One thing is certain. HTS will reveal the callous and crude behavior of atheists by referencing examples like this forum. If i were to write on such a topic, I would have an entire chapter devoted to the measurable negative impact that atheism has on society. I don't. Know what HTS plans to focus on, but hopefully he will include this aspect of the problems with atheism.

That's ok, I don't mind if you write a book telling people how bad atheists are.

We're really bad! Really really!

Well madscot, sounds like HTS got under your skin somehow. You must be threatened by him. Interesting. He obviously must have hit some nerve with you. Otherwise you wouldn't react so defensively. If he's off publishing his book, how can anyone keep their foot on him? Do you know him personally perhaps? Maybe you are secretly colluding with him in this? Hmmm.that's an idea. Maybe you are in it with him on his book! Trying just to stir that old pot.
Mr. Beasley, I think you're on to something here. I think some of us come on these threads because we're angry at how we've been treated by Christians and Christianity. At the time, perhaps we didn't respond properly, perhaps we held our silence or listened to the lies of mythology without protest.

But not here, sir. Here, you come and make ridiculous claims well, you get a proper response.

The thing is, we're not arguing. There is no "creationist science," no "theory of intelligent design." None of those things hold any water in science and scientists don't care about your opinions - hence, they don't make it into the scientific literature or inform the direction of research.

Further, most of the logic employed by creationist Christians is poor. It's empty and runs on faith rather than critical thinking.

So you're right. I honestly don't think we're here to argue. I think we're here because of how Christianity has touched our lives negatively.

Oh boy...you really know nothing about medicine. You shouldn't speak like this...about things you know nothing about.
When you write this to a medical doctor who clearly has insights on the field who - perhaps you haven't read them - can offer expert opinions on obscure medical information, opinions you can't find on internet health sites, well, it just makes you look bad, Mr. Beasley.

It makes it look like you're just trying to attack IANS to hurt him. But don't worry on that part, he's immune to your attacks.

A buddy of mine was just on TV just two weeks ago discussing Stone Wall. He was there: http://www.youtube.com/watch...
I reminded him of this amazing run of events over two months in the summer of 1969:
Jun 22: Judy Garland found dead
Jun 27: Stonewall riots in NYC begins gay rights movement
Jul 17: Chappaquiddick and Ted Kennedy
Jul 16: Apollo 11 with Armstrong + Aldrin in the Eagle / Collins in the Columbia for 1st moon walk on Fri Jul 20th in Sea of Tranquility
Aug 9: Tate murders by Manson /Tex Watson / Susan Adkins / Patricia Krenwinkle / Leslie Van Houten – La Bianca murders the following night;
Aug 15: Woodstock begins
Amazing, huh?
I had to write about Stonewall for one of my minor contributions to social science - fascinating stuff! Political movements like Stonewall - yes, reactionary - fomented the "gay" identity. Hence, places like Japan only have a gay identity in a small minority of men who have sex with men.

I been called worse By Neanderthal Christians an Sore Azz Nazi's Quoting Historical facts to a racist of your species does little good but the facts are that Whites generaly tried to Disposses Enslave or Exterminate Native races. There were some Who were actualy concerned with Native wellfare and sought to treat Us fairly. The White majority fueled By Christian hate usualy overruled thier efforts and spread the kind of lies found in your posts. As Christian power an influence wanes both Whites and Natives in Indian Country are making great strides in mutual prosperity and Race relations. Today being White is no longer synonamous with being a "christard and a racist Don't that make your Azz raw. Many Whites can't stand Azzholes like you especialy the Women HehHehHeh! most atheists don't give a crap about other atheists, discussing evolution,'knowing more about religion than people who attend church', or converting people to atheism.
They went to church until their early teens, never read the bible, never really gave the whole thing much thought, and simply found better things to do with their time once their parents couldn't be bothered to use up Sunday mornings anymore.
25 million people in the UK are baptised. 1 million go to church regularly.
There is no conversion to Atheism. No epiphany after reading the bible cover to cover.
People take their kids when they're young, then just pack it in after they feel they did right by them because that's what they did and generally thought it was a good experience even if you never really bought into parting seas and rising dead.
It's like no longer believing in Father Christmas. It's not some intellectual process.
You are making a rather ignorant assumption here. Considering I was being primed for preaching when I was a child, part of that priming is being made to memorize the scriptures. Did you know that Mormons encourage and even have contests to encourage their children to memorize the scriptures even if they are not being primed for preaching? I'd wager that Mormons could put the rest of the christians to shame, and they have two books to memorize. Go onto YouTube, search the atheists for deconversion stories, we do talk to each other a lot actually, and you will see almost all of them had such an epiphany. Of course my broad assertion was dealing mainly with US atheists, but many of the ones on YouTube are from other areas as well.

