What are you talking about? Obama has always opposed DOMA. Also Obama always supported gay marriage. In 1996 he supported gay marriage. Look it up. He has never changed that position personally he just pretend like he didn't support it until now for political reasons.
Doesnt matter. He is one person, one vote, and his Presidency does not allow him to repeal DOMA, hence he has not.

The fact you are for civil unions proves that even you know there is no good argument against gay marriage, and you are just a homophobe.
Your homophobia is caused by your inability to deal with your same sex attractions.
BTW, stupid, if something occurs in nature, it is, by definition, natural.
My same sex attractions are never sexual. I am straight because homosexual contact does not interest me. I have no objection to gays, just to changing the definition of marriage to include same sex couples. I would support civil union being expanded wherever necessary to make it exactly equal with marriage. But not calling it marriage.

<quoted text>December 2003: While running for the U.S. Senate in Illinois, then state Sen. Obama said in a questionnaire he was against the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act, which created a federal definition of marriage as a union between a man and a woman.
September 2004: During his U.S. Senate campaign, Obama said as a Christian he believed that marriage should be between a man and a woman, although he supports civil unions for gay and lesbian couples.“I’m a Christian, and so although I try not to have my religious beliefs dominate or determine my political views on this issue, I do believe that tradition and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman,” Obama said during a taping of WBBM-AM’s “At Issue.”
And so what? Many former bigots have reevaluated their beliefs after much study of the arguments out there from both sides and then finally coming to the conclusion that there are really NO valid reasons why NOT to allow marriage equality for all Americans! Religion and oh,it's icky does not count as valid reasons! Simple logic and the states that have SSM have shown that there is indeed NO reasons why not to allow it! Most open minded and logical thinkers see right through yours and others hatred and see it for what it is! B.S.! I used to feel like you do but after I studied both sides and getting to know many gay singles and couples over the decade sand seeing that the vast majority of them are good, decent, kind people the same as us heteros are could come to no other conclusion but to change my views! To bad you haven't grown up yet and are still spewing hatred and bigotry in the name of your religion! Besides it's the Constitutional and the right thing to do!

He won't have too. DOMA will be found to be unconstitutional by the courts because it denies federal tax benefits and healthcare for same sex couples.

Then you need to get the fu** out more. Believe it or not, it is happening. The metropolitan community church has been doing them for at least 20 years.

What kind of double talk is this - "these marriages are not "gay" or "same sex" marriages, because that doesn't exist.... they are just marriages that happen to involve a same-sex couple" - this is jibberish. I do not, nor have I ever heard of a CHURCH allowing a same sex marriage.

Correct. There is NO SUCH THING as same sex marriage. Two gays in a relationship are not "married". They have something, but it is not marriage.

Gays are married when the state says they are, as happens in 6 states, the district of columbia, and over 18,000 marriages in CA.

Your marriage is recognized all over the globe? Not likely; no other country has to recognize american marriages unless they have signed an accord to do so. On the other hand, every country that has SSM recognizes american SSM's. So much for that theory.

There are more gays than there are jews, jehovah's witnesses, or olympic athletes. Numbers do not ensure acceptance. More importantly, your acceptance is irrelevant. We are seeking our legal rights, not your approval.

Unless a gay couple decides to access federal programs, tax statuses, etc, federal recognition doesn't affect the legality of the marriage. Moreover, DOMA's days are numbered; even the architects of the bill believes its time is past.
_Reality Speaks_ wrote:
<quoted text>
By the same token, gays are "married" if their gay friends and family and associates say they are married, right? LOL.
I am married and recognized as such all over the globe. The real fight you gays have is one of normalcy. You want to be seen as straight people are and for there to be no difference between straights and gays socially. This will NEVER happen. Gays will never be a significant percentage of any population anywhere because it is a statistical variation of the norm.
The Federal government does not recognize gay marriage, but it recognizes my marriage. That alone makes your gay "marriages" only an illusion. Many states allow bestiality and the cooking and eating or roadkill. More, in fact, than those which allow "gay marriage".

