GOP kills civil unions in Colorado special session

Full story: SFGate

Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper had said the special session was needed to address a "fundamental question of fairness and civil rights." The bill's demise was expected by Democrats, who have begun using the issue as a rallying cry to topple Republicans in the November elections.

This will cost the GOP the House in Colorado. Was it worth it just to prevent the civil unions bill from passing; a bill which 75% of Colorado voters supported??

So now the Dems will take the state House back in November and immediatly pass a civil unions bill.

Talking about cutting of your nose to spite your face!!

...why didn't Democrats do it when they had full control of the Senate and House for several years prior to 2010?

Why not put it to a vote again?

Why not do SOMETHING before election year?

Yes, McNulty MIGHT have made an error in judgment, but at least you know where the GOP sits before they they tell you where they stand.

We know where the Dems sit. Wherever it benefits them the most. Not HONEST.

Interrupting, but what does Ted Haggard have to do with Democrats not getting this thing done when they had the chance? Oh, are you saying they are BOTH hypocritical? I get it. ;)

On topic, Hick knew this would happen. He has an axe to grind on this issue after his failure as Mayor in 2006 on civil unions. He pushed it and spent escrow money we have for real emergencies playing politics and McNulty called his bluff. To what end, I am not certain.

Anyone who has read my posts knows that I am not against gay civil unions. But I feel like gays are really being played here, and not just by Republicans.
