Then take another example of a relatively inexpensive, somewhat available preventive aspect covered by your health insurance and the point is the same: It's not the aspect of waiver or no waiver. It's the aspect of "religious" dogma regarding birth control, specifically.
And you know this.
And liar, even if your health insurance does not cover flu shots (what is your insurance plan?) most people's health insurance covers flu shots.
Many people's insurance covers birth control pre-mandate.

What would you have, here RE: the waivers?

I mean, they teach what they teach.

Like it or not, you can't just mow 'em down-they are protected by the constitution.

The churches themselves are exempt. We know what the authoritarian, misogynist, anti sex Bishops in fine gold lame dresses teach, and we know they won't stop. That's not the point.

The point is: Secular employees in a non church setting. And like it or not, a hospital is not a church. Nor is a university.

As for your first question, the accommodation has already been proposed: Have the insurance companies pick up the tab for the coverage of birth control in the non profit institutions' health insurance plans.

That wasn't good enough for the RCC and the right wing, however.

All I heard is the President say that "it's free, the insurance companies will pick up the tab".
What I haven't heard is how that happens. How does an insurance company provide a coverage benefit without the coverage being paid for?
I havenm't heard word one from anyone in the insurance industry saying that that benefit will be on their nickel alone.
I'd expect to, wouldn't you?

Whoever pays for it, these sorts of arrangements to let people save face are enacted all the time. Planned Parenthood may not use any of the government money it gets for abortion, I believe. But clearly any government money that Planned Parenthood gets for routine testing or, what do you know?, birth control, would in theory possibly free up _other_ money for the oh so prohibited activities.

And the right wing's and the religious freeeks' response there is exactly the same: Try to defund Planned Parenthood entirely.

So you're right, the face saving compromise which follows pretty well established precedents was rejected by the Bishops immediately.

It's not about "having to pay for it." It's about imposing religious dogma on secular employees in public workplace, and beyond that, controlling women's bodies and also non procreative sex.

That's the issue, though, isn't it?

It's "free" to the user-before lst Friday and after last Friday.

So the new conservative position is that birth control should NEVER be provided through insurance... because there are plenty of free clinics, like Planned Parenthood, where they can "easily" go and get them.
Until, of course, you manage to close all the Planned Parenthoods.
Wow...long day? Because you just put a whole lot of words in your post that I never typed.

I'm an Independent.

I didn't say it should never be provided through insurance...many insurance providers already cover it, and I'm sure those policies cost more.

I said those who can't afford it can go to any number of women's health clinics, including PP. It's no more difficult to walk into PP, a women's health clinic, an OB-GYN office...and then on to the pharmacy...or do you think insurance companies ought to deliver them, too?

I have no interest in closing any PP.

In typical fashion, you hear something that you don't agree with, and immediately assume all kinds of things. It's no wonder there's no rational debate in this country. There's only kneejerk reactions.

No, I don't think that's really the issue, because the dress wearing misogynists of the RCC rejected the idea of having the insurance companies absorb any cost related to birth control out of hand.

And these women working at these non church, non profit universities and charities pay via their work for the institutions, via their healthcare deductions, via their co pays, via their taxes.

This is about the RCC dogma being foisted on secular, non Catholic and birth control using Catholic employees of these non profits.

The RCC didn't "reject" the idea of insurance companies "absorbing" the cost of the BC, to my knowledge.

They probably, as I don't, believe that the insurance companies ARE going to pay for the BC on their own nickel.

If they passed stuff out for free, they'd be a "charity", not an insurance company.

AN OPEN LETTER TO B. HUSSEIN OBAMA SENT TO THE NY TIMES, WHO REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT.

But SKY NEWS in Britain and SPIEGEL in Germany took notice.

Lou Pritchett rose from soap salesman to Vice-President, Sales and Customer Development for Procter and Gamble and over the course of 36 years; made corporate history.
AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA
Dear President Obama:

You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike
Any of the others, you truly scare me.

You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.

You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive
Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no
Visible signs of support.

You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth
Growing up in America and culturally you are not an American.

You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.

You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus
Don't understand it at its core.

You scare me because you lack humility and 'class', always blaming others.

You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned
Yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to
Publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail..

You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the 'blame America '
Crowd and deliver this message abroad.

You scare me because you want to change America to a European style
Country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector.

You scare me because you want to replace our health care system
With a government controlled one.

You scare me because you prefer 'wind mills' to responsibly
Capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves.

You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose
That lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of
Living in the world.

You scare me because you have begun to use 'extortion' tactics
Against certain banks and corporations.

You scare me because your own political party shrinks from
Challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.

You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider
Opposing points of view from intelligent people.

You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both
Omnipotent and omniscient.

You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything
You do.

You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the
Limbaugh's, Hannitys, O'Reillys and Becks who offer opposing,
Conservative points of view.

You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing.

Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will
Probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.

Lou Pritchett

Big surprise. Since it hit the Internet, however, it has had over
500,000 hits. Keep it going. All that is necessary for evil to succeed is for

That wasn't good enough for the RCC and the right wing, however.
So by your logic all church schools, hospitals, and universities should drop all religious activities and remove all religious art and anything else that relates to that church's beliefs because they take federal money. Let us change St Mary's hospital to simply Mary's hospital. No can't do that as Mary is too closely related to the mother of Jesus. Can't use Notre Dame as the name of the university. St Jude would have to be renamed. Remove all bibles and crosses from every church affiliated hospital and school. After all they take federal money. See how stupid your federal money issue is? Or maybe you don't? Is that your goal? Remove religion from public life?
In New York city they have managed to kick out all churches using public schools on Sunday for services even though they paid rent and help offset the costs of running the public schools. Too much mixing of church and state I suppose. Pathetic and fiscally irresponsible.

Greece is experiencing the problems they are primarily because Greece abandoned their own Money to option in with the Euro.

What other outcome could there have been?

See Greece...that's what happens when the government runs out of money to provide everything from cradle to grave. Once they start giving everything out, it is automatically assumed as an entitled "right".
See France...that's what happens when you tell people they'll have to work two years longer before they get their guaranteed pensions.
See England...that's what happens when you tell the entitled that they're going to have to pay more for their state provided colleges (even though over half who start drop out).
The pathetic part is that while all this is going on across the pond, we're rushing headlong for the same inevitable cliff. It's beyond ignorant.
