Let's remember, it is Bush and the republican party that is destroying America. The war costs are sinking us, the very rich and politicans that have oil ties are drowning the middle class, we are paying their share of taxes, our programs are getting eliminated, our police forces are trying to work on such limited funds, as our officers are not getting pay raises and crime is going up. Criminals are not doing enough jail time because of our severe overcrowding jails (no money to build them). Our schools are aging , along with our bridges that we travel everyday. I could go on and on, but the 10 to 12 billion a month on a needless war is not worth our suffering.
The only reason the republican party has 50% of the votes is because they brainwash the Evangilcal group. Did they look into Dick Cheney , it's okay to critize people that are gay, but NOT his daughter. It's ok to be pro-choice, but isn't it abortion when testtube babies are implanted in woman like his daughter when implantations often rejects several times before implantation takes place. It's ok that he sides with her, after all she is HIS daughter, but please don't be two-faced!
Here again, I can go on and on. Vote Democrat and don't be fooled by their mistakes by them hiding under their fake moral values. Vote Obama

Frustrated in Alaska wrote:
Dear Ann Landers,
I have a wonderful opportunity to run for political office, but my family is getting in my way.
My husband, who is away a lot working for BP Oil Company on the North Slope also is frequently gone weekends on fishing trips and loves to race dog sleds.
Meanwhile, we have 5 children, the youngest of which is an infant born with Downs Syndrome. My 17 year old daughter also is pregnant out of wedlock, but we are making the boy, who is a high school senior who doesn't want kids yet, marry her.
My question is do you think it is appropriate for me to become a part-time Mom by serving in a political position in Washington, D.C.?
My concern is that my husband loves it here in Alaska and my family does have some issues that will not get my full attention if I go to Washington. I may be trading my family for political ambition, or I may be able to make them all to leave the Alaska they love and accompany me to Washington, D.C.
What is your advice?
Signed,
Frustrated in Alaska
How come MEN aren't asked these "parental" questions when they run off to persue their political or business careers? Why can't her husband nuture and raise the younger ones just like you'd expect the wife to do for him? Do you know how many women work and have their husbands raise their children? More than you know! I see nothing wrong with her doing this!

What about Obama?? Do you ask HIM if he is a part-time dad to his little girls?

Sure disaster? I don't think so. Look, the economy wasn't in too bad of shape in the latter part of 2005. As with any economic situation, you have to make adjustments and corrections as you go.

If you watch the stock market you'll see some of the best companies out there that have dips in their stock prices over time. Why? Because minor things happen to them and they make corrections and adjustments.

A federal economy does the same thing. We had a combination of a growing foreign debt and higher oil prices that started in a couple years back.

One of the biggest influences on our economy is the stock market. It's movement causes businesses and people to hold off buying, pull money out of investments, companies to lay off employees and on and on.

Have you watched what causes the stock market to change? Sure, anything at all. It can be a statement from a foreign country, a natural disaster, a government report, even words from people within our own government.

Like a freight train, the overall market doesn't react quickly. It can slow down a whole lot quicker than it can pick back up to speed. So when people within our government say over and over that we are headed for a recession, what do you think happens to our markets?

If a foreign government said the US economy would go into a recession then we'd probably laugh. But when Senate and House leaders repeat it over and over, then everyone starts to think, are we really going into one?

Foreign governments stop investments and loans, companies cancel orders for new machinery, some may even hold off hiring people because they don't want to take a chance on bringing them on board and then having to turn them lose.

Now, go back a couple of years ago and see if you can find some statements made by, mainly, Nancy Pelosi when she first came into power in the House. I think you'll see what we're talking about here.

A news show a couple of years ago made an interesting remark. And keep in mind, this was before recession was even being mentioned. They said, "What if the war starts to turn and doesn't end up being the central issue of the next election. What will the Democrats do?" the answer was "they'll have to find something else to move up as top prioirty like the economy".

I find it ineresting that although the economy was not booming or dropping significantly at the time, there was mention that the Democrats would have to possibly make it the top issue. How? Just like I mentioned.

