Excellent choice. Palin is far more qualified then Obama. Obama had everything handed to him as affirmative action appointments just because he was a well spoken black man and they wanted a black to hold the position. Obamas well spoken because he was raised by whites, big deal. He’s half black, big deal. Palin is 100% woman. Palin could also have been mainly a beneficiary of affirmative action and did not earn her way either, I don't know yet. But she played sports, hunts and fishes, she sounds like a tough lady who earned her way. Obama’s been in the senate, this is a group voting effort which does not require leadership. Palin was a governor, and she knows what it’s like to hold an executor position. Obama is an elitist who thinks he knows what’s best for us, thinks he knows how to spend our money wiser then we can ourselves, thinks he can tell us we are safer if he limits our right to bear arms. These are the types of people who make horrible decisions that go against the people’s wishes and what’s best for the country, it’s what got Bush into trouble in Iraq. Palin is much more down to earth, likely does not have Obama’s superiority complex, so she will not make rash foreign policy decisions that go against what’s best for us. She will consult with the military leadership on her decisions, where Obama will likely do it only for show; he will make the decisions based on his sides thinking alone.

The notion that Senator McCain would pick someone to stand a heartbeat away from the presidency who harbors creationist beliefs, believes that abortion even in cases of rape and incest is wrong, and does not believe in equal pay for women etc is cynical and debasing. To the writer who stated that Alaska is the largest state geographically -- I would say big deal .... in that case the mayor of Jacksonville, Florida has better credentials than Mayor Bloomberg. Further, her position as mayor was a part time position. Her job as governor in a state like Alaska is not by any means the same sort of job as let's say California. And although she is popular, in a state known for corruption (and btw she supported the bridge to nowhere until recently) she is being investigated for an ethical violation. The fact that McCain does not really know her demonstrates further how cynical the selection was. I think her selection was designed more to appeal to the Christian right than to women. Just because I share the same genitalia as someone does not mean that we have anything in common. It is an appalling decision. Having lived in Arizona for many years before returning east I can say I enjoyed McCain as Senator he was often entertaining ... but, a maverick: no he was not. If, you read Phoenix New Times or the New Republic they can explain his rise to the senate in a historically accurate manner. He voted with Bush over 90 per cent of the time. He also had ethical problems at one time (the Keating Five)... and furthermore his use of the vernacular C word to describe women (and then appointing Gov Palin as his running mate) demonstrates his contempt for women everywhere. Why don't those who question what I am saying ask his crippled first wife or his sister-in-law (she is an Obama supporter)... He is 72 and has malignant melanoma which is not something like a basal cell carcinoma it is a serious often deadly cancer. To do this is to spit on women, on democracy (Palin admitted she has no idea what the vp does and believes the US ought to be a theocratic state), and on the future of the world (since she does not believe in global warming). In other words she continues the attack on reason and rationality as we march two goose-steps further to the right ... NO way!!!!!

Cant wait how she can explain her stance on abortion to woman..she believe's in no abortion even in rape and incest cases. Oh yea woman think that is a great idea. McCain will be the oldest president in history if he takes office with a history of cancer and she will take over if he cant...the difference between her and obamas expereince has to do with the process..obama wom 18 million votes from his party in a long tough fought primary to maybe become president..Palin if ran in the primary process would not have beaten anyone..so she in a sense is a political hack that may make it to the white house....please..are you kidding me. My father is a WW2 hard core republican, but he is no partisan blind loyalist and said republican are just about winning not who would be best for the country just find what we need to win..ie; redneck white men and woaman and do it. Sad. He believes Tom ridge would have been a much better choice but the party heads just want to win. This is what is wrong with american's its never anymore about the good of the people its just about my guy beat yours ..so sad.

By the time the republicans finish their convention this week the nation will know of Obamas inexperience and radical background. The country will certainly embrace Palin over Obama because she bucked the political machine in Alaska, just what the citizens want(see the congressional ratings) compared to Obama who was created by the Illinois political machine. By the time of the VP debate Biden will be on the defensive.

The great thing about Obama winning the democratic nomination is how he used the race card against Hillary who throughout her political career pandered to minorities, especially the black vote. The race card has been used to polarize this country for a long time, even by the Clinton's, Americas first black president. HAHAHA Already in the liberal media it is being mentioned that if Obama loses, and he will, that it was racial. Unless every white person votes for Obama this country will be labeled racist by the media thugs. What a slap in the face to the people who vote for Obama.

Palin is the perfect Republican Vice Presidential candidate in the Bush/McCain same ole Republican agenda. Likes guns and the NRA like Cheney, wants to attack Iran like McCain, doesn't believe in global warming because its still cold in Alaska sometimes, wants to teach creationism in schools like it is a science to appeal to the christian right, and thinks that drill, drill, drill is the solution to energy independence because it fills the tank of her husbands snowmobile and pays for his oil pipeline job. I would like to see a woman in high office also but this certainly is not the one. Love to see her debate Joe Biden who should have been the Democratic candidate in my opinion.

Gee, I think drill, drill, drill was the cry during the industrial revolution as this country was being built. "Big Oil" was a friend. Today the Democrats who are Siamese twins with the fictitious global warming crowd are using their like minded friends in the media to bash 'big oil', namely Exxon every chance they get. Big oil will always be here. Our mistake was to rely on foreign oil, which is never considered 'big oil'. The combustible engine has been and always will be the most efficient and economical way to offer transportation. However we must use alternative methods to keep the price of oil at a reasonable cost.

ANWR is a tiny swath of land in the middle of nowhere surrounded by millions of acres of wilderness. Can't have it both ways and if we want $8 gas while we wait for alternative fuels to be developed, we can watch our economy tank at the same time. I suspect that McCain can now claim a reversal of his opposition to drilling in ANWR now that his running mate is the gov of the state which contains ANWR and she backs the plan. 50 years from now, liberals will be looking to take away the profits of "big solar" or "big hydrogen". Can't get the oil without "big oil".

Gotta love the hypocrisy of the mixed breed blacks. How often do you see Hollywood celebrities who love to say how proud they are of being a black women, namely Berry and Carey, yet totally ignore their white background. Yet if you look at their background its the white parent who raised them and now is ignored. Obama, who now needs the white vote, gladly mentions that he was raised by his white grandmother, what a switch. Yet you see his true feeling when he identifies her as 'that white woman', sound Clintonesce.

I agree with Mc Cain that Palin has had more leadership experience than Barack H Obama. She has demonstrated leadership under much diversity even among her own party. She is rock solid on her positions and convictions. How refreshing is that? Unlike her competition, she will not be guided by the polls.