The main reason is that the current president has done NOTHING to help with the budget - he has spent more in 3 years than any other president and his main contribution was to fly all over the world and play rock star. Oh yes, he also had a lot of vacations with his family and staff - which is more staff members than any other president. His accomplishment has been a useless health care bill that goes against the Constitution of the United States and our president did not know that???? This shows how he operates - what he wants he believes he should have - WRONG.

Lets take a look see. Have any " Presidents" took a vacation?

Ummm not to the best of my knowledge. You see they are still the President whether they are in Washington or on the Golf course. Every day they are still briefed and in charge. So tell me just what has Obama done that differs form any other?

Health care, yes it was a crap bill for the most part. Well the part where he removed the clause for pre existing conditions was good. In reality Romney stuck the same crap up the ass of the residents of Massachusetts. Golly he seems to be on board HUH.

(Reuters)- When President Barack Obama cited cost as a reason to bring troops home from Afghanistan, he referred to a $1 trillion price tag for America's wars.

Staggering as it is, that figure grossly underestimates the total cost of wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan to the U.S. Treasury and ignores more imposing costs yet to come, according to a study released on Wednesday.

The final bill will run at least $3.7 trillion and could reach as high as $4.4 trillion, according to the research project "Costs of War" by Brown University's Watson Institute for International Studies.( www.costsofwar.org )

In the 10 years since U.S. troops went into Afghanistan to root out the al Qaeda leaders behind the September 11, 2001, attacks, spending on the conflicts totaled $2.3 trillion to $2.7 trillion.

4.4 trillion dollars spent on Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Thank you so very much President Bush.

Yes it cost a lot to rid of islamic killers that would love to slit a gay throat, but you forgot to mention the future mess obama has created giving radical groups control in Libya, Egypt...you forgot that obama has the most corrupt administration in our history. He kills American citizens without giving them a trial, al-Awlaki. And refused to have the DOJ release any documentation of the legal reasoning behind the strike. Obama justice. Let's talk Fast and Furious. Why is Michelle taking separate jets for her and her entourage arriving 4 hours earlier then the great obama? Not just one time she did this. In Dec 2010 she cost the tax payers an extra 100,000 to leave early for Hawaii. Her Martha's Vineyard trip capped a 2 and a half year $10 million vacation spending spree that included 5 star hotels, massages, top shelf wines and liquors, she has been on vacation42 days from the fall of 2010 to the fall of 2011, she is a getaway junkie. She is our Imelda Marcos. How did Nancy Pelosi spend more then 100000 dollars on her own birthday bash? But getting back to the President: The Obamas finished 2011 with a Hawaii trip est. to cost near $4 million, a good chunk paid by tax payers. Of course they traveled separately with Moochelle racking up 100000 dollars in personal travel and security expenses. Our First Socialist Lady at your expense.

We're a republic, not a democracy. The populace doesn't vote on laws; that's why we have a representative government. Only someone entirely ignorant of our government would be unaware of that.

You can ban it if you want, but a single SCOTUS decision will annihilate your ban in a penstroke.
_Reality Speaks_ wrote:
<quoted text>
Those "laws" were not voted upon by the people of the HANDFUL of states which allow it. This is because gays have snuck through the legislative back door to get it in there. Fortunately, when that happened in my state of California, the voters promptly got signatures and voted for a ban. We got it banned TWICE. Now, the gay bastards have gotten it struck down, but it looks like we are going to get another vote, and the ban will return.
Regardless of the handful of states, this nation as a whole does not recognize anything called :gay marriage". Even those couples n the states which allow it are not married in states which have band in place. They are not recognized by the government of the United States. How can it be "marriage" is those marriages are valid in less places than my ATM card?

Daily Horoscope for May 25

Aquarius

You're very feisty and energetic and there's a lot you want to achieve. You'll get rather impatient if anyone stands in your way. A close emotional relationship will either be sexy and exciting beyond belief, or bad-tempered and tetchy. If you're in a grumpy mood, try to work out why - and what would improve matters. One thing that's bound to help is physical exercise, because it will burn off any excess nervous energy.