To put it straight forward - I think the Democrats purposly underminded our economy and then refused any legislative help to build it up just so they would have a better shot at the Whitehouse.

Last Republican in MA wrote:

I've missed most of the RNC. But I did watch Sarah Palin's address. Frankly, I think she should be syndicated on Pay-Per-View in a Cage Fighting Smack-Down of Obama and Biden.
Wow. I am digging this woman, and her snowmobile-racing husband. Especially liked her comment about Obama patronizing Scranton voters, and then stabbing working and Middle - Class Heartlanders in the back in San Francisco - with the "Clinging to Guns and Religion" comment. OOoooo, that MUST have hurt the Obamatons ...
I now understand why you are the LAST Republican in MA!

Mo Lubee wrote:
An editorial in the Anchorage Daily News, the main newspaper in Anchorage, Alaska's biggest city, ran an editorial last week saying Governor Palin is stonewalling the Troopergate investigattion.
She is being investigated by the Republican-controlled state legislature for unethical conduct and abuse of power when she fired the state commissioner of public safety for refusing to fire her ex-brother-in-law.
The paper called for subpoenas to be issued so the investigator, retired prosecutor Steve Branchflower, can complete his report before the election. Palin says she is cooperating but is resisting everything Branchflower wants to do.
The last thing Palin needs now is a big fight with the Republican-controlled state legislature. It could get messy.
The guy in charge of the investigation is a Democrat. For crying out loud Mo, can't you even post anything without distorting it or posting complete lies that someone throws out and you bite on?

Maybe you didn't know that. But if you didn't then you should have checked it out first. It doesn't make you look very credible to be doing things like that.

Republican Economy Is Falling Apart: massive increase in unemployment, another Wall Street Bailout to the tune of $6 TRILLION.

Republicans promise more of the same as they TAX and STEAL all of your money.

McCain set to get rid of employer-paid health care. Families will be forced to buy in the open market.

No preexisting conditions will be covered, anyone over 40 will have problems obtaining any coverage.

QUOTE - Check out come Alaskan websites, they don't all like her that much.
During her twenty months in office as Governor Palin has introduced no major policy issues dealing with health care, education or public safety.
Palin stated, "...I championed reform to end the abuses of earmark spending by Congress. In fact, I told Congress -- I told Congress,'Thanks, but no thanks,' on that bridge to nowhere. If our state wanted a bridge, I said we'd build it ourselves"(end quote...
Well, my friends, you have to hand it to my Sarah. How many candidates could have supported building the bridge, received the money to build it, then told the Federal Governemt "thanks, but no thanks, if we want a bridge, we'll build one ourselves" - and then Palin keeps the Federal money without building the bridge.
Heh-heh-heh, my Friends, that's my Sarah. So she takes out her pen, keeps the earmark money and writes a $1200 tax rebate check to every taxpayer in Alaska - partially funded by every taxpayer in America.
Yes, my Friends, that's my Sarah! By the way, my Friends, how did the rest of you lower 48 Americans like funding the Alaska Tax Rebate checks?
My name is John McSame and I think either myself or one of my guys approved this message.
Does she have to? Are things really bad there in Alaska? Or are they running well enough that you don't have to make major changes?

That's the problem with the liberal, hand-out society that the Democrats are moving toward. They think everything is in crisis and if we aren't raising taxes and adding more social programs then things are bad.

Well I believe in the adage of "a lesser government is a better government". We don't need constant reform on social programs and we don't need to constantly be finding ways to spend our money.

And I don't believe the type of people who live in Alaska are the type that sit around asking for or expecting handouts. I think Palin's story of growing up is proof of that.

Oregon Marxist: Don't let facts get in the way of your completely erroneous diatribe blaming the Republicans for tax increase, ridding of employer-paid health care, etc.
In 1993, I fondly recall Mr. Bill Clinton's immortal words as he and fellow Marxist Comrade Gore signed legislation to raise income taxes by some $400 billion (1993 dollars), "I feel your pain."
Don't you understand the Marxist philosophy to rid society of private wealth so that all are beholden on government for everything? Isthat the society you want? If you do, I urge you to leave the USA and move to Cuba.
