Obama’s Muslim Heritage
by Haroon Siddiqui
JAKARTA–Barack Hussein Obama Jr. spent part of his youth here in Indonesia, the world’s most populous Muslim nation.
The entrance foyer to his elementary school has a photograph, 2 metres by 1.3 metres, of the hajj, the annual Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia.
Ten steps into the crowded rectangular courtyard and you can see his old homeroom, adjacent to the stairway leading to the second floor mosque, where he studied Islam.
He had a different name then, Barry Soetoro, after his stepfather.
His mother, the Kansas-born Ann Dunham, first married a Kenyan, Barack Hussein Obama. Her second husband was the Indonesian Lolo Soetoro, with whom she moved here in 1967.
Obama was enrolled in a Catholic primary school, and then for his Grades 3 and 4 in what is now called the Model Primary School, a much-sought after public school in an elite leafy neighbourhood.
Three of his teachers have said he was enrolled as a Muslim. In his autobiography, Dreams From My Father, he mentions his Qur’an studies here.
A classmate of his in Jakarta has said that Obama used to wear a sarong and accompany his father to the neighbourhood mosque, but that his mother used to go to church.
Wow, The Toronto Star. What a stretch. Why not the Globe or the National Inquirer? So what about any of this. I was a Jew now I'm Presbyterian. Who gives a rats a.s.s!!! You racist pig!!!!

Here is an example: A poll was done today and it voted Obama most likely to be invited to a BBQ. That is racist. Older people will understand. Younger people will say yeah he would be cool to invite but, underneath it is quite racist.

Then, they focused on Michelle Obama and her choice of dress she wore on he View. Actually, it was a nice choice Black and White-at least she tried to pull the races together on that one. But, of course it could not be that she just chose a dress that was classic in style there had to be some underlining message. She was lovely either way.

There are people who will say anything because the truth is some do not want to see anyone other than a White male in the "White House". However, that is about to change. It may not be a Black man but, eventually some diversity will be there-so get use to it.

Forget about the dress thing.

Why is selecting Obama to come to a BarBQue racist?
McCain has barbques all the time. He would love to be invited to someone's barbque.

Keep grasping.....Did you vote for Bush per chance??? I would call you the "uneducated stupid white". I blame morons like you for the predicament we, as a nation, are in now. Your "stick your head in the sand" and absolute paranoid behavior classifies you as an unmitigated idiot. Why on earth would anyone in there right mind, are rational, and educated support the GOP after the last disastrous eight years.

Who is the idiot here???? Certainly not the people who want change in Washington. I would call those people enlightened.

By the way, I have a master's degree.

Barrack Hussein Obama is a CHOSEN NAME (funny EACH of the names is Muslim in history)... but that is his choice since this is a FREE country... what is more concerning to me is the FACTS that are his REAL history which reflect his completely SOCIALIST-MARXIST upbringing and the most influential people in his life that ARE NOT TALKED ABOUT... read the article here

Obama isn't too smart for the average person that checks up on politics or anything he talks about. If you would look it up, half of the things he is proposing is impossible to accomplish with the type of America that exists today. Oh and, if he really is too smart for us or even for his rival McCain, why isnt he agreeing to debate with him?
I'll tell you why: He is scared, he can't think quickly enough, he cant come up with rebuttles, he has no solid plan. And he wants to negociate with the head-of-states of the middle-east? This is a joke. Obama is the type of guy that would get schooled in a debate with some random activist.

Hmm it sounds as though you're describing Bush , and not Obama ... I don't recall Bush ever intelligently participating in a debate , let alone being able to come up with his own statements/opinions/etc., instead of having someone else doing his thinking for him ... to the best of my knowledge , he hasn't done all that great a job negotiating wit the Middle East ... he obviously has no solid plan on --anything--, as he's been given 8 years to better this country and ... we've actually gotten considerably worse . The list could go on , but unfortunately I don't have all day to list his shortcomings . Frankly , any candidate would (hopefully) be a better president than our current (although I'm pretty sure that McCain would just be a nother Bush ... God help us). So , on that note , I'm voting Obama ...and I believe he'll do a good job .

I have no problem that he is black, if I agreed with anything he is running on, I would vote for him. However, I really don't. With that said, I don't agree with McCain on what he says. I feel as this time, MORE than ever, there realy is no option that I could even vote for and sleep well at night.

I am an independent, I NEVER voted for Bush purely because he always seemed incompetent.

Who will I vote for, Honestly, for me, has nothing to do with race and I'm sick of hearing it. I see just as many white people at Obamo's rallys or speaches.

Will it be about race for some? perhaps, but just because you don't like his beliefs or what he is running on does not make one a racist.

On that note, I can only hope a strong 3rd party candidate enters the race who has some real answers instead of things that are most similar with a few differences that will never come to fruition...Then again, no one could do worse than the current President.

Liberals are brainless zombies. They jump on and off fads faster than junior high school girls. They do not think for themselves. They wait to be told what to do by rich snobs like Opra / Soros / Babs.

Oooooh I want to be a rich elite out of touch smug liberal too. Let's see if I vote for a guy with an exotic name and put a bumper sticker on my car maybe some rich libs will let me smell their rose smelling farts.

Memo to liberal followers - You have a brain, it may be slow but think for yourself.

Why would you have to negotiate with the Middle-East? They can't be negotiated with. Negotiatons only buy them more time to further their agendas. They won't be held accountable for what they promise. Negotiating with the middle-east is a silly idea, an idea Obama thinks will help your country, but an idea that will never help you in the middle-east, or never even happen. As for Bush, I never claimed Bush was a smart president. He's a dumb*ss as far as I and others in my country are concerned. I bet even our Prime-Minister finds him commical to hang around with, especially when he's doing a speech. Your country is engaged and has been engaged in a long time in a logic of war, and using fear to keep terrorists and rogue/menacing countries in line. Its what the USA is good at, and with Obama that logic will not survive, and the US will be dragged into the ground even more if thats even possible. Vote smart, vote for McCain, at least until the DEMS come up with a less dreamy candidate.

ROTFLMAO Have you SEEN John McCain speak. Heck, a newborn baby could learn to speak fast enough to respond for drone speech John. Gee, what did Bush do last week, negociate or appease N.Korea? Schooled in a debate? With a guy that made it through school but conections, not even "the skin of his teeth". You need to be more worried if John can physically handle a real debate. You post was the best laugh I had all day. The visual alone still has me laughing. Debate, ha ha ha. Thanks. I needed that!
