McCain Gets History Of The Surge Wrong, CBS Doesn't Air Footage

During a CBS interview on Tuesday, John McCain made a stone cold error on a subject about which he claims expert knowledge: the "surge" strategy in Iraq. In an interview with anchor Katie Couric, the Arizona Republican said, inaccurately, that the surge strategy was responsible for the much-touted "Anbar Awakening," in which Sunni sheiks turned against Al Qaeda, helping in turn to reduce violence in the country.

Sounds like Bush to me... taking credit and commenting on something that he doesn't really understand as much as he claims he does.

But to be fair, he is a old man and he might be having some wiring problems.

2 things after watching the video posted at the bottom of the article:
1) When did Petraeus get put among the ranks of the best US generals in history?
2) Iran and Iraq are going to always be in proximity of one another, so how are we EVER going to decrease Iranian influence?

Yeah, and the networks showed the Obama 57 states gaffe, too, didn't they.... oh wait, they didn't.

Instead, Chis Matthews felt a tingling down his leg.

Actually, last week, none of the networks aired a comment made by Obama in Colorado saying that he wanted to spend a budget equal to that of the U.S. military on youth work programs.

"Liberal" is the right word for the media. Ask John McCain about his New York Times column which didn't air yesterday. Ask Obama why each of the networks is sending its anchor to cover Obama's trip (several didn't send even reporters with McCain for his three international trips). Ask why Obama has gotten more than 60 percent coverage after the primary, just as Democratic candidates combined did during and before the primaries.

It's ridiculous to think the media is not liberal, with the obvious exceptions of FOX News (1/25 of nightly viewership) and talk radio, which Nancy Pelosi recently went on record as trying to squelch (through the Fairness Doctrine).

Argue with that.

Obama said today that he still would not support the surge if he had to do it over again. Saved countless American and Iraqi lives, but he would still not support it. I think I will stick with McCain. He may be old and senile, but he is not Obama.

1. When he was able to put an end to the civil war in Iraq. 2.Should we say the same about Tawain/China, North/South Korea, Israel/Syria? I guess we should just all give up now.

Obama should run commercials of McCain lecturing people about the issues of the day.

The more McCain talks, the more obvious it is he's not up to the job of President. The American people will see it.

And all the GOP spinners, bloggers, and talk show wannabes cannot make McCain into something he will never be.

Tour invoice will arrive shortly Republicans...

I wish I could believe that. Nearly fifty percent of the American people voted for Bush in 2004 after having four years to see that he was not fit for the job. It wasn't until well into his second term that most of them figured that out. And Bush made a fool of himself by opening his mouth repeatedly. Books full of Bushisms have been written:

Once again, recent history contradicts this. Most Americans still think Bush is a Bible reading cowboy rancher. Pure spin. Nobody's seen Bush's Bible since the 2004 election, and Bush doesn't have a clue what to do with a horse or what to do on a ranch beside clear weeds. He's an Ivy League brat (Harvard and Yale) born to a Connecticut blue blood family. America still has no idea:

From Wikipedia:

"Bush attended the all-boys school Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, where he played baseball and during his senior year was the head cheerleader. Following in his father's footsteps, Bush attended Yale University, where he received a Bachelor's degree in history in 1968.As a college senior, Bush became a member of the secretive Skull and Bones society.[He] attend[ed] Harvard Business School."

If anything, the lessons of recent history have taught us that the American voter is largely uninformed and easily deceived. I wish it were otherwise. So, with all due respect, I have no reason to believe as you do that "[t]he American people will see" anything or that the liberal media (LOL) "cannot make McCain into something he will never be" using exactly the same techniques that they did with Bush.

Better luck to America this time. But frankly, even though Obama is leading in the polls and is the slight favorite to win at this time, I'd like to bet money that after four months of Obama bashing and McCain coddling such as is alluded to by this article that McCain wins.

Obama is a fraud. The man still claims he would not vote for the surge and yet will say it worked. that makes no sense. Also the prime minister of Iraq's press secretary came out and said that this whole troop withdrawl thing that supposedly was agreed upon with him and Obama wasn't the case and that there was a language breakdown that must be why Obama thought that. Also why is noone talking about how someone besides the president is over there trying to make agreements with other countries during time of war. You can't just have random people trying to make agreements with foreign leaders. This guy is a joke but thank God people are finaly seeing him for his terrible judgement(his terrorists, and anti american friends)his lies, and his constant flip flops on all issues to attempt to appease everyone including terrorists. Nothing wrong with flip flopping if you made a mistake or were wrong i am fine witht hat i wouldn't want someone to be stubborn and just stick with their wrong idea to prove a point but he is doing it every day to appease each side.troops for Mccain 08'

A better way to save lives is to pull them all out period. If it was up to McCain this war would go on for 100 years.

the media needs ratings, Obama = ratings, mccain = no ratings.

People that support Obama love to see hime, people that hate Obama tune in to see him also, as is proven by this thread, this thread is about McCains gaffe, instead most the anti Obama people dont even mention McCain proving that everyone is waiting to see Obamas next move.

Fox news talks more about Obama than McCain also.

Is that like when Obama "mis spoke" and said the US has 57 "states"? Screw you liberals. Obama's a jerk. Then Obama says he wouldn't vote for the surge, and in fact doesn't even give the surge credit on Nightline, he says the tribes did it all. What a retard.

And Mark from Rochester you're an idiot. We still have troops in Germany from WWII, but are we at war there fool? That's all McCain is talking about. And your boy genius Obama wants to run off and put a bunch more troops in Afghanistan. So will that bother you? You probably think we should disband the military altogether.
