You seem to be conflating the doctrines of certain religious groups with the nature/requirements of civil marriage. Unfortunately for you, religious views apply only to the adherents of such religions and are irrelevant in a discussion of civil marriage.

I had a high school friend and his partner come to our wedding.....they don't believe in marriage for themselves, but they were happy for us and helped celebrate our special day.....that meant the world to us:-)
