Full story: Belleville News Democrat

Oil and gasoline prices are sinking, giving relief to businesses and consumers who a few weeks ago seemed about to face the highest fuel prices ever.

When a nitwit thanks the lord marshal b. h. obama for lowering gasoline prices it's like thanking someone who burglarized your home.

Please explain just when, and how, Obama used his executive powers to lower the price of gasoline.

About the only thing Obama has succeeded in lowering since he took office is America's credit rating, the number of people employed, the number of people that should be deported and America's credibility abroad.

Sigh...
Sarcasm.
its a literary device
Having to explain it kinda takes the fun out of it.
Remember how the Frightwing was all in a lather
that Obama should lower gas prices?
Gas prices are now down. so Obama gets the credit, right?
Also, if you can remember that far back,
the AAA credit downgrade was the direct result of the
Teabagger controlled House'e REFUSAL to even engage in a meaningful
dialect regarding a budget compromise.
Just like they're about to do again.

You are absolutely clueless.

But Obozo could use his authority to lower gas prices. How? By issuing a moratorium on all gas taxes. That would cut the price of gas almost in half overnight.

But Obozo won't do that of course. Gubment makes several times more tax-profits per gallon of gas than those evil oil companies make in profits.

Gubment is the ultimate corporation...and Obozo is the CEO...his product is America's destruction.

Yes, sarcasm is a literary device that rarely ever comes across as such on Topix. It works much better when speech inflection gives it weight.

Perhaps the Dumbocrats refusal to pass a budget for 3 years running had something to do with the credit downgrade, don't you think? Or are you not capable of remembering that far back?

Gas prices down? Perhaps a few cents per gallon, but they are still twice what they were when Obama took office.

Obama is as much of a president as he was an Illinois legislator.

Just so there is no misunderstanding..... no sarcasm there.

The Green River Formation, a largely vacant area of mostly federal land that covers the territory where Colorado, Utah and Wyoming come together, contains about as much recoverable oil as all the rest the world’s proven reserves combined, an auditor from the Government Accountability Office told Congress on Thursday....

The GAO testimony said that the federal government was in “a unique position to influence the development of oil shale” because the Green River deposits were mostly beneath federal land....

“USGS estimates that the Green River Formation contains about 3 trillion barrels of oil, and about half of this may be recoverable, depending on available technology and economic conditions,” Mittal testified.

In her written testimony, Mittal noted that three-fourths of the Green River shale oil is under federal land.

Or it could have been the Frightwings relentless re-presentations
of unpassable, unrealistic, corporate welfare/austerity measure budgets?
Gas in CO on 1/22/2008 was $2.95/Gal so to say it's doubled is a strech, at best.
($3.49 when I left last week)
This Administration and the 112th Congress has been a jaw dropping dissapointment.
I don't see that changing regardless of the outcome of the 2012 election.

Maybe Shell's experts working in-situ and underground can discover how to heat rocks in place and pump oil up through shale. I wish them luck. The oil shale reserves in Western Colorado represent the largest concentration of hydrocarbons in the United States, yet to date no technology has made oil extraction from shale economically and environmentally feasible. Let's wait for a proven technology that does not squander water, pollute the air, and threaten wildlife and archaeological sites. The Old West was boom and bust. The Next West must embody environmentally and socially responsible energy development.

The current Federal gas tax is $0.18.4/Gal
State tax avgs $0.50/Gal
Suspending both those would save you +/-$0.70/Gal
The last time CO voters wisely decided to let out-of-state energy companies make off with our
Oil & Nat Gas w/o taxing them, CO Road & Bridge came up
$300,000,000.00
short on funds.
The reaction was to raise vechicle registrations 300%
Some savings.

Gas prices rise over $1.00 more per gal then go down $.50 and everyone is happy gas prices are down?!?!?!!? Really? Are we that gullible?
I know in Jan 2009 gas prices were $1.84 p/g and now they are $3.60+ Hello!! To me that's DOUBLE the price in just 3 1/2 years!!
Gas prices are up.
Food prices are up.
Electicity prices are up.
Water prices are up.
Wages are DOWN.
Employment participation rate is down to 1981 levels.
We no longer count American citizens who have dropped off the unemployment benefit lists as if they don't even exist anymore!
Are you better off then you were before Jan 2009? I'm not!!

Most industry insiders agree,
The Oil Corps have got us used to paying
$3.50+/Gal.
We'll never see gas for less than $3.00/Gal in our lifetime.
Wait til you see what 'Big Bussiness" is gonna do to water!

You mean "Big GOVERNMENT"? Once they strap us with all their regulation to make their enviromental nutjobs happy we'll be lucky to afford to DRINK water.

Remember what Obama said (HIS OWN WORDS!!). Under my plan electricity prices will NECESSARILY skyrocket!

The Democrats had control of both houses of congress for 2 years and still couldn't pass a budget.

Gas was $1.62 here when Obama took office. It is $3.35 now, down from $3.89 two weeks ago.

I agree that there is little expectation of change after the election.
