The very logic you used in describing your decision to vote for McCain is EXACTLY why George Bush won two terms in office. The Republicans realized that if you can persuade people to vote out of emotion, they will ignore the issues. And they will do this even if it is not in their self-interest. Homophobia and abortion aren't strong enough to persuade people when the economy is in crisis, so now they will manipulate the pride admiration woman have for Hillary. You won't hurt Obama by voting for McCain, you'll just bring a smile to Karl Rove's face as he whispers to McCain..."I told you so."

Do you seriously believe John McCain is still a maverick that can be taken at his word? During this presidential campaign he has turned 180 degrees from his previous stances on many important issues, and now toes the Republican party line. And his selection of Palin for running mate is the most transparently cynical choice imaginable. He wants to secure the disgruntled Hillary democrats by choosing a woman, any woman. And at least in this case this transparent ploy seems to have worked - if democrats allow their bitterness to elect another Republican for another 4 years of more of the same, then you might as well fold up the tent and close the party down. And America deserves everything it gets.

I guess it is pretty narcissistic to use a Harvard Law degree to help the poorest citizens of south Chicago. Much more so than than ignoring the perpetual philaderings of a spouse because he makes you a national figure.

So you would rather place your vote for someone who could be described as misogynistic? Who has called his wife the c-word? Who has voted against equal pay for equal work? Someone who cheats on his first wife and runs off with a second.

And you say you can take him at his word .. I have followed and admired John McCain as a maverick in the 2000 elections. I even supported him over Bush at the time. He spoke his mind - but he has flip-flopped in this election - he had pledged to run a principled campaign, but instead he has sold his soul to the Rove negative campaign machine. In 1999 he said he was pro-life but and I quote "in the short term, or even the long term, I would not support repeal of Roe v. Wade." He now does support overturning Roe V. Wade. He used to oppose the tax cuts for the wealthy - now to pander to his parties base he supports them. McCain at one time took a responsible statesmen like position against torture, now he agrees with the Bush administration on torture.
Maybe in the end McCain can say "I have become what I beheld and am content that I have done right." But I ask at what cost? at what price?
I have to question anyone who violates their principles for a shot at power. They are not the people we need leading us at this time.

So when McCain appoints enough ultra-conservative Supreme Court justices to finally overturn Rowe, and to insure that every case that comes before the Court on issues of concern to women will be decided against them, you'll have that extra tinge of pride from knowing that you helped to make it happen?

I just love the spin. As it has been compared many times Hillary doesn't have much more experience than Obama. You are assuming or stating her experience is naive.

The Clintons were victims of their own tactics. They rode an unprecedented wave of an economy during Mr. Clinton's term. The only thing he did right was not get in the way of market forces. He lost the Congress, her health bill was a total flop. People like you have a blind eye to the all the scandals swirling around them two.

The best candidate won, he out maneuvered a powerful leverage driven campaign. I wouldn't be too concerned, Obama is a smart person, he is not beholden to the interests your precious clintons seem to be.

Good riddance, that team will fall apart, I will take odds they are divorced in a year.

I don't get what you're saying, no. Are you for women's rights or against? And you do realize that America has always been a multicultural nation, with many languages spoken, since it's very beginning. And racism in any form (including yours) has no place in the America I believe in.

As a woman I would love to vote for another woman as president, and someday I will; but, I want that woman to be someone who made it on her own, not because she was somebody's wife and that somebody cheated on her. If Hillary Clinton had been the nominee I would have voted for her because I can't stand McCain's position on most issues and I know that he has cheated on his wife, probably both of them, and switched positions several times on issues and positions in order to get where he is at, So honest and trustworthy, I don't think so. Even more importantly, McCain is on the wrong side of almost every issue that is important to women. How anyone can even consider voting for this man and giving us four, maybe even eight, more years of the kind of policies we have had to endure under Bush is beyond me.
If the 60% of men and women that have cheated are banded from voting democrat, you people are in bigger trouble than you are now. Obama on the other hand has cheated on this country. He has continuously lied. He started his lying career here in Illinois. On the list of sins, what is higher on the totem pole? lying or cheating? or stealing for that fact?

John McCane is by far the best pick for the GOP as he will be another "controlled" choice by the GOP puppeteers
Who else will keep the curtains drawn over the unaswered questions of the last 8 years, his past has always been "YES SIR"
His service to this country in the airforce is appreciated, his service in politics is not.
Cindy wants to be assistant President and can afford to buy it for him

I know you are right to your comments. However, think of future generations of this country and just don't think of yourself when you are voting for McCain. Obama does think of the future and your kids and your grandkids. Again just don't think of yourself and your selfish ways when voting. You need to read up more!

Al Sharpton Blasts Barack Obama. March 12, 2007. Saying that Obama never did anything for the community, never worked with anyone from the community, that nobody knows the people around him, that he's a candidate driven by white leadership. Sharpton told the NY Post.
Sharpton tears into Obama. March 13, 2007. Sharpton says I am not going to be cajoled or intimidated by any cadidate. March 14, 2007 Sharpton to Obama- just because you're our color doesn't make you our kind.

I wholeheartedly agree with you, Kay. I too voted for Hilary Clinton but can never see myself doing the same for Obama.
And thus, the less worse of the two choices, I will vote for a Republican candidate for the fist time in my life despite my disgust of this party's cultures!!
You give the term 'woman voter' a bad name. They A hundred years ago the male political establishment used women like yourself as an example of why women shouldn't be given the franchise. You tend to prove the point of their argument if you actually are telling us the truth... and aren't just another one of those phony 'Hilary' supporters who are in reality Rovian Republicants.

Don't. Palin thinks Hillary is a whiner. That ticket is not the ticket for you, for us, for anyone. They don't respect women. They don't deserve your vote.

Sounds like bitterness and rationalizing to me.... The basic principles between the two parties on peace, social security, healthcare, and the super-rich should be the basis of voting, not personality or (most likely) an aversion to certain races.

Perhaps to most troublesome topic in this Election is the Commander-in-Chief issue. It comes over to me as something from the Latin America era of the 60-70's
We have become a "send the gun boats" nation because of the special inerest groups of the war machine. A policy of kill and distroy then send in Halibuton to rebuild and make money with non bid contacts, thats ok with GOP leaders but not to over 4000 dead troops
McCane has been and still is a big part of it he is well aware that he is at the age that is vunerable, but he wants to put his wife and himself 1st
I wonder what Cindy Mc thinks about him and his VP pick of a much younger gal along side him?
