[Sen. John McCain called Wednesday for the construction of 45 new nuclear reactors by 2030 and pledged $2 billion a year in federal funds "to make clean coal a reality," measures designed to reduce dependence on foreign oil.]
"There are currently 104 commercial reactors in the United States, generating from 19-25% of our national demand for electricity, so proposing 45 more plants is a tremendous increase -- and McCain wants another installment of 55 when those are done. That's especially impressive when US demand for electricity went up only 0.2% last year and growth is expected to be 0.6% this year. Forty-five new nuclear plants is simply more than we need -- that is, unless McCain plans to stop the 114 new coal plants (.pdf) that are planned, with 47 already under construction..." [daily kos] |

My fellow Americans,
Let me remind you that those morons Pelosi, Reid, Schumer and the other libtards told us to make them the majority again and they would lower energy prices, and now since THEY started ruining, I mean running, Congress: Gas prices have doubled. Inflation is at its highest level in almost 20 years. Unemployment has increased by 10%. It's now up to 5.5%. The stock market has lost value. The dollar is wayyyy lower compared to other currencies. The mortgage crisis happened because democrats demanded people who had no right getting loans got them anyway, and when they couldn't repay them, they blamed the lenders. Energy independence is the key. More drilling and the fast-tracking of it. Nuclear power. Alternative energy development. Obama and the libtards are so tied to the evironmental nazis that even with gas prices at all time highs and showing signs of going higher, their answer is the status quo. DO NOTHING! Except sue OPEC and raise taxes on the oil companies. And take over the oil refineries to fuck up the system even more. These libtards make Teresa TDO look downright bright, saying "we can't drill our way out of this". WHAT THE FUCK??? How stupid do they think we are? HOW STUPID ARE THEY??? It's supply and demand, libtard MORONS. Increase the Goddamn supply OR THREATEN TO, and you watch the speculators start speculating that if supply increases prices will decrease, and OPEC will realize we mean business, and they'll start pumping more, and prices will fall. It's fuckin' basic economics! |

More flooding in the Midwest. Lots of looting. People shooting at helicopters. Oh wait! That was Nawlins. In the Midwest, people are following evacuation orders. They're helping out sandbagging the levees. They're not waiting for the gummint. Prolly none of them will be lving in FEMA trailers. Didja know that there are still refugees from Nawlins living in hotels? Yep! Some of them might even one day go out and look for a job. That is when they get around to it.

So what you are telling me, factually, is that if Cheney, Bush et al, have huge personal stakes in oil and oil-related securities, companies, etc and make decision that benefit them to the detriment of the national security or in lieu of better alternatives, that is perfectly fine because there might be some trickle-down benefit to individuals whose mutual funds or pension funds might own some of the same stocks. I suppose you therefore also support special interests in Washington using their wealth to benefit particular Congress people so they make decisions in their favor - and maybe some of the securities of these companies are also in mutual funds, etc. Data are not useful unless they are specifically related to the issue at hand. Random bits of facts, in other words, dropped into a discussion do not prove anything. And the "fella" comment reveals even more than your insistence on avoiding the core of the arguments. I've heard it before. Now who is it on TV and the radio that uses that term when trying to put someone down that refuses to agree with his blabbering .......... |

WOW!! These Democrats, libtards, or whatever are POWERFUL!! After Bush & Cronies have been in power for nearly 8 years (and can still either kill, stall, or veto any legislation they don't like), the DEMOCRATIC FORCE arrives and suddenly - out of the blue - the economy goes to Hell, oil prices skyrocket, the mortgage market tanks, our debt soars, inflation begins, health care costs go up, food prices go up. AMAZING!! |

No offense - but I think you are really out of touch with reality. I just gave you the breakdown of oil company holdings. A couple of assignments for you:
Did I just give you the facts on how oil companies are structured in terms of their ownership holdings? Yes or No? You need to tell me how Bush and Cheyney benefited by it. No more rhetoric - just your answer with fact. Next - you STILL did not answer my question of the difference between a profit and profit margin. No offense - I do not think you can. The second paragraph about data at the issue at hand is more jackass-ish. I just dispelled your argument about Bush and Cheyney and the oil - which is the reason I had responded with the numbers. Your last paragraph is not relevant - but you keep changing the argument with again, is typically liberal. I will give you opportunity to back up your statements. A couple of more questions: Do we drill? If so - do we drill in AMWR, Bakken, Colorado/Utah and off Florida? Do we further become self reliant to our own resources by building nuclear power plants, additional refineries, etc? What is it about Obama's cap and trade proposal and to tax those windfall profits that you like - how will it help the economy and the reduce the price of gasoline? That is it. Provide your answers with your logic. I am sure the other posters would like to see it as well. |

1. In spite of your highly misplaced arrogance and feeling of superiority, I don't take "assignments" from you. 2. You really don't want to challenge me on an understanding of "income" "net income" "EBITDA" "non-recurring expenses" "profit margins" Debt/Equity Ratios, etc. 3. The other posters have seen enough of both of our postings 4. No way I live in the "reality" you seem to exist in- fella. |

