The conversation was on Clintons uncontrolled spending habits in easier times. It was Clinton who opened the doors to Communist China (his buddies),and well now we have a trade deficit of some 20+ billion a month. those are US dollars saying BYE, BYE, every month, and the only reason nothing is being done is likely someone is making BIG bucks in this country.
I don't have the deficit figures, but I'd guess they are minimal in 2002, as compared to a democrat majority in both houses of appropriations, in 2008.
Why do dems always think they can get away with the spin that it is the presidents fault when spending is out of control, when it is congress...?
Clinton had dem majorities when he started, and repubs came in and balanced the budget in 7 years.
Gas prices could be controlled by CONGRESS, not the President. We have dems running congress now.
It is very telling you would blame this huge debt on a President that was a main player in the reduction of foreign debt who served almost 8 years ago. Put blame where it belongs, on Bush's lap.

<quoted text>The Clinton boom was from a number of things. The internet bubble, raising taxes to a responsible level, balancing the budget, job creation and the public having confidence in the economy, so they spend spend spend. That is what fuels this monster, the American public.
Both parties have made good decisions and mistakes up to the Bush Administration. At that point it was one big mistake after another.
I wish you could give credit where it was due and accept blame(you have somewhat)where it is due.
Your biggest mistake is blaming Clinton for anything that is occurring now. The Republicans had Both houses and the office of the President and an even split Supreme court. They could have addressed any issue they wished. To blame Clinton for any ills now is just irresponsible propaganda tactic politics.
The Republican revolution was short lived. They forgot what brought them to Washington.
Clinton never got a line item veto. It isn't available to the President. Bush asked for it too.I am glad no President has had it. I can just imagine what a bought and paid for corporate President could do.
Again, Bush and Rumsfeld were slashing the Military before 9-11. Clinton had given the soldiers the biggest raise they had seen in history. Not the action of a President who hates the military, is it?
You have heard those same talking points you use for a very long time and can't let them go can you? Time to get some real information, move forward, lose Rush and Hannity. They only do harm.
Good to know you're a conservative; don't know how anyone could miss that..
I don't take talking points from your stereotype choice of Hannity, or Rush, though both are intelligent. I see things as they are. Glad there is an opportunity in this country to actually BE a conservatve and say the truth.
The soldiers deserved a raise LONG before Clinton finally caved in to pressure.
Bush and Rumsfield were NOT slashing the military before 911. Get your facts straight Canadian.
Obama is a closet muslim. You've probably seen a list of his 'associates, or even friends'. You still could vote for him? That just says either you're really stupid, or just have the blinders on, and have America-envy like many elitists in Canada have. My guess is you are just willingly ignorant out of peer pressure.

Repubs McCain and Palin. The reason I bring up Clinton is to remind you of their past patterns. Besides being a closet muslim, he also is a dem.

It's easy for the American Republicans that I might be conservative because they have been remade by the Neocons. Look up NeoCon and see where they came from. You're on of the worst kind of Liberals if you're a NeoCon
You liberal Republicans know so little of conservatism as it should be.

Palin has been honest about what she doesn't know ( at least before she was picked for the VP spot). When asked last month about the vice-presidency, she said, "I still can't answer that question until someone answers for me: What is it exactly that the VP does every day?"

When asked about Iraq, she said: "I haven't really focused much on the war in Iraq."

And what about any other pesky foreign policy? No problem - "We can actually see Russia from some parts of Alaska."

Instead of maintaining the military strength of the Reagan-Bush build-up, Clinton downsized, and then pacified our enemies, while spending the saved surplus of those things on more socialist programs. He should have used the surplus to increase intelligence at least on our enemies, find who/where they are, but he was so preocupied, he used FBI recources on his POLITICAL adversaries, Republicans, to get any dirt on them to blackmail them in case his philandering , or socialism tendencies were under scrutiny.(3 point range, nothin' but net..)
As a matter of fact, Clinton's NSA Director, Clarke, tried repeatedly to brief Rice and Bush on al Qaeda and his high level of anxiety over him but they refused to even meet with him. He sent repeated e-mails to Rice and even stopped her outside the White House to convey his serious concerns. Cofer Black testified to the 9/11 Committee that at the time of all this intelligence pouring in about al qaeda and possible terrorists in the US and possible attacks, the threat level was at a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10. It was at 8 during the millinneum. They had the warnings and experienced people expressing grave concerns over a pending attack and did NOTHING.

