There are thousands of applicants in each Congressional district, and only one of the applicants from each district gets accepted. So, just being accepted, enduring the grueling four years and graduating (ragrdless of rank) is a major accomplishment. McCain then went on to complete flight school and became a fighter pilot. Not exactly a track record of a dummy. Yes, only the best and the brightest of high school graduates are selected to attend the US Military Academies. However, if one is applying to enter Annapolis, it doesn't hurt if your father is an active Naval Admiral. As for McCain crashing five planes, most aviators would have been reassigned behind a desk, but not if your father is an a Naval Admiral. The same can be said for George W. Bush entering and attending Yale, while his father was a sitting US Congressman. Considering the position of power each of their fathers had, what were the chances their "genius" sons would have flunked out?

Before you throw that thing around, just remember that Joe Biden finished in the bottom of his law school class (76 out of 85). Another thing that you failed to realize is the the US Naval Academy is not an easy school and flying fighter jet off an aircraft carrier requires a lot of skills. By the way, are you or were, by any chance, a fighter pilot? Hmm...I didn't think so.

Now, he doesn’t have a leg to stand on when he tries to question Obama’s foreign policy experience. McCain can still question Obama's experience as he's at the top of the ticket. Palin is in a supporting role. I voted for Clinton and will likely vote for McCain now. At least being a journalism major Palin can write her own speeches and won't have to plagerize them like Biden.

That the biggest reason why I dont like the Dems. ITs do what you want but dont take responsibility. She doesnt kill animals, she hunts and eats her food. If a crisis occured were we were unable to get food Mrs Palin would survive, you wouldnt. How does she eat the animal without killing it? By the way, people can survive without eating meat! Also, to someone earlier who believes I am jealous....There is nothing on this earth that would make me less proud than to be associated with the likes of Bush, Cheney and McCain!

Well there are examples like this on both sides. How about "The idiot brother" Ted Kennedy. Kicked out of school for cheating, kills a woman driving drunk. Only through family ties has he gone anywhere in life. fly on the window wrote: <quoted text> Yes, only the best and the brightest of high school graduates are selected to attend the US Military Academies. Just Steve wrote: Here is a great piece of background on the Republican VP choice from Alaska. This comes from the Idaho Statesman and says a lot: "Officials at NIC and the U of I issued statements praising Palin’s leadership on Friday, but were unable to find any faculty or staff who remembered more than her face. Palin apparently didn't write for the college paper or work on the TV station, according to Kenton Bird, director of the school of Journalism and Mass Media." So they praise her leadership while she was at school, but they don't remember if they ever knew her. She was journalism major who never wrote anything or did any work on the campus television station. We do know, of course, that she was a sportscaster for a local television station. She believes Creationism should be taught in public school, and she is more against a woman's right to choose than John McCain, if that were ever possible. She's calling for drilling in the ANWR, and was upset that Polar Bears are going to be protected. This is shaping up to be the most devisive election cycle this country has ever experienced, with nothing less than that soul of these United States at stake. The Republicans have developed a ticket that promises to erode our rights, further impede our economic future, and create a greater divide the haves from the have nots. So, keep that in mind as you make your decisions this fall. Don't even bring up any kind of paper in college, because if you do, don't forget to bring up Michelle Obama's thesis at Princeton when she wrote: “There was no doubt in my mind that as a member of the black community, I was somehow obligated to this community and would utilize all of my present and future resources to benefit this community first and foremost.“ I guess, unless you're black Steve, you'd be SOL if Obama is in the White House.

I pray her son comes back alive...unlike the 4,000+ who were not so blessed. So, one must be a Vegetarian to qualify for high office? Your primary objection is that she is not a Vegetarian like you are?

If Palin were running against Condoleeza Rice, McCain would vote "Palin for President". If Palin were running against Mike Huckabee, McCain would vote "Palin for President". What does this say about McCain's judgement? It says his maverick style is not an independent streak but rather a loose-cannon. "What the hell, let's invade Iran today". Dude, what are you talking about? Do you have a hangover from last night or what? I guess it's too early out in the West coast eh? Go get some coffee first and come back to write something that makes sense.

convinced wrote: Now I'm really convinced which way I'm voting. If God forbid something happened to Obama, there's a VP with plenty of experience that we could trust and feel comfortable. If something happened to McCain we would be in the hands of a "hockey mom" who I would'nt be comfortable calling our new president. Now, that's very scary!! Oh please, Biden won something like 1% of the DEMOCRATIC votes in the Iowa caucuses and had to DROP OUT of the 2008 presidential race. If even Democrats themselves didn't think that he's qualified, what makes you think Biden is good enough for president? Yeah, if Biden truly has the "plenty of experience that we could trust and feel comfortable" (your quote) then shouldn't he be the top of the ticket instead of Obama the 143-day-experience weasel?

Terry wrote: Now lets see if the blowhards from N.O.W. will back a woman candidate? I remember when they picketed everywhere Sen Packwood went, but Molly Yard gave a pass to Clinton because he supported their causes. What a bunch of phonies! I was wondering the same thing. N.O.W. has always held itself out as a group that fights for that advancement of women. But, they have traditionally supported Democrats because Democrats are pro-abortion. BUT, N.O.W. isn't an abortion-rights group, they are a women's advancement group. With Palin, there is a real opportunity to advance women's causes as this would be the first time in our nation's 230+ year history that a woman will hold such a high position in government. You would think that N.O.W. would support such a cause. So what if Palin is pro-life, that's one issue. She is a woman who succeeded to highest level of state government and is now vying for the 2nd highest level of federal government....and she did it all without a man's help. She is a role model for young girls, you'd think N.O.W. would support that. We'll see.