Sgt - I am trying to get the answers on your positions that are short and concise. I am joking with you on the "assignment" part. Superiority to me is surrendering power to my government - which is what your party wants. Issues - such as nationalized healthcare, tax increases, baby bonds, retirement. Giving power to the government increases their superiority over me, you and all americans and makes everybody more dependent. Is that what you want? If so - then I understand.
I would challenge you on financial terms anytime (LOL). Are you an accountant? It becomes an integral part of discussing the economy and the impact on the positions of the folks we want to put into office. My point about profit and profit margin is that oil companies revenues are a function of volume and not margin. For example - banks, financial services and bio-tech revenue is more than DOUBLE of that of oil companies per dollar. Going to more renewable sources of energy is a good idea, but we cannot pull a switch overnight and go to it. The country is in a serious downward spiral right now as the oil prices are effecting not only the price of gas to you and me - but to the transportation sector. I live in the Jersey area - two trucking companies have gone out of business. That is a problem, sir. So that all said - we need to come up with a solution that will not kill the economy and the US consumer- unless that is what you want. |

McCain can scream about Obama being bad for business but he's talking loud and ain't saying nothing. They release how his tax plan would benefit him and the rich and ALL HIS LOBBYIST FRIENDS, and it doesn't look good. Then I look at how Obama ran his campaign he is sooooooooooooo organized his handlers and the internet has been his biggest tool. You can't convince this man can't run nothing. He out ran the Clintin Machine mud sling and all. to Me that's amazing.
John and Cindy McCain would reap $373,429 if McCain’s tax proposal were enacted.» In a new Center for American Progress Action Fund analysis, Michael Ettlinger documents how much the presidential candidates stand to personally benefit from the McCain and Obama tax proposals. The McCains — who report an annual income of over $6 million — would receive well over $300,000 from John McCain’s tax plan. By contrast, both the Obamas and McCains would receive a substantial, albeit much smaller, savings under Obama’s tax plan: John and Cindy McCain Barack and Michelle Obama Savings Under McCain Tax Plan $373,429 $49,329 Savings Under Obama Tax Plan $5,641 $6,124 |
Ok, I am going to start with basics. 1. I am a free-market capitalist - within the context of intelligent regulation designed to assure anti-trust compliance, etc. 2. We do control our government through elections - until they get distorted by wealth/special interests and the Executive Branch assumes dictatorial powers by signing orders, stacking the Supreme Court, assigning key posts based on loyalty rather than competence. 3. Today, for example, oil interests dominate the political and special interest arena. They industry margins are not the pivotal factor because they are a oligopoly that controls the "effective" supply and distribution of a vital resource through direct and indirect (exploration, research, refinery, and other investment decisions. They are currently representative of most industries in that they follow the bidding of "investors" to maximize short-term profits - regardless of the realities of longer term energy needs. As the Rockefeller family tried to point out to EXXON, they are an "energy" company and should be shifting their "profits" to alternatives/longer term solutions. 4. I happen to believe, based on a ton of reading over the past 10 years, that our foreign policy and this current war are absolutely tied into oil interests - not the best interests of the country or the world in general. 5. Financial services margins have been high because we are allowing usury rates in credit cards and biotech margins are either very high or non-existant. 6. We keep putting off making a real commitment to alternative fuels as if the issue will somehow resolve itself. It won't and the longer we wait the higher the price - to our grandchildren. In this regard, it is like the current war. Send the economy into debtor nation status instead of asking us all to pay for it now. We seem totally unwilling to make any sacrifices ourselves for a better future. 7. Hence, I will work toward throwing the old regime out in hopes that "we" can convince a new one to work in our better interest, to be honest, to ask for sacrifices where they are needed, and to pull the oil nipple out of our mouths as quickly as possible. |

.... all the way to the bank!!
Well it's official. DOW CLOSED AT ABOUT 11,845 A 1.75% LOSS FOR THE DAY. Just think while you were blogging today you were losing $1750 of your $100K nestegg in 401k mutual funds. Should have been filling out the paperwork to GET YOUR MONEY OUT OF REACH OF THE GREEDY WALL STREET EQUITY SHAVERS YOU FOOOOOL!!! As of today whatever you put in your 401K mutual funds for your retirement has had 15% looted already by the whales who are manipulating Wall Street. Only 600 more points to drop (which has been the decline over the last 10 market days) and you will all be 20% poorer than you were just 8 months ago. You are all fools to keep your money on the table where the thieves consistently keep shaving it away through their pump and dump strategies being financed by George Bush and the Federal Reserve Board. I think you deserve to lose it all and be living in a dumpster for your retirement for being so stupid and trusting it to the thieves running the show. At least I was smarter then you and pulled my money out of my 401K months ago. Even with the 10% IRS penalty. I still have multiple thousands more than I would have had it if I left in to be pillaged. The crash is happening in slow motion you lemmings but it is happening. But I am sure you will just continue to sit on your hands and believe the lying "we have to stay the course" BS that the "Liar in Chief" tells you because you are good and faithful party hacks, while the fat cats transfer your money to their accounts. But at least they can say, "well we tried to tell them but they wouldn't listen so our conscience is clear" No need to "pity the fool" at all. ROFLMAO at the stupidity. |
The problem is you are taking this quotation out of context. He was saying that this is the way things are working now "not" that this is the way it is actually supposed to be. He is saying that this was the attitude that has to be beaten not that this attitude is all right. |
|
When you pulled that 100K out weren't Income Taxes charged? How'd you come out paying the Tax on that money? |
