Yeah, "tough." That is a good and intelligent answer. That mentality simply proves how wrong that position really is.
Non, the law of majority proves it.

"Tough" is what you don't understand.

Except that the Presidential nominees are worlds apart in experience and that's what counts.
Think about this...

John McCain (a 72 year old sick guy) has chosen to be one heartbeat away from the presidency...

A right-wing religious conservative with no foreign policy experience, who until recently was mayor of a town of 9,000 people.

Huh?

Who is Sarah Palin?

Here's some basic background:

* She was elected Alaska's governor a little over a year and a half ago. Her previous office was mayor of Wasilla, a small town outside Anchorage.

* Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest.

* She supported right-wing extremist Pat Buchanan for president in 2000.

* Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools.

* She's doesn't think humans are the cause of climate change.

* She's solidly in line with John McCain's "Big Oil first" energy policy. She's pushed hard for more oil drilling and says renewables won't be ready for years. She also sued the Bush administration for listing polar bears as an endangered species—she was worried it would interfere with more oil drilling in Alaska.

This is information the American people need to see.

I really don't understand his pick of this VP although I do believe he will win now. I would have rather seen Mitt, I think he did not want someone to show him up as Mitt would have. Hope he puts Mitt in as secretary of something as he is the best! Now, Romney/Palin that would have been a ticket!!

Ah, Now here's a lady this independant can get behind! She's got a real set of "ovaries" and doesn't take crap from anyone. Seems like everyone thinks McCain is going to keel over stone dead at any second. Well, I think that's wishing thinking by many. This lady looks like a real quick understudy.

As for the poster who said, "That N.R.A. crap may play in Alaska, but not on the coasts where the money is.", here's a newsflash. The N.R.A. has over 4 million members! More importantly, their spouses, parents, siblings, children, friends etc. tend to support their point of view, even though they may not be dues paying members. Guess what? Everyone of them will vote. Who do you think they'll vote for? The most anti-second amendment candidate in history? Not!

Biden couldn't even command the respect of people in this country, proven out by how many failed bids to win his parties nomination. Second, according to Dems, Obama's foreign policy inexperience meant very little in the overall scheme of things. But hey, he gives a heck of a speech. I'm sure the terrorists will all be very impressed with his ability to read a teleprompter...

Who was Barack Obama before he became a Senator? Palin has held elected office a lot longer than Obama. She may be a heartbeat away, but Obama would actually be the President. Also, her views on abortion are personal ones and, while I don't agree with them, she cannot make them law in the role of VP or even if she were to become President unless she was suddenly presented with a large number of Supreme Court nominations, which is unlikely.

That was my feeling also - 5 kids. Self-portrayed hockey mom is how they keep referring to her - that always sounds to me like someone who has a lot of time to actually spend with their kids. Especially with a Down Syndrome infant - how could she possibly have the time? What about her kids? As a mother myself I know how much time I have missed from work - and I only have 2 and they have always been very healthy.
You are comparing apples to oranges.
The upper class live differently than we do.
They use their money to do all the chores we have to deal with. They don't clean the house, do yard work, or laundry, they have personal chefs, and assistants doing their scheduling and appointments. They don't clip coupons, struggle to pay mortgages, energy bills, food bills, etc. They just live in a different world and tell us "I feel your pain".

McCain is a true American hero. He understands America was built on grit, determination, and ingenuity. Palin is a self made woman. She got to the top by using her innate smarts and talents unlike another woman who piggy backed her way to success. Palin is also married to a blue-collar oil field worker. She believes in inequality and love unlike another woman who feels she is successful simply because her husband was a success. Palin created her career, the other woman mimicked success.

