I'm almost certain Dephinis et al are employees of the King of Saudi Arabia. The King has them in front of keyboards and is paying them to put up road blocks against anything that threatens the King's colossal revenue source. America do not listen to these people. We can break our BIG OIL habit.
Brazil has already broken its BIG OIL habit and has one of the world's booming economies. So anything these employees of the King say can be discredited by the fact that one country has already done it.

Theres a plant in Georgia that will be producing ethanol from cellulose next year. The technology exists and the plant will start producing next year. Jobs will be created, tax dollars will be created. This will be a renewable fuel produced by Americans for Americans. However, for some reason republicans can't see these benefits and instead say things like"drill here, drill now" all in unison like a bunch of brainwashed zombies. Somebody please clap your hands or snap your fingers and bring these fellow Americans out of their trance.

Wrong on both counts. Your rights come from God, not the Constitution; and Bush hasn't taken any away.

Tell that to the people of Hiroshima.. Or Nagaski

How many are dead? Cancer rates are how high??
The data for Chernobyl is poor. However the data for Hiroshima and Nagasaki is quite good and indicates an increas in cancer of about 2% for very large radiation doses. The natural radiation levels in Kerala Province, India and Ramsar, India are much higher than anyone will ever get from radioactive waste. Of course, so are the natural radiation doses received by the people of Colorado and Wyoming. The seven states with the highest population radiation doses are among the ten states with the lowest age-adjusted cancer mortality rates.

What do you thik about the natural reactor at Oklo?

The things he proposes would just about destroy our economy if it didnt entirely and do it in a way that would FORCE everyone to his way of thinking. Thats a dictatorship not a democracy or a republic. The fact is the Church of Global Warming has turned most of us that are reasonable and want BOTH sides of the story off to any argument you or any other global warming disciple wnat to tell us.
Heck i ride a motorcycle almost all year round and have for a long time even when gas was .89 a gallon. I HAVE a minivan but if there isnt snow on the ground or if its just me i dont drive it. I only use it when me and my wife and kids go out or if i have to pick up a large item. Ive been getting 45mpg for the last 14 years how about you?
Its only considered a cult because your fossil fuel religion considers anything not using fossil fuels as an energy source as heresy. I'd love to be able to ride a motorcycle year round - heck I wish I could ride a bicycle but being born with short arms prevents me from being able to ride those forms of transportation safely. However, I did trade in my 2004 Dodge RAM 4x4 quad cab for a Toyota Camry Hybrid that I am currently getting 40mpg in. That's the sacrifice I've made and it at least now gives me the moral authority to be able to people out when they step on the accelorater too hard or just one person riding around in a quasi-military type vehicle (aka the Hummer). Not every person advocating the conversion away from oil is someone who wants to save the "Spotted Owl". I would say many of us want to increase our country's security profile by not giving any more money to people interested in our destruction as a society. It is certainly cheaper and more practical than blowing the nearly trillion dollars spent on this misbegotten war. Personally I believe we need to transition away from oil and fossil fuels because ultimately it will secure our nation's and our children's future.

People in my hometown need to learn more about what depleted uranium really is. It isn't nuclear waste. It is natural uranium with some of the more radioactive uranium removed. Thus it is less radioactive than natural uranium

Sorry, I'm not buying this. Which rights have you lost? What can't you do now that you couldn't do before?

They already have millions of acres.... and don't tell me oil isn't there i know better. it's just harder to get to then anwar. or maybe the price of oil will go down with the increase of oil output......
hmmmmmmmmmmmm wonder which it is.
Personally I think it is the latter. Oh and nevermind the fact that by being able to say they control these new leases the value of their company goes up, meaning share prices goes up. They do not give a fig about actually drilling for oil they just want to be able to drive their stock price up (erego bonuses in the form of stock options) by being able to say they control the leases to that oil. That's a lot cheaper than actually drilling for it.

T. Boone Pickens is a republican. He knows a lot more about the oil business than "The Mayor". Hes 80 years old and has been in the oil business his whole life. What does he say? Go read it for yourself. He says "we can't drill our way out of this one".
Pickens has invested heavily in wind power having purchased giant turbines from GE. I would say that he is right to a certain degree; however, we can lower gas prices by drilling domestically.

....doubt it. Oil will always be used for energy. But here's some things that you use everyday made from oil or coal.

Inks
plastic
paint
styrofoam
steel
furniture
fibers
wax
foams
cleaners
dvds
fertilizers
soaps

As you can see the list is expansive. Oil has been the greatest discovery since man first discovered fire.

I've seen it come from both sides of the argument. But I'll have to say the ones coming from the left are not nearly always as crude as the name calling from the right.

This country desperately needs someone to lead on this issue. Each one of us individually reusing, recycling, driving less, driving slower, etc., etc., etc.,
I thought that leading was setting an example to follow. We would be in a world full of hurt if everyone claimed to be experts (without the proper education in the field) and toured the world in private jets, and large motorcades, while living an energy wasting lifestyle like Al Gore.

I would rather follow an honorable man who tried to practice what he preaches, like Jimmy Carter, than a hypocrite like Al Gore.

I think Al Gore's credibility is shot. Even if what he says were correct, and that is demonstrably false, he has become a caricature of a shyster selling hot stereos out of the trunk of his car. Psssttt... you... come 'ere... I've got something for ya!

No thanks, Al... no thanks...

I really don't have a dog in the hunt... can't stand right or left venom and am neither Democrat or Republican. I prefer simple truth. However, from a somewhat objective (and non-partisan) viewpoint, I've always found that the left is much more vociferous, and downright mean, than the right. Just my observation.

Liberals need to take better notes on the committess they sit in!

I watched Democrats grill the oil company executives; telling them how Americans are all hurting finiancially at the gas pumps.

Then the very next week they tried to pass a greenhouse gas bill that had a 57 cent gasoline tax increase in it!

So how can they say one day how they know we are paying to much at the gas pump then vote to raise the tax on gasoline, making it cost even more!

They seem to have short term memory loss!
