All that would need to be done is to prevent massive loans to already failing companies that have provided millions of dollars to the Obama campaign, which would mean most of them.

Why not for all energy companies? This sounds like a proposal funneled over to the GOP by the Oil and Gas industry lobbyist.

Cut em all out. If we did that equally everybody would have to sink or swim on their own efforts. Pull those $4 Billion in subsidies away from the, 6 Month earning of $138 Billion in profits Oil Companies. Why in a stale economy for wage earners should their tax money be used to prop up already profitable Oil Companies?

What a MORON - Compare oil and gas subsidies to spur risky exploration with massive fraud to a bogus company that happened to give millions of dollars to Obama's campaign.
Look it up, the board of directors of Solyndra is on the who's who of tje Obama butt kissing list.
You are a true democrat - i.e. a Jackass.

The top three U.S. oil companies alone paid $42.8 billion in income taxes in 2010, according to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

How much did 'ol John Kerry pay? Ted Turner and Robert Redford recieve massive tax breaks because they have a pile of compost on their ranches. Get them to pay THEIR fare share and we'll talk.

Your own article says they did pay taxes, in the millions brainiac! However, if it's left to you liberals and they can't make a profit, then they close shop and we'll all be walking. You won't even be able to ride a bus, have plastic items, or anything else made in the petroleum industry. Hope you have a horse and wagon, meathead.

GE Capital that keeps the overall tax bill so low. Over the last two years, GE Capital has displayed an uncanny ability to lose lots of money in the U.S.(posting a $6.5 billion loss in 2009), and make lots of money overseas (a $4.3 billion gain). Not only do the U.S. losses balance out the overseas gains, but GE can defer taxes on that overseas income indefinitely. The timing of big deductions for depreciation in GE Capital's equipment leasing business also provides a tax benefit, as will loan losses left over from the credit crunch.

Who's the major stockholder in GE capital??????????

George Soros, nobama's main contributor. Hang in there, sunshine.

But giving billions to 'green' companies like Solyndra saves the planet AND buys votes. A win - win.

Not one of those green energy companes that we invested billions of dollars in survived. They were total failures, and the people who wasted all that money never even said thank you. The President should at least ackowledge how stupid the investments were, and promise never to do that again. And he wants to be reelected? Fat chance.
