In today's news journal daytona a story of reducing lynx bus routes. Another victim of budget cuts. Now I wonder?? Money spent on train =='s less to spend on buses? So the ppl that would use the train won't be able to get to the stations because the buses don't run in their hood anymore. What a joke!!
Only a monorail from OIA to Disney would really work. Put a few stops along the way for the locals. In a few years add another line to I-drive and downtown, but only if the incentive is there. |
There is no public money to fund mass transit - buses or trains. That is the fact. Tallahassee and locals will rob money from the highway trust fund for mass transit. Road construction will suffer while they make a "half-baked" attempt at mass transit. Thus, all transportation will suffer. The media refuses to report the true cost of mass transit. It is much more expensive than roads, but that would not support the various special interest groups and politicians that are trying to cash-in on rail transit and the tax dollars they can get. I am one Floridian that cannot afford to pay more taxes. |

This entire project screams corruption and unfortunately commuter rail was the catalyst (or scape goat) for the bigger picture. The overall scheme involves: 1)CSX ILC/Intermodel 2)Building more toll roads (Heartland Parkway, Polk Parkway Extension, Central Polk Parkway) to support the infrastructure for CSX. 3)Land Development in the Heartland (figure out which politicians own land along the route of the proposed roads that stand to gain billions; most of which wanted commuter rail to pass). 4)International Cargo Airport (in the middle of nowhere) along the route of the Heartland. I won't even begin to go into details but like I stated, this deal is bigger than commuter rail. This is all public information. Maybe everyone should take a step back and look at the entire puzzle instead of their own little piece. |

Most of our "fools" live in Winter Park. Commuter rail is a worthless boondoggle. Winter Park is a community of idiots. |

WHY HAVEN'T WE HEARD ABOUT OTHER SOLUTIONS TO THE MASS TRANSIT PROBLEM.
COULD IT BE THE ELECTED DON'T WANT US TO KNOW WHAT IS AVAILABLE. OR ARE THEY GETTING PAID BY THE SPECIAL INTERESTS TO COVER IT UP? A BETTER BUS SYSTEM IS WHAT CENTRAL FLORIDA NEEDS AND MAYBE LYNX IS GETTING SMALLER BUSES TO IMPLEMENT THE BUS-HUB SYSTEM. Wouldn;t that be something, actually improving the bus service. I won't hold my breath, I submitted the Bus-Hub system before the defeat of Mobility 20/20 and the Commissioners and Crotty voted to spend $44 million more on consultants, instead of improving the bus service. I believe they violated the Constitution and its Honest intent. |

Hey Scambuster (and any one else interested)! Sean's over in another article claiming no one was willing to debate him!!!

More and more of the truth is coming out now after the fact... it is indeed a "corporate welfare" bill for CSX. The total cost (never really before dicussed) is 1.25 Billion. The STATE would pay to "double track" the A-line in the area of the "purchased corridor" (see they are NOT buying an existing track, just purchasing the corridor).
See this link: http://www.theledger.com/article/20080529/NEW... So, I repeat, the CSX "deal" in it's current form is NOT a good deal. |

