This company is Mexican owned and has attempted to bring the same slip-shod practices common in the third world to the USA. We are not going to look the other way.

I used to enjoy Orowheat products, but now you can't trust them.

I worked there when I was Oroweat, and it was unsafe even back then! You would get hurt on the job and wouldn't like you go to the Docters for your injuries!

Bimbo is the name of the company in Mexico.
It obviously does not mean what it means in English.
What does surprise me--- is that its not meeting Cal Osha regulations-- while having managers that are in PA.

Their Logo is a teddy bear I believe.

I find it quite business unfriendly how Cal OSHA operates. Shouldn't the company be given an order to correct (fix it ticket)by Cal OSHA then, if there is no compliance, they are then fined?

Well folks, get used to our new work environments. As long as Mexican people are in charge of what goes on in the companies, we will continue the downward spiral of work conditions. After all, any work condition here is certainly better than the conditions down south of the border. My former boss hired his "own" and allowed them free rein to do as they chose (play on the phone and computer all day and take naps) while the rest of us (caucasions) were chastised for not living up to his expectations. When they say they will retake parts of the U.S.A. they meant it. Even if it takes one job at a time. Good luck Americans!

This is what I read in the article:

"Cal/OSHA officials say Bimbo Bakeries gained their attention after prior accidents. The company has previously been cited for amputations occurring to employees due to unguarded equipment, according to Cal/OSHA."
It sounds to me like they did get warnings!

The official version has it that the name Bimbo, coined in 1945 when the company was rebranded from its previous name, Super Pan S.A., was chosen because the company thought it competed well with the existing Bambi and Dumbo brands in Mexico. In addition, the innocent, childlike name went well with the brand image they wanted to build. This is from an excerpt "Bimbo a story to believe and create." The name "Bimbo" has no specific meaning in Spanish - it is a combination of two names. In the U.S., the word "bimbo" has a negative connotation.

You had better learn to bake your own bread - Grupo Bimbo is the largest bakery in the world. They also own Sara Lee, Entenmann's, Boboli pizza crusts, Thomas English muffins, to name a few. They own Wonder bread in Mexico. The bakeries that they have purchased had problems pre-existing when they were purchased, so don't blame it on them. Cal-OSHA has fined them, and they will fix the problems. Cal-OSHA fines lots of businesses in the U.S. Even high end office buildings get fined, not just manufacturing plants. You just want to cap on them because you think like a bigot. You had the same chance to purchase Oroweat as the next guy.

Cal-Osha is there to be sure the company is following all safety practices. Why should they just give them a warning? They know there equipment is a hazard.
Now they are paying a hefty fine and still have to bring their equipment up to standards. What a bunch of idiots running that place! It ended up costing them much more than it would have if they obeyed the safety standards and had their equipment up to par.

To clear this up, i work for a bimbo factory and they do not own sara lee, nor do they own anything with wonderbread, they are our rivals, just to clarify everything.