If she had been making a joke you would have a point. I saw the interview. She was seriously trying to convey the idea that she actually knew something about Russia because you can see it from Alaska. That reminds me, I need to check on the fun Jon Stewart had with this.

Now the reason I was drawn to this thread.

Today Lehman Bros announced bankruptcy and AIG is asking for a multi billion dollar bail out to stay afloat and we are talking about lipsticks on pigs and how many lies McPalin told today. They are providing the theater to keep us focused on anything but the issues and their effect on us individually and as a country. You would think that a leader would want his citizens focused on issues in disturbing times, thinking about how they can use less energy, walk more and drive less, buy American, whatever. But instead McCain wants us to focus on the obvious lies he is telling. He knows his base won't believe anything the liberal media says about him and the rest of us will be countering his lies to those who don't rely on facts to form their opinions. He would rather be proven a liar on national TV than talk about the issues. It's surreal.

Bush kept democrat Richard Clarke in JUST FOR that purpose, to brief him of impending threats.
I'm sure the Terrorists were in the country during the Clinton administration. Clinton downsized the CIA, and FBI and especially the military. Gorelick was Attorney general and caused the CIA and FBI fo be unable to share intelligence..What kind of idiotically ridiculous policy was that? And the old INS was as usual not doing it's job for fear of looking racist, you know, just how you dems want the world to accept Obama and his closet muslim, marxist, and abortion ideologies, BECAUSE he is half black. You dems are race manipulators, and race baiters. Vote for you and youll throw 'em a welfare check or something. You have no national allegiance, so you garnish support by dividing the populace into convenient voting blocks; then you blame white- european America for ANY thing you can to cause them SOME guilt about something so you can extort by taking their tax dollars.

Check the 9/11 Commission report Matt. It's all there laid out nice and tidy. I'll even get you the link. Making excuses and trying to blame Clarke and Clinton because Rice wouldn't meet with him is pathetic. Bush went on a month long vacation in the midst of extremely heightened warnings of eminent terrorist attacks. All Clinton's fault.

Yeah I blame Clinton.'Don't ask don't tell', Downsize the military, defund the CIA, use the FBI for spying on the republicans.

Giving Communist China most favored nation trading status, among rumors of election buyoffs..(just rumors though) Now we have 20 Billion $ sucked out of our economy very month into the hands of the Communists. Taiwan was our friend, not Maoist China. stonewalling the FBI, expanding our debt,(till the repubs took congress). What more do you need to know? Bush inherited this, I'd want a vacation too, and remember the adolescent theivery and trashing of the White house by the sore losers when they moved out.Wow, I wish I cold forget,(60 billion $ taxpayer funds sent to Mexico to bail out the banks frivoulous loans there"or there may huge flood of migrants" he 'warned' in the 1990's. We are still feeling the effects, unless you live off the Gov. Yeah I blame Clinton. Now that was corruption.

That's all you bottle-fed socialists want to do is BLAME, BLAME the repubs., till they cough up more US tax dollars and expand Govt. and bring us closer to a marxist state, which is what you most likely have been taught at your college, by 'elite' educated soft-marxists.
It would be a TRAGEDY if we bought into marxist policies completely without the checks against them by conservatives. Really, few others beside conservatives are what keep you from converting the west into a Soviet style dictatorship.
I've already been to school, but we never stop learning. What I've just said is worth more than 4-6 years of elitist nonsense that you'll eventually need straightened out by clear thinkers. GO PALIN!
I remember buses waiting to take those that didn't have the means out of New Orleans, they refused to go, they felt they could ride it out with no problem, I said then I would have very little sympathy for what may phisically happen to them if they refused to leave.
The same thing just happened in Galeveston, they litterally told people "get out or face certain death" did all the people leave? heck no,, thats the human nature, some think they can somehow save thier homes by staying in them, huh?? and some do get a "high" off big storms like these.
Of course we feel horrible for them loosing thier property, but excuse me,, in both instances it was thier choice to stay.
It is to bad people use tragedies like this to further or hurt anothers political career.
