cheapens and degrades us all. I love my family and I love my Country.

With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
