Actually based on what they were ORIGINALLY INTENDED to be, yes they are. The problem with these programs is people believe them to be their PRIMARY MEDICAL AND RETIREMENT PLANS! That is NOT what they were originally intended to be. They were intended to SUPPLEMENT plans you already had. Fact is EVERY society has a degree of socialism to it. We all need police, fire, and other social services, but those are not the services that cause the problems. It is when gov't uses medical and retirement programs like medicare and SS to maniplulate our behavior that it becomes a problem. What's sad is there are Americans that are so dependent on these programs that the mere mention of any reform to them, even reforms to keep them solvent for future generations, sends them into a tailspin. I do not believe gov't should be allowed to use any program to manipulate our behavior one way or the other. I also believe Americans should take more individual responsibility for their lives and be more self reliant so as not to be so dependent on these programs. We were meant to live free. Being dependent on gov't to the degree we have allowed ourselves to become is NOT how we were intended to live. Tea Party 2012!

Better dead than red! That once meant something, defiance against gov't dependence. Now so many have become so dependent on gov't for so much, it's more like better red than dead. Dependence is not a traditional American value. Tea Party 2012!

So to recite anything anyone else says automatically makes you the same as that person, even if you agree with it? doesn't matter anyway, as far as you're concerned I'm a Tea Partier, so I'm already a Nazi right? Still better dead than red. Again I restate my previous belief that it is a shame so many Americans are so dependent on gov't for their needs. Those programs were never intended to be the PRIMARY sources of American care and retirement. You're right, I believe gov't AS IT EXIST TODAY, IS EVIL! I believe AS IT EXISTS TODAY it takes people's sense of self worth and dignity and makes them dependent on it for their needs. There was a time when people would not take a gov't handout, because you were to proud and self reliant to do so. You were TAUGHT better than that. Now it's a badge of honor, and I blame gov't for it. Tea Party 2012!

Damn right they won't vote against it! Too many have been made to be DEPENDENT ON IT! I may not have to take it, but I damn sure have to pay for it! If I could forfeit what I have in both now and put what I've been FORCED BY LAW to put into those plans into my own. I'd do it so fast it would make your head spin! If there is a way to do that I'm begging you send me the info so I can get started doing it NOW! Tea Party 2012!

The problem is that some people are confused at what an entitlement is. MediCARE and Social Security are entitlements. They are entitled because they were paid into by the recipient. Where as MediCAID and welfare are government programs for people who don't pay into. They just sit and take away from those who pay. When you have more takers that those paying in you have what we have now. No one is saying to stop MediCARE or Social security. We need to stop the takers from getting what they didn't work for.

Apparently you have raised the ire of some of those "takers". I have no problem with those who take from what they have paid into. I just believe too many have done nothing else to provide for their retirement and medical care in their "golden yrs', and they depend soley on SS and medicare for everything. I believe the gov't has with forethought and an agenda made people dependent on these programs so as to be able to control them one way or the other. I ALWAYS believe in erring to the side of freedom and liberty, rather than dependence on anyone else, much less gov't for my needs. We have to restore personal responsibility and self reliance, to start weening people off the gov't tit, or eventually we will fall. It is inevitable, the numbers don't lie. Tea Party 2012!