There aer certain day jobs you just don't keep if you want to pay attention to your child. Nice try though.
You DON'T get a job on a cargo ship and expect time with a kid - a disabled baby at that.
We're not talking school teacher here. We're talking going on the road and being away for weeks at a time if she gets the job.
Serve your country? Well, if you're a mom you do NOT go off to fight in Iraq and then expect to be safe and there for your kid.
Get real.
I am sure you are going to get a lot of flack over your "anti-feminist" remarks, but as a full time working mother I agree with you completely!! I worked up until the day before my kids were born, and went back to work 6-7 weeks after - but there were many days where I have needed the day off for field trips, doctor visits, school events... VP is no job for a mother of young children. Especially one who describes herself as a "hockey mom"

To add to my last post, so as to educate some of the folks who only know what they read or hear from the national media.

The N.R.A. is the biggest and most efficient grass-roots organization in America. They rate all national and state candidates by their voting record on second amendment issues. They don't care about party affiliation or any other issue. I've seen them give and "F" rating to some republicans, and an "A+ to some democrats. They will post their choices for support in the next two issues of their membership magazine. They will suppliment that with millions of mailings and website updates. Their recommendations will be followed almost to perfection. Al Gore admitted on national TV, that the N.R.A. cost him his home state of Tennessee, and hence the election!

Their are 80 million firearms owners in the United States, and we all vote religiously. Be afraid, be very afraid!

If it's pregnancy that you're trying to avoid, then instead of whining about not being able to get an abortion, maybe you should keep your legs together and your trouser snake zipped up where it belongs until you're ready to have kids. Or at the very least, use a condom.
I am anti-abortion, but I think there are circumstances where it is necessary. The victims of rape and incest - especially the very young - should not be forced into fullterm pregnancies. There should also be exceptions when the mother's life is in danger. All abortions are NOT equal.

The perfect foil to Obama and will bring the female vote.
McCain may have finally carried out a master stroke with this one.
Not so fast! She is two conservative for most women. McCain is counting on women voting her because she is woman. If they do vote solely on gender then how can we say that the blacks are voting because Obama is black. Everyone knows that race is a motivating factor in black support for Obama but women would be no better. This might backfire on McCain.

She is younger than Obama. She does not have vast experience, she is only into the second year of her first term as Governor. She is prolife. Mother of five, including an infant with downs syndrome. I do not see her as a role model, who is taking care of her children? Obviously not her. McCain went for a choice hoping to entice Shrillary supporters.
Who has been raising the Obama children while Barack was working his "job" as a professinal rabble rouser (um, uh I mean "community orgainzer), and while he was "present" in the Illinois state senate?

It couldn't have been Michelle, she has been too busy working her $300K+ "job" as a "Community Affairs Director" for University of Chicago Hospital.

For those who are not familiar with that job, apparently the role of a Community Affairs Director is to:

a) Dump low income patients without health insurance on OTHER medical facilities (how LIBERAL of her).

b) Use your husband's influence to get more funding and favorable legislation for the greedy hospital.

So, just who has been raisng Sacha and Malia Obama??? Some possibilites:

a) Obama friends and proud domestic terrorists William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn?

b) Jeremiah Wright?

c) Slum lord and convicted felon Toni Rezko? I think he is the most likely choice. He helped the Obamas buy their $1.6MM mansion, so obviously has an interest in their family life.

In all seriousness, obviously the Obamas and the Palins have (like millions of other American families) have managed to raise their children while both parents work. In fact, the Palins and Obamas probably have a much easier time than most because of the resources they have to do this.

You are absolutely right Laura. I am strongly pro-choice. Behind the current economic and world issues, the second amendment and a woman's right to choose, are the things I look at most when selecting a candidate. That's why I'm an independent. You can't have everything your way with one candidate. That's why intelligent people make hard choices, as opposed to simply following one partys dogma blindly. Freedom of choice will never be outlawed in this country. Neither will the right to keep and bear arms. McCain will insure that your second amendment rights a safe. OBama will insure that your reproductive rights are safe. What issue is more important to you? Who do you trust more with one or the other? Tough choice isn't it! Just Vote!
