Obama signs bill authorizing $680 billion in military spending, applauds hate crimes provision

He also did something very socialist! He gave the stop-loss troops a pay raise!!! What was he thinking, spending money on actually paying the troops..... This is big Government at work people!!!

Glad he got around to signing the bill and "setting guidelines" to cut some wasteful spending on weapons systems. Now, maybe more will be spent on items to protect the troops on the ground.

Notice, however, that he does not heap any praise on our men and women in the armed forces, but has an awful lot to say about the hate crimes legislation. Why is hate crimes legislation in a military spending bill?

That's a rhetorical question; it was attached to a military spending bill so that anyone who opposed it would be labeled as not supporting our troops.

Thank you Mr. President! Let's do away with the so called Gay Panic Defense as well.

I would say that paying soldiers is the government's job wouldn't you? I think every president has paid the troops and given them raises. He did his job for onece.

Then show me the $ amount that was spent on contractors per contractor through YOUR taxes to a business that was owned by the same people who sent the troops to war....

The only reason why Cheney is talking about "Keeping America Safe" is because he want's more money spent on his corporation. He is still a MAJOR shareholder, and has profited millions from deficit spending..... What have the troops received from them?

Look at the numbers, and compare the % increases.....

Money above safety? Hell the soldiers could use money but prefer to have protect and numbers in Afghanistan.

Obama is running a politician's war, not the general's war.

Hope the general's figured it out and asked for double of what they needed because Obama's only giving half.

So if there aren't enough troops and the enemy is squeezed out of Pakistan, guess where they'll run...and there won't be enough troops to fight them effectively when they run back to Afghanistan.
