You are mistaken.
Warren Jeffs is not a prophet.
Sure he is, he said so, just like Joseph Smith did. He can trace his authority to JS. And the truth is that he obeys the teachings of JS better than any LDS GA alive today.

Think about it. If a LDS member goes to the temple, is the church to blame for that? If they go on a mission, is the church the blame for that? Yes it is. Why, because it is what the church is teaching them to do. If gay members are killing themselves because they believe the churches teachings that being gay is next to being a murderer to God, then yes, the LDS church is partly to blame. The LDS church can't take credit for any good it does because of it's teachings and then deny the blame it deserves for any bad that happens because of those same teachings.

You just made a valid argument. I understand your point and I do believe that for some the pressure of it all could drive them to suicide and yes at that point the church would hold a part in that. I still dont think its an epidemic and cary was accurate in his statement that suicide statistics show higher outside the church than in it. All of that being said parents must learn where to draw the line between whats best for their kids and the church. As for me, my kids win out everytime.

Yes, but do you work with the public where they wear being a "hillbilly" like it's a badge of honor?:-) Hence my user name. I'm literally living in the land of crazy.:-)
LOL actually I do. Being a redneck here is considered a good thing. Personally I can't stand it. It is normal here to see people with curlers in their hair at the grocery store.

Don't forget what goes along with those curlers... Camouflage and NASCAR attire.

Ugh. I live in an area where Nascar is considered gospel. I am a basketball junkie but it is really the only sport I am big on. Where I live people still give directions like this.......... " Go bout a mile up there and make a right by that old red barn, you will see it right up yonder on that hill." So I know exactly what you are talking about.

Not place blame on the church??? It was the Q12 who sponsored that shock therapy crap!
Electro aversion therapy was used on volunteer subjects at BYU as a study, as it was at many other universities in hospitals in the 1960's and 1970's. It was found to be ineffective, and the study was discontinued ay BYU in the 1970's.

However, electro aversion therapy still has it's supporters today, though the LDS Church is not one of them:

If you feel electro aversion therapy is an issue, then I suggest you take it up with those who still advocate for it, rather than harp on a college study that ended nearly 40 years ago.

You may believe so, that is your choice. But you are a Mormon hater, thus, your opinion cannot be trusted.

You may continue your actions as long as you wish, misguided as they are.

In the meantime, people are dying in the secular world, and you don't care, because you are blinded to reality in favor of your personal insanity.

Exactly. Where I live the whole town shuts down on the opening day of deer season. Then they drive up and down Main Street with the deer they shot strapped to the hood of their trucks to show off. I'm telling you, it's crazy.

I'm not gay, and generally I'm not so agreeable to gay relationships. I admit that.
But to the gay people in here, I'll support you over the LDS church 100%. And if I can contribute to you defeating them at every political and social effort, then godspeed to you.
To the LDS church, you polygamous polytheistic racist hypocrites, I hope you're forever marginalized.
So you don't just hate. You have levels of hatred. Hahahaha, you amaze me. You basically just said, I hate gays but not as much as Mormons. What is worse is that you freely admit that under normal circumstances you don't agree with gay relationships but you are willing to lower your Moral standing if it means helping to breed a new hatred for Mormons. You know. NoMo can be a real pain but ATLEAST her arguments from what I can tell are because maybe she actually does care about others. I don't agree with her and she never listens to me but I get her agenda. You on the other hand have one selfish agenda. You only want to breed hatred and animosity. That is really sad.

I agree , Warren Jeffs is not a prophet but I do get what Dana was saying. Also, I don't think he is a Mormon hater. He may hate the religion itself but he sees each of us as people not as just another Mormon. That has been my experience with him anyway. His disagreements with us doesn't mean he hates us. I find him pleasant.

I agree and using topix to try to help and save people is absolutely ineffective, delusional, and a waste of time.

On this I will agree. I think maybe her intentions may be good, but you are right. There are far more suicides outside the faith than in it. We can all talk about it, but doing something about it is what will make the difference. I think her efforts on this could be better spent answering phones at a suicide hotline.

How do you know? Did they tell you that on mormon.org ? Tell us what the difference is between the two, if any.

An assumption on your part. I know I actively fight against gay bigotry everywhere, including in my own church. Whereas I'll bet dimes to dollars you have never said one negative thing about Mormonism or ever once openly disagreed with it. When the leaders says "the thinking has been done", they never got an argument out of you about it.
