In an announcement that has to be awkward for many liberals, Democrats and union supporters, former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel confronts Chicago teachers unions who are demanding among other things, a 24% raise in pay over the next two years, with what appears to be a classic “Chicago way” attitude. ChicagoTribune wrote: “While the union and Chicago Public Schools have been making progress in some areas, they remain far apart on several key issues, including compensation and the district's efforts to link teacher pay to student performance, union officials said.
The union entered negotiations asking for a 30 percent wage increase over two years, which it said was commensurate with working a school day that will be about 90 minutes longer in the fall. The district's opening offer was a 2 percent raise over two years and a form of merit pay in later years.
Since taking office a little more than a year ago, Emanuel has stripped the teachers of a 4 percent raise, successfully pushed for a longer day and advocated for more privately run charter and turnaround schools. The mayor, who did not address the strike vote Monday, has said teachers deserve a raise.
A mayoral spokeswoman released a statement that praised teachers while calling their initial salary demand unrealistic.
"At a time when our graduation rates and college enrollments are at record highs — two successes in which our teachers played an integral role — we cannot halt the momentum with a strike," said Emanuel spokeswoman Sarah Hamilton. "Our teachers deserve a raise, but our kids don't deserve a strike and taxpayers cannot afford to pay for 30 percent raises." Chicago Tribune: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/brea... http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/education/... Where’s the outrage? Where are the throngs of people occupying the State Capital building, the masses of union teachers and their kids protesting in the streets, the very vocal calls for Emanuel to be deposed, recalled or whatever? Is it just me or can everyone else actually hear crickets chirping for all the attention THIS story is getting? I wonder why?

You are just another annoying rightwing spin-meister, your every post is either ill-informed and/or misrepresented. The ‘no-child-left-behind’ legislation was proposed by G. W. You have got to kidding lets stick with reality, between Reagan, Bush I and Bush II they spend over $9 Trillion it makes Obama look like a miser. It is easily documented, at least with the sane ones among us.

These two groups operated worldwide, running schools, universities, missions, seminaries, etc. In 1989, a former Legion priest wrote Pope John Paul II about a history of sexual abuse perpetrated on him and others by Fr. In 1998, the victims filed a request for church prosecution in the Vatican with Cardinal Ratzinger. In 2006, after investigating Maciel, Pope Benedict removed him from ministry. Maciel died in 2008, and in 2009 reports surfaced that Maciel had also fathered several children. The Legionaries of Christ are now under Vatican receivership and an investigation of Regnum Christi is underway. Long after the abuse allegations became public, Maciel, the Legionaries of Christ, and Regnum Christi continued to enjoy support from many conservative leaders and celebrities, who spoke at conferences, assisted in fundraising efforts, etc. They include Rick Santorum, Jeb Bush, Mel Gibson, William Bennett, George Weigel, Mary Ann Glendon, Carlos Slim and the late Fr. Either former President Bush savagely harmed the economy by over spending – and that would mean President Obama is also savagely harming the economy by doing the same… Or President Obama is actually supporting and growing the economy by his government spending – which would seem to indicate former President Bush was doing the same thing when he was in office… People can’t claim it to be one way for President Bush, and an entirely different way for President Obama, it just doesn’t make any sense, particularly since much of what President Obama is funding is much of what former President Bush was funding, or had proposed to fund. I think it is just another attempt at Politically Partisan 'smoke-and-mirrors', regardless of the specifics or actual facts – President Bush is clearly to blame for just about everything - where as President Obama is clearly not to blame for almost anything. I think that about says all that needs to be said, so far as I’m concerned.

Not exactly, clearly Obama’s desperate (if I may call it that) injection of money into the economy is a ‘one time spending’ to save the economy, as opposed to Bush’s spending, like the prescription drugs, the wars and tax cuts keep on adding to the debt year after year. Furthermore, had Gdub stuck with Clinton’s fiscal policies we would actually have a balanced budget. Obama is getting a raw deal from the rightwing as being labeled the biggest spender in history, that distinction goes to the GOP and they categorically refuse to even talk about it – let alone acknowledge it. http://zfacts.com/p/318.html

