Really? How do you know? Maybe he did but thought it wouldn't be safe. Perhaps he wanted his children in a setting that included religious education. It is really unfair and presumptuous of people to think they should have anything to do with the personal/private decisions of politicians, paricularly in the case of someone who happens to be the parent of minor children. Students receive excellent educations at all types of schools; public, private, home, virtual, technical, magnet, charter, etc. Students have also had terrible experiences and substandard educations at the same types of schools.
Parents typically avoid a school because of the population of the students at that school. I know people who actually avoid certain curriculums or educational programs because of the socioeconomic make-up of the students who enroll in them. Often, the desire to control the 'cultural influences' their children are exposed to far outweighs what the child is interested in or prefers educationally.
The pros and cons of that particular behavior is another discussion for another day.
I think anyone who is constantly in the public eye should strongly consider the most secure place for their children to be educated. In most cases that means private school or even private tutoring when extensive time and/or travel is involved. It goes without saying that it would be impossible to secure the well-being of Malia and Sasha Obama in a public school or large parochial school setting. I most certainly would not want my child to be a classmate or even schoolmate of somebody who has to be guarded at all times.
There's a point when sensibility and consideration of others has to take precedence over an outsider's opinion of what someone does or decides.

PRIOR to Obama's arrival, that choice was given to poor parents in the DC system. The funding expired in 2009. Parents were outraged. Students had felt safer and been more apt to graduate with school choice.

Obama brought it back, finally, in 2011, after the Speaker twisted his budgetary arm. BUT the funding expires after a year. What a duplicitous sneak your guy is. Yeah, he cares for the poor, as long as his girls don't have to come in contact with their kids.

This guy would throw his own grandmother under the bus to get a vote....oh, wait, he's already done that...

Most politicians (including the far out liberals) in the District of Columbia send their children to private schools. To do otherwise, would put them into immediate danger. The politicians are not that stupid. Ghetto schools are (by far) the worst in the nation, no matter where they are.

The Democrat party keeps much of their voter base leashed to the above entitlements by way of lowered education standards that primarily exist in our inner cities.

This, and the high percentage rates of inner city single motherhood, usually guaranties a life long straight ticket Democrat voter.

No, on election day, they clear out the nursing homes and institutions, give them fresh "Depends" and deliver these "droolers" to the polls in their"liberal Limosines"! More Gas is consumed by liberals lining up voters on election day than any other.

Because children in the DC public school system are predominately black.

The truth is Obama knows public schools are a failure and only other people's children should go there.

DC had a Voucher program where poor people could take the tax money for their child's education in a public school and apply it to a private school of the parents choice.
