The only thing that will change is that they will be entitled to all the rights and privledges (and responsibilities) as any other married couple... And yes, the world will keep turning.

I think it's ironic and interesting that the largest usage of porn in the USA happens right straight through the BIBLE BELT of the USA....I guess all that aspirin between the knees, abstinence before marriage crap, and keeping oneself 'pure' before marriage isn't exactly working out too well. The only PURE thing one can say about the BUYBULL belt, is that it is PURE CRAP.
It does explain all the proclivities of the MANY televangelists who are caught with their britches down, as well as their conservative political counterparts.
Yes, the democrats have their Anthony Weiners, but we don't prance around espousing FAMILY VALUES ad nauseum, screeching about unwed mothers,( SOmeone needs to ask Jesus about HIS unwed mother...ahem...)

How about this, folks: how about people stop trying to be something THEY AREN"T?
Instead of saying, " I'm for family values, no sex before marriage, etc.", how about saying:" I am for supporting another human being. I am for setting an example of HONESTY, INTEGRITY, and successful life choices".
But INSTEAD, conservatives, especially the Christian NEO-CONS set themselves up for failure. THEY ARE NEVER GOING TO BE PERFECT, but they will declare that they are to the whole world, all the while they are bopping their secretary, their daughters, or their parishoners.
This is why religion and politics should never marry. It's truly a relationship that is doomed, and will never last. It has the staying power of a Kardashian wedding, and the juiciness of the subsequent sex tape to follow. bleh.

The operative word here is "contract". A LEGAL AND BINDING CONTRACT, which gives gay couples the right to make medical decisions for their partners, enter into all the same arenas as any other couple. They will LEGALLY be ' next of kin'....there is nothing more devastating than when a gay couple has a catastrophic event, and the partner is banned by family of the sick one from entering into medical decisions, which they can legally do. It doesn't matter if they have been together for 20 years. This is also important for obtaining health care benefits, life insurance benefits, etc. Some insurance companies still ban a 'life partner' from being on a policy with the insured, because they are not LEGALLY married.
I think Dolly Parton said it well: "I'm for gay marriage. Why not? Why not allow gays to be just as miserable as the rest of us!!"
