Jane Says wrote:
How Obamacare hurts seniors
New health law will cut $716 billion from Medicare while limiting options
BY DR. MARC SIEGEL
August 20, 2012
My patient George is now 80 years old and has been coming to see me since he was 65. He brings his pill bottles to each visit; over the years, the number of bottles and pills has increased.
Medicare has served him well over these 15 years, from the time an ultrasound ordered in the emergency room by a physician’s assistant missed a bursting appendix but a CT scan found it before it was too late (Medicare paid for both tests), to the time when his lymphoma was cured with the help of an expensive, new targeted therapy.
His hernia was repaired through a scope using the latest costly metal mesh, and when he could no longer walk without assistance, Medicare paid for his walking cane. At 80, he is alert and full of life, telling me a new joke whenever he comes in.
What will the future of Medicare look like for patients like George? Will I still be able to order the best care for his hernia, his cancer or his addled gait? Will I have to fight for every drug approval?
I am concerned that as Obamacare attempts to cut $716 billion from Medicare, the belt-tightening orchestrated by the Independent Payment Advisory Board will have a trickle-down effect on my practice.
The 15 appointed members of this board will not include practicing physicians, and I am worried that it will not only cut my fees to an unworkably low level but also base its rulings on findings that claim one treatment is better than another yet ignore the art of medicine.
Ours is a field where an ultrasound can miss something that a CT scan ultimately finds, where a physician’s assistant doesn’t have the same training as a seasoned physician, where a ruling that limits the number of tests I can order could harm an elderly but active patient like George.
The advantage of Medicare for practicing doctors like me has always been that we can order the tests and treatments we need without excessive restrictions or denials.
This may seem like a waste of the government’s money, but it is the only way we are able to work with an insurance program that covers patients with more medical problems because of their age, yet pays us less to see them than we are paid with private insurance that covers younger patients with fewer problems.
No wonder a recent Doctor Patient Medical Association poll found that 74% of doctors say they will stop accepting Medicare patients or will leave Medicare entirely because of Obamacare.

GOP Outrage Over Akin Remarks About Politics Not Policy

"The calls for Todd Akin's resignation by many Republican leaders likely had nothing to do with the substance of his remarks -- keep in mind, the Republican platform has a call for a ban on abortion even in cases of rape. They had nothing to do with the fact that Akin has long held out-of-the-mainstream positions on many issues and made numerous extremely conservative statements. Akin's mistake was that by opening his mouth with crazy talk -- as my nine-year old daughter says -- made it much harder for Republicans to win a sure Senate seat pickup with him on the ballot."

"Legitimate rape rarely leads to pregnancy". Good intentions? Lol. That's comforting. The fact that a person with this level of intelligence would or should have a say in any policies governing this country is a total joke. He re-affirms to most of the country what we already knew about the "Tea Party". The majority are a bunch of batshit crazy, misinformed, lying nitwits. He needs to crawl back under his rock taking his ignorant, backwoods policies with him. Leave the governing to people who understand simple, basic facts when it comes to science and biology. You know, the people with brains.
BTW..Paul Ryan doesn't believe incest, rape and the mother's health are the only exceptions to abortion. Quite the opposite. He's on the same page as Aiken. But maybe not today.
Ryan worked with Akin in writing that bill assaulting women's rights in the House. Anal Probe Pauly came up with the term "forcible" to replace legitimate, but we know what it means...back to those wonderful days of patriarchy when the only rape case going to court had a cloistered nun with multiple stab wounds as a victim. On Medicare, time to take the fight to Obama
It's the President's health law, not Paul Ryan's budget, that will hurt seniors

When Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney announced he had selected Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate, many on the right rejoiced — while many on the left salivated. They drooled over the prospect of being able to run political advertisements rooted in fear, not fact, about what Ryan will do to entitlement programs.

But if there ever was a time to be careful what you wish for, it’s right now.

Since the announcement, something interesting has happened. The attention from Romney and Ryan’s plans to save Medicare has shifted the debate back onto the President and his handling of the issue.

Every chance that Romney and Ryan are asked about their proposal to help fix the borderline-bankrupt entitlement is a chance for them to actively shift the discussion, putting President Obama and his allies on the defensive for what they have already done.

With the passage of Obamacare, Medicare has already been gutted to the tune of $716 billion dollars. Though Democrats claimed this was “savings,” it was done to pay for the law’s enormous price tag (it was also deceptively double-counted so that the left looked like they were saving money and keeping Medicare solvent).

Talk about a generational Robin Hood: robbing the old to give to the young, specifically, those 26 and under who are now covered under the new health law.

Plainly put, Romney and Ryan can’t push granny off the cliff. Obama beat them to it.

