They all need to get a clue, the money belongs in the private sector not in the pockets of tax collectors. That way jobs are created, business booms and people can afford taxes and perhaps save a dime or two. It does not work the other way around when money is sucked from the private sector. Fricking government is way too bloated and needs to be downsized, it eats everything in sight. They tax your phone bill, the gas pump, etc. or the call it a fee, etc. It's an obamanation.

I like some of the small details that Bachmann has given so far. Just waiting to see her put forward a more detailed plan. I home it is sesible fair and simple and true tax code reform. I strongly believe that our current tax code is a joke. The tax code is to raise the basic revunue required for the Federal government to provide the services with in the its Constitutional limits. Now we have tax code that half of America has no Federal income tax liability and many large global corporation have a unfair tax advantage over their smaller competition. The tax code is not for the Federal government to pick winners and losers or it to used as tool to control our behavior. Iam very much a stunch Conservative...who is very disappointed in some of the GOP primary candidates tax code plans. It is nice to see that Bachmann is talking about ending the Earned Income Tax Credit. That is nothing but pure welfare in our current tax code...and it needs to be stop...GOOD FOR BACHMANN Newt's plan continues the Earned Income Tax Credit in his plan. Perry and Newt's tax plans are not what I would consider a true Flat Tax...in my opinion. And I think they have offered precious little in the way of any real budgets cuts. Very concerned about some of these so called Conservatives in the primary race.

Nation of Imbeciles wrote: Yes, but who would pay more? Going by what I have heard Bachmann say before. I would say the People and some business that already have a zero Federal income tax liability, would be the ones to start sharing in the tax burden. I would say if you do that and reduce federal spending, you could then lower the rates for those of us that have been paying all a long. To flaten the rates and broaden the tax code and simplify it. It removes the power of the government to control our lives and our business decisions. Pery and Newt are trying to pull a fast one the American people. Their tax plans are a joke. Bachmann has always said the fact that half of the people that dont have to pay federal income taxes...is wrong. My guess would be those would be the ones that she would target. Perry and Newt's plan would only add to the number of people that are exempted from Federal income taxes. And with no real budgets cut offered....and they wont. The debt will only grow more. And Perry plan...only lowers the corporate taxes to 20%, that will do precious little to help with jobs. We need the corporate taxes as low as possible...I kinda think around 5%...would help.

A last ditch effort from Bachmann. She knows she's done without a pile of donations. Announcement she is dropping out by the end of the year.

Most of the 50 percent with no tax liability have no income or their income is below the poverty level. So you "conservatives" can suck it. Tax the money not the individuals. If you have 90 percent of the wealth and income you should pay 90 percent of The taxes. If you have .00001 percent of the wealth you should pay .00001 of the tax. How's that for progressive?

Sounds like a flat tax to me. Not very "progressive" but I like it. By the way, 50% of Americans are not below the poverty line.

I'll gladly pay a 50% income tax if my company wants to pay me a $5,000,000 bonus for tanking the economy. Just saying. ========== We are the 99%! ========== If tax cuts create jobs...where are they? IT'S BEEN 10 YEARS! ========== The right HAS become deranged. ==========

I'm always amazed when I see a "Fair Tax" bumber sticker on the back of a old car. This tells me the probably driver has no clue what what a fair tax is or how it will affect him. A large percentage of the middle class live paycheck to paycheck. They usually spend everything they earn on living expenses. So, in reality, if there were a national sales tax the middle class would pay tax on 100% of their earnings. Upper income people usually do not spend everything they earn on living expenses. Much of their income goes into savings, stocks, and investments - things that would no longer be taxed under most fair tax plans. That poor, misguided guy driving the old car and spending his paycheck to feed his family, buy gas and get his kids' school clothes thinks a fair tax would be "fair". But fair is just a perception based on who you ask. When most of us realize we're paying tax on every nickel and dime we spend to survive, I think we may find ourselves sadly disappointed and feeling very duped..

I can relate to how you feel...my tax rate is way too high as well. But to simpley say the wealthy should pay a high tax rate...is not the answer. What we need is tax code reform. Low rates for everyone. A simple tax code. And one that does penalize or reward for personal life or business decisions. And the same rate for everyone....everyone pays. If we really want to limit the influence on our political leaders....then a tax code that applies some of the principles or goals that I listed would do just that.

Then you'd see a better flow of revenue in to the Treasury. As for wanting the wealthy to feel the "sting" that we do, I refuse to play that class envy game. I, and you, had every opportunity this country affords to become one of those wealthy folk. We chose a different path. Our decision. Our responsibility. We can't resent people because they're more financially successful than we are. Not all wealthy people inherited their wealth, or are devious hedge fund swindlers. The majority worked their asses off to get where they are.

That is pretty much very progressive. How well has our progressive tax code worked so far? I kinda dont think we have half the American population living below the poverty line. I would argue that we dont need the Federal Government established poverty line...anyway. Its none of the government business who is wealthy and who is in poverty. Serves no purpose outside of giving growth and power to the government. And to have a 90% tax rate on the wealthy would just have a disastrous consequence on the American economy. We would have a very rapid economic melt down as a result of such tax rate on the wealthy.