And despite offers from other universities and NFL football teams, including an ownership stake in the New England Patriots, Paterno remained at Penn State, where his base pay was only a fraction of that of other top football coaches in the country. His base pay in 2011 was a little less than $600,000. He and his wife, Sue, donated more than $4 million to the university, which named a library and a campus spirituality center for them.
Paterno was also involved in politics, supporting conservative candidates in Pennsylvania and befriending presidents George H.W. Bush and Gerald R. Ford, who tried but failed to convince the coach to run for office.
Paterno spoke at the 1988 Republican convention in support of Bush.
Bush's son, President George W. Bush, visited Penn State's campus in 2005, noting his respect for Paterno.
"I tell you one thing about Joe Paterno, there's no more decent fellow on the face of the Earth," Bush said. "What a man, who sets high standards, he loves his family, he loves this university, he loves his country, and my mother and dad love him."

Obama=3 years in office and over 5 trillion spent. Tell us again how you're a millionaire if you earn 250K.

Canada Bracing for Massive Influx of Wisconsin Boat People Coast Guard on Alert OTTAWA (The Borowitz Report)– The Canadian coast guard was on alert today, preparing for what it fears could be a massive invasion of boat people from Wisconsin. Conor McGlindon, commander of the Royal Canadian Mounted Coast Guard (RCMCG), said that satellite photos had revealed a “substantial flotilla” in the making, as Wisconsinites prepared to flee their state for their neighbor to the North. “Word has gotten around that we have policemen, firemen, and basic school lunches up here,” Mr. McGlindon said.“You can’t blame these boat people for seeking a better life. But we are under orders to intercept them.” In Canada, officials fear that refugees from Wisconsin will brave the treacherous journey across Lake Superior in the hopes of giving birth to so-called “anchor babies” on Canadian soil. Mr. McGlindon offered reporters a look at satellite photos showing the boat people larding their vessels with wheels of premium cheddar cheese, possibly in the hopes of bribing Canadian officials on Superior’s northern shore. “We are telling all of our men that under no circumstances should they accept offerings of cheese,” he said.”These boat people are desperate and they will try anything.” Reports of the looming refugee crisis coincided with the release of a new poll showing that Gov. Scott Walker is now the most hated man in Wisconsin, narrowly edging Brett Favre. Speaking at the state capitol, Gov. Walker seemed philosophical about his legacy:“I’m not worried how history will remember me, because if I have my way there won’t be any history teachers.”

The real problem for the Democrats is credibility. Americans don't believe them any more. Obama promised so much more then he delivered, and their excuse is, "He didn't know how bad everything was" Well, everyone else knew. I guess he startd out behind the 8 ball.

Scott Walker wins Wisconsin recall election
Let me explain to you why this happened. When people go to the store they see prices of absolutely everything going sky high. They know they pay their taxes, and not making it very well. They work hard but cant afford much. Then the see the union people a crossed the street, Building an addition onto their home, They bought a new expensive vehicle. They see these union people making $37.00 an hour because of collective bargaining, And them making 1/2 that all the while paying for those same union people. They see their family paying into a 401 K , as the Union people get a free taxpayer paid pension. They see the corruption of these union people, and their radical leaders living high on the hog as they themselves suffer. They watch their children get not an education, but rather an indoctrination. No History class and no social studies. No drivers training, and no gym class. All the while wondering what their tax payer $$ is actually doing for society. They wonder what Harry Reid and Barney Frank do with all of that union given monies of theirs. Why do these Unions only give $$$$ to the democrat/ socialist party? What makes an aspirin at a Hospital cost $4.00. What makes a gallon of gas cost $4.00. What makes a gallon of milk cost $3.00 , what makes a box of cereal cost $5.00 a box, Unions!!!!!!! Unions drive the prices up on virtually everything, and Union people laugh and think its great They can afford anything they want But yet you cant. A 2x4 at Home Depot is $4.00 why? Ask a union. Wisconsin is just the tip of the iceberg, People in this country are super angry now, Unions and this Marxist Obama have eaten the once flourishing middle class in our country for lunch, They meaning the democrats are spying on you with Obama furnished "Drones" They seek to take from you and give to someone else, Obama term "Redistribution of wealth" aka Marxism, Better known as Obama's way of telling you he is a KING. I will not vote for a King ever in my RED WHITE AND BLUE AMERICA!!!!!