Would this be the “liberal media” that includes Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter and Sean Hannity who are all collectively demanding that Akin drop out? Holy hell, when you say something too stupid for Hannity, Limbaugh and Palin, and you consider them to be a part of the “liberal media,” you’re insanely far-right.
Anyway, it’s too late. Akin missed the drop out deadline in Missouri. You’re stuck with this doofus, Republicans.
Liberal faux outrage.
What the guy said was ignorant but on that topic,(rape) liberals prefer to rehabilitate the rapist and throw him back into society.(perhaps knowing he will vote democrat).
The difference is that Republicans will call for the person to drop out of a political race.
The democrats will elect him to office.

On Medicare, time to take the fight to Obama
It's the President's health law, not Paul Ryan's budget, that will hurt seniors

What Romney and Ryan now have the chance to do is hammer home is that under Obama’s law, cuts will be made to Medicare Advantage and reimbursements to doctors and hospitals will be slashed with the help of a panel of 15 unelected bureaucrats called the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB).

They will also restrict patients from costly end-of-life care by enforcing caps on how much a patient can spend to stay alive.

Romney and Ryan should remind voters of what Obama has said himself:“The chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives are accounting for potentially 80% of the total health care bill out here. There is going to have to be a very difficult democratic conversation that takes place.”

THE IPAB PANEL WILL HAVE UNCHECKED, BINDING POWER IN THE INTEREST OF SUPPOSEDLY GREATER EFFICIENCY AND LOWER COSTS. THAT MEANS THAT INSTEAD OF YOU OR YOUR DOCTOR MAKING DECISIONS ABOUT YOUR CARE, A GROUP OF WASHINGTON MICROMANAGERS WILL DO IT FOR YOU.

Romney can point out that most effected by Obama’s effort to reform Medicare will almost ceratinly be the disabled, who require special and often expensive care. CANCER PATIENTS WILL BE AT RISK, AS WELL, SINCE CHEMOTHERAPY AND OTHER ONCOLOGICAL TREATMENTS ARE SOME OF THE PRICIEST.

NOT TO MENTION THAT THIS BOARD WILL GIVE OBAMA AND THE LEFT AIR COVER WHEN THE PANEL MAKES A CONTROVERSIAL DECISION, AS IT WILL CLEAR THEM OF ANY DIRECT INVOLVEMENT, ALLOWING THEM TO CLAIM THEY AREN’T RESPONSIBLE FOR CUTTING YOUR MOTHER’S CANCER TREATMENTS.

IN FACT, THERE IS VERY LITTLE CONGRESS WILL BE ABLE TO DO TO STOP THE PANEL. IT WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO BLOCK ITS RULINGS WITH A TWO-THIRDS VOTE TO OVERRIDE AN EXPECTED PRESIDENTIAL VETO.

Oh, and Romney can explain to voters that the rationing panel will be immune to lawsuits.

According to The New York Times,“In general, federal courts could not review actions to carry out the board’s recommendations.”

So Democrats are in favor of preventing patients from suing government bureaucrats. But if this rationing panel has been designed to be so efficient and good at its job, as the President and his administration claim, then why do Democrats fear litigation in the first place?

But most of all, Romney and Ryan must make the point that it is too late for that conversation. The most potent argument that Romney and Ryan can make against Obama’s plans to reform Medicare is that they aren’t plans at all — they are the law of the land.

PRESIDENT OBAMA HAS ALREADY RAIDED YOUR GRANDMOTHER'S MEDICARE, and there is no chance for a redo, unless Romney is elected to successfully repeal Obamacare with the support of Congress.

Republicans should have been making these arguments all along. But, thankfully, it’s not too late. The Paul Ryan pick doesn’t just shift the political discussion back to Obamacare (one of the most unpopular issues for the President), it provides the right with the opportunity to finally explain to America’s seniors that you cannot be a supporter of Obamacare and simultaneously claim to be a protector of Medicare. As far as promises go, it’s pure fiction.

Rewind to October:

HUCKABEE: Would you have supported a constitutional amendment that would have established definition of life beginning of life at conception?

ROMNEY: Absolutely.

What’s to say he won’t change his mind again tomorrow? If the flip-flop fits…

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/112/hr2...

(A) the right to life guaranteed by the Constitution is vested in each human being, and is the paramount and most fundamental right of a person; and
(B) the life of each human being begins with fertilization, cloning, or its functional equivalent, irrespective of sex, health, function or disability, defect, stage of biological development, or condition of dependency, at which time every human being shall have all the legal and constitutional attributes and privileges of personhood;

The amendment was also careful to define “fertilization”:

The term ‘fertilization’ means the process of a human spermatozoan penetrating the cell membrane of a human oocyte to create a human zygote, a one-celled human embryo, which is a new unique human being.

You can clearly see what's coming if these lunatics got their way.

This ain't going away either.

and while "forcible" rape is getting all the attention, no one is considering the incest portion of this; these shaved apes would be fine with a 12 or 13 year old girl carrying gunner's...uh...i mean their father's baby to term.
