Do Vice Presidents Matter?
The hype surrounding Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's nomination to the Republican ticket has led to speculation by political analysts about the role.

I never really thought about the fact that these two will simply be tapped for their respective experience bases. It still seems sort of symbolic, the experience, but it does seem likely that these are the areas that they would focus on in office.

If that is the case, what exactly will Palin be concentrating on in office?

It matters when the president is 72 years old and has a history of melanoma.

Perhaps in the long run they do matter. Ya know, in case of assassination. Or just to make the president look cool...

Well, what happens if McCain dies? It really should matter a lot.
It should matter except to the dog that chases its own tail, thinking it is another dog's "tale". |

I think that the Vice is mor like the white houses Red-Shirt...

It matters a lot if the president is 72 years old, with a history of cancer. As they are saying Palin could be 1 melanoma away from President-- that is scary-- she is so incompetent you think they country is in trouble now what would happen with her??????

Of course it matters, at Mc Cain's age and with his health issues. Not to mention that he suffers from PTSD, and only his doctors know what else, as they wouldn't disclose his medical records!
Palin's "executive experience" consists mainly of being the mayor with an entire population,(including children) about equal to the number of students in a large high school. Now, if she had been principal of a large intercity high school, where she had to deal with drugs, gangs, inter racial tension, HIV, STD's, poverty and teenage pregnancy among students that have only one parent and no heath care, then, at least, she may have a keener sense of reality. Let's face it, folks, Alaska is a beautiful state, but it's not mainstream America. Again, being the Gov, of Alaska, whose entire population is less than many small cities, for 16 months...9 of those months she was pregnant and 5 of those months she had an infant "with special needs". Let's face it, most women are sick for the 1st 3-4 months, anywhere from; not too good to great months 5-7 and uncomfortable to downright miserable, physically especially the last month. So how much quality time did she truly have to Govern her state and take care of her family? I'm not a math major, but it just doesn't add up to much.(I know some have no trouble at all during pregnancy, but that is the exception!) The reality is, she doesn't have the experience of living in mainstream America. The Alaskan wilderness is a far cry from the urban jungle that most of us live in. John Mc is an old man with failing health. This is serious. She's attractive, she's a working mom, she shoots moose, but, she doesn't have what it takes to run our country. Maybe she would be most valuable to us in Alaska, where she may be needed to protect us against the Russians, if after all, they decide to invade us, it could start in her own backyard. |

I think it does.
1) McCain is pushing Palin as qualified to run this country even though every action she's made proves otherwise. 2) She says she's going to work on energy, ethics and health insurance programs. All of which she lacks experience. Also: in 2000, when McCain was asked about being Bush's running mate. He said, "the job of a VP is to attend funerals for heads of countries and ask the president daily how his health is and I have no desire to do either one." So, if that is truly his belief, then is her once again lying to the American people or to Sarah Palin. It's obvious when you look at him now when he's around her, his smile has turned into a cringe. I doubt that even he believes she's qualified, but he put her out there and now he has to back her. www.mcnasty-barracuda.com |

John Nance Gardner was right - the vice presidency isn't worth "a warm bucket of spit" (although reporters allegedly changed the spelling of the last word for print.)

And we appreciate Obama even more. Though his experience in a political office caused Illinois to go even worse than it was before. Maybe you can call them associations or friends or maybe accidents. More people died in Chicago than Iraq this year. Chicago pays the highest sales tax in the United States. Chicago's debt has increased as its sales tax has increased. Blagojevich has screwed up so much that everyone is calling for his resignation. Cook County's top officials are all relatives and several hereditary positions are being created. I would rather have Palin. |