You still feel that way today 10/06/2008. Time sure has had a funny way of turning out against you. |
On 10/06/2008 we now see this poster's real motive was to in engage along with his group Charlie Klein & Dee Dee C. in spreading as much disinformation as possible about Central Florida Rail. It was a real shame that this group which tried so hard to attack me failed. They failed because they had to use falsehoods & misinformation. Yet in the end the failure of their campaign has yielded something much more important. A Community seeing through the falsehoods of Lakeland's campaign group here and working twice as hard to make sure the Orlando Community has what it needs. Central Florida Rail |
Hey Barney, Why did you choose to hide here instead of coming into the article. You sure loved to provoke false attack's huh? Barney, I always knew directly who you were. I knew people in Lakeland to. Your friends told me you where a disappointment on many levels. I really felt sad for you because you have had a hard life. But I can see by the way you had to carry yourself many of your problems are directly because you have no values at all. You will find happiness in life when you find values. |
On 10/06/2008 Almost everything you said on this post turned out to be true. You knew the true because you where telling the public what you where doing. This almost perfectly details the campaign of misinformation you started on Central Florida Rail. On 10/06/08 The Orlando Sentinel has disproved over 5 months time, just about everything that Dockery & you spread. Amtrak publicly said they want nothing to do with your commuter rail ideas. Many, Many examples of the Liability Issue are out in the open. Just about every wall put up has come down. CFR is good for the Orlando Community. I always said in Apr. 2008, May 2008, June 2008, & July 2008 that CFR was coming. Now pieces are in place that ensure it. Maybe you will find a way to work with the community instead of against. Time has now shown who the victor was, CFR is on the way. Your down fall was the lies you had to use. |
I sure hope you plan to pay for the CFR boondoggle with your own money, not mine and not those who have no use for or plans to use this abject waste of precious money. |
No problem. If you'd like to pay more in taxes be my guest. I'd rather keep my paycheck. |
My platform is for the Fair Tax, and abolish the presentr income tax. I loathe taxes and fees and believe that 50% of taxes imposed today at all levels of government is wasted money that should never have been confiscated. |
Yea, some of my tax money will go to it. I have no problem with that, something good to the Orlando Community. While we are talking about it. How much money do you make? In Palm Beach County we have the highest gas taxes, so it's more South Florida Funds going to it then your money or gas taxes coming out of Orlando. Look here, a suggestion you personally don't want your money going to it. Stop working & stop putting fuel in your gas tank. No funds you personally make will go to it and you have no more complains. Now I betting, my self along with my friends in Palm Beach, make more money than you, so if that's the case. Our tax dollars are fine for Central Florida Rail. Are you going to attempt to tell me where my funds should go!!!!!!!!!! |
I'm not telling you, a south Floridian, where to invest your money. I'm saying that I don't want my money subsidizing some boondoggle rail system that serves few, costs a kings' ransom to capitalize, operate and maintain, and that I will never patronize. |
I'm a accountant, as such let me tell you that your platform really does not make a lot of sense. One you live in a state without it's own Income Tax. Try living in a State that does have Income Tax + the same other taxes we have than make a sound argument, why you don't fair better here. I know you will be hard pressed to make that argument! Two if 50% of taxes were done away with how do a lot of Social Services get paid for? Try thinking of 50% less Social Security, do you really think that you could sell that plan to anyone? If your on Social Security right now here's something else for you to consider. I'm paying for your retirement right now, so your tax dollars are actually my tax dollars. I make 30 to 50 % more than my counterpart did 30 to 40 years ago. So I am actually paying more in Social Security & for your retirement than you did when you worked. Would you really want to lose that? I think you need to think your platform through a little more. One more thing how does your platform have anything to do with Central Florida Rail? |
Yea, we are not talking about a funds investment we are talking about Tax Dollars. I understand you don't want your money subsidizing Central Florida Rail (boondoggle is a backwards & uneducated term). From this day forward if you don't want your tax dollars going to Central Florida Rail, stop working, stop putting fuel in your car. Your money will no longer be going to Central Florida Rail. My friend & client who makes $600,000.00 a year does want his tax dollars going to Central Florida Rail & Tri-Rail. Does your tax dollars match his? If he is okay with his tax dollars going to something he sees as a benefit to the community. Who you are to tell him his tax dollars should not end up going to benefit something he wants his tax dollars to benefit. |
First, the term "boondoggle" is valid and current. If you don't believe me, check the Wikipedia web site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boondoggle_ (project) Part of what makes this country great is the freedom of expression. Regardless of my earnings, I prefer not to have any dollar wasted in supporting a boondoggle like commuter rail when only a few percent of the commuting public is projected to utilize it, especially when you consider its startup cost (capitalization), operating and maintenance. Maybe you and your friends don't mind having your hard-earned money blown on a ill-used public make-work project, but I do. Then again, maybe you and your friends have somethig to gain by the project going forward? Maybe you're going to reap benefit from the sale of land or win a lucrative construction contract? |