Thunderf00t, one of such atheists on YouTube, was the one that coined the phrase "the internet, where religion comes to die." He's a transplant from Europe, Britain I believe, to the US. Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkins, and many other such great speakers know the bible inside and out, they often use it in speeches as examples of what's wrong with religion, they also know a lot about other religions. Ironically, in the US, the less pedophilic Catholic priests and nuns love discussing scripture with atheists, not in hopes of converting, but because we actually know it. They don't mind the followers not knowing it, because they also know it's full of a lot of garbage. The difference is claiming to follow a book that you know nothing about. So even if atheists knew nothing of the bible, that technically makes them a hundred times better than most christians, since most christians claim to follow the book yet know nothing of it.

<quoted text>
Interesting? Is that all you can say? How about that you are deeply sorry for the pain that your religion has caused unbelievers over the millennia.
Instead, you seem to be enjoying what you see as Madscot's discomfort. You seem to imply that it Madscot's shortcoming rather than an adaptive response to a real problem.
I feel threatened by your religion as well. You either haven't understood a thing that you've read here on that subject, or we don't matter to you.
Either way, your comment is a restatement of your entire religion's indifference to what you have done and still do to unbelievers, how deeply some of us resent it, and how pointless dialoguing with you people is - even with you so called "nice Christians" as somebody referred to you. What's a nice Christian? One who only gloats to himself about unbelievers being tortured rather than out loud?
Wow, good post!

I don't know a single Christian who believes that. Not one. You must have gotten this from your upbringing. Sure, some Christians are hypocrites. Not all. I don't gloat. I don't like it. I don't like rudeness or bad language. You know nothing about my religion by the way. My religion causes no pain on purpose. Peole can take things any way they choose though. You can't control those things. I don't wish anything bad to you or for you. I do think it's evil though to say all Christians should be killed like someone said on this link. It's criminal not athiestic. But that person so happened to be an athiest and that's not right.
Mr. Beasley! All people are hypocrites, not just Christians!

You're mistaken about Christianity, though. It's goal is to convert people to grow a power base. Hence, missionaries are sent out to all over the world - if you don't think that hurts people, you're not thinking all that deeply about missionaries or other peoples points of view.

Hurting people - by burning their deities and telling them they're going to hell - is part of the Christian conversion experience. It's part of Christian manipulation. You have to hurt people to manipulate them, that's like rule number 1 in manipulation.

Ask Princess Sue, she's a psychologist! She can explain these things to you slowly, if you like :)

This the measurable negative impact on society that atheism represents that I mentioned. I hope that HTS discusses this issue in his book. Atheists are commonly openly hostile towards anyone who doesn't subscribe to their atheist faith. Their attacks on Christians in particular are strawman arguments that simply have no basis in reality - much as their atheist faith has no basis in reality.

Probably not. I can only try and tell what I know of the truth. The trouble is, none of us has much knowledge about anything in this world; even the smartest of us. If we know a lot about one thing, we know next to nothing about another. I just don't understand how anyone, since the existance of God can't be scientifcally proven or disproven, would decide to slander or disrespect who might be their creator. Is it worth it? You can't know about life after death yourself until you experience it. Even though many people have had near death experiences, that doesn't scientifically prove it--yet it doesn't disprove it either. There are so many things we don't know about...why be disrespectful when you don't have to be?

The people who carried out the genocide certainly approved! They were Christians ~ not Christians like you, but Christians from that time period. I don't think you'd carry out genocide.

I read your bible cover to cover three times. No biggie.

It's pretty remarkable how many people that consider their bible the most important book in the universe have never thought about reading it, as you implied.

One question, you expect everyone to have read and studied all you have or think is relevant so my question to you is have you read the one book your arguing against ( The Holy Bible )?
I think that's more than one question packed tightly into one sentence!

1. No, I don't. But I expect people to argue honestly, especially when presented with evidence.

For example, if you make the claim "there is no New York Times newspaper" and I subsequently link you to their webpage, I expect you will say "oh, I guess I was mistaken" rather than "there is no New York Times newspaper!!!"

See, the first answer is honest, the second answer is lying. The first statement - no NYT - was honest, but after you've been shown the evidence, the second statement - no NYT - is dishonest.

2. Yes, I've read the Bible 4 times. However, you're mistaken. In my discussions with HTS, I wasn't arguing against the Bible. I leave that to people more knowledgeable about it - and there's lots and lots of people here who know more than I about that mythological book.

In my discussions with HTS I was pointing out he was incorrect, by using published science. Then he ignored all that and just kept saying the same BS over and over. So, not about the Bible, but about something much, much more important - biological science. The Bible has nothing on biological science, baby! It's just one religion's fiction. There's lots of religions on the planet and each one has a fiction - yaaaay for them!

Going shopping today? Then don't be surprised if you splash out on items that are that little bit different from your usual purchases. For instance, if you set off for the supermarket you might end up buying lots of exotic ingredients so you can experiment with them. This is unlikely to get out of hand unless you're feeling bored or fed up, in which case you'll want to spend your way out of your current mood.
