Obama tells NAACP blacks must show responsibility

I certainly hope that the nice folks at the NAACP, don't expect Obama to do anythin' for them, as president, above or beyond what he does for any other American.

Nevermind. Iff'n the folks that marched on city hall, last night, are any example of the mindset of NAACP members, then they'll expect everythin', while offerin' society nuthin'.

BHO has gotten it right. Blacks lack family values and morals. He has spoken out to tell them that if they want to improve their lot in life, they had better get some. The more BHO speaks, the more I like him and his message of change.

Al & Jesse & their white hating gangs should just go away. They are the scum of the black earth. They do nothing to improve the lot of life for blacks. Now, BHO has told them that too.

My husband and I are very well educated. I agree with Barack to a certain degree, he chose a bad choice of words when referring to all blacks. There are some blacks who need to take control of their lives, as well as whites. All people need to be held accountable of their actions. I DONOT condone any wrong doing and it doesn't matter what race you are. We need to bring back religion for alot of the racist people in our country, especially on this comment board.

I have endured many such posts.
The NAACP has always been a viable organization, but many people are ignorant as to what they actually do.

No, personally I do not expect Sen. Obama to do anything for me. Not even for what he will do for other Americans.

He is a POLITICIAN and they all mostly shift with the prevailing wind. Moreover, he seems quite content with telling struggling Black people off without offering helpful solutions or having done any work to help them.

My entire family, including myself, is QUITE well off, so we will be fine.

But I feel bad for other Black people who need economic, social, and spiritual help.

Without doing the work of helping those who need it, I don't think ANYONE, including Senator Obama, needs to speak.

This is just pandering to Conservative Democrats and high and mighty Black people who want to see the underclass chastised again.

I agree with this part of your post. And I want to add that I have family members who know him and his wife personally.

He is a good person and so is his wife, but he is a politician and I don't need to be told what a good citizen is...

What do say to people who say that the lower classes are in the predicament thy're in because of the kind of decisions they tend to make in life..and if you try to help, they will eventually end up back where they were before??

actually, NAACP was founded near the turn of the 20th century, during what was considered the reconstruction era post-slavery. during that time, however, lynchings of blacks by whites and rampant segregation took place around the country - especially in the south.
