Former Chambersburg Girl wrote: <quoted text> Lil John...the difference between young Obama and Young McCain would be that when Obama got to college...he cleaned his act up and graduated with highest honors from an Ivy League school whereas McCain graduated at the very bottom of his USNA class...now I have no proof he was doing drugs at the naval academy if he actually was sober and managed to do that poorly he might actually be dumber than Bush What it shows is that when things get tough he resorts to reality altering drugs. About McCain's schooling --- Unlike preppy schools conflicts at an academy lead to penalties McCain had conflicts with higher-ups, and he was disinclined to obey every rule, which contributed to a low class rank (894 of 899) that he did not aim to improve.[10][12][13][14] McCain did well in academic subjects that interested him, such as literature and history, but studied only enough to pass subjects he disliked, such as math http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_McCain Say what you want about wiki but read the references I left in there if you dare!

I have to compliment you Lil John...this is one of your better responses...you are at least now responding with facts rather than spewing insults that don't make sense...so for that thank you..it is a nice change. We are know that in college...we have to do some things we don't want to....I don't like Math either but I sure as heck allow it to put me anywhere near the bottom of my class...a strong man/woman will embrace a challenge even if it means overcoming a weakness...isn't that a trait we want to look for in a President? Not someone who will slouch off and be okay with graduating at the bottom of his class. Surely Obama had subjects in school that he did not enjoy as well as others (heck we all do)....he was strong enough to overcome any school challenge and graduate at the top of his class. If much of McCain's poor class ranking is due to the penal system at the USNA as you state in your post, wouldn't his low ranking indicate that he has trouble following directions (surely as the son of an Admiral he knew that being in the Navy meant taking orders), playing by the rules and working with others....is this really the type of person our country needs for a President?

That's simply because there are less military academies than ivy league schools. But, let's face it, you don't get into either without connections relating to wealth and/or power. Graduating in the lowest 1% of my class is not something I would be proud of, even if the school had a fine name.

McCain's class standing is pretty good evidence that he did get into the USNA b/c of his connections....had he gotten in on his own merits...he would not have graduated at the bottom of his class.

Lil John...I just read the link....it basically stated what I paraphrased above that he did poorly in subjects that he did not like such as Math (again, we all have subjects we don't like...Obama included...yet we don't all do poorly in them just because we don't like them and allow them to put us at the bottom of our class...don't you want a President willing to work hard on issues whether he "likes" them or not) and that he was not disciplied so was penalized (okay as the son of an Admiral, he didn't enter the USNA blindly....surely even he was bright enough to realize that he would have to take orders and follow directions as a cadet).

That's right he was bright enough not to sit around the last two years of HS to snort and smoke dope like Obama .. Obama wouldn't even have been eligible for a posting to 'any' academy!

Funny though, that when they started drug testing pilots was about the same time good ole George decided he didn't want to fly anymore. If drug use is such an important thing, John Boy, why do you support Bush? Besides, has John McCain ever said he didn't inhale? Do we know for sure that John McCain never toked or snorted or shot up?

Absolutely anybody would be better than the neocons or Grandpa McSame. They converted me from Republican to independent. I am now having more liberal thoughts like; spend our tax dollars on any domestic project or program and get America back on its feet, stop giving billions of dollars to corrupt governments that don't even like the USA, and stop feeding the military/industrial complex billions of dollars. I'm sick of us trying to dictate to and police the world while America's liberties and economy gets trashed.

I am an independent as well, and I am not a fan of John McCain but what you will get from Obama will be significantly worse economically than anything you have seen for the last 40 years... you can find a different reason to attack McCain than his age and the liberal blog nickname of McSame i hope... otherwise you can easily lose the credibility of your position... if you care.

My question is real. what do we know about John McCain's drug use history. Has he never toked? Obama, like most of us, can walk on water if it is frozen.

Umm. Started reading your link there JC. They tie the Obamas to Dohrn (the weatherman member who fled the authorities for years) by saying they worked at the same law firm. Dohrn was there from 84-88. How could they not know her?????? Funny thing was the the Obamas were not lawyers until 1991. So they wortked at the same law firm but at different times. They just forgot to mention that part. Are youy really that stupid? Or just trying to spread lies.
