Hugo company fined for two sewer workers' deaths in St. Paul

Penalty phase, too late.

What crap is this. When a storm breaks out what communication is necessary? Get the hell out of the tunnel. Certainly the fines will be going to the families of the deceased? Why certainly they will. They're such a small amount that they'll do no good in the hands of the politicians anyway!

The reason they where fined so heavy is that there was no one at street level to see or know about the approaching storm. If there was they could have worned the men down in sewer that it was about to flood so they could evacuate and not drown.

Also, it was raining miles away and the water rushes down toward the river through the city...they were warned too late. No money or fines can ever replace these men. I knew Dave personally and he was a wonderful young man, his death has impacted many peoples lives, especially his parents, brother, and fiance.

$28,000 seems like a paltry sum to entice this company to become more safety oriented in the future. To me, it seems like a slap on the hand. I think the $106,600 would have been a more appropriate punishment and would have sent a stronger message.

This disgusting company deserves a way bigger fine. I rememebr this day and the weather. You had to be living in a cave to not see the huge rain storm coming. Please everyone, do not do business with this company, the deserve to go under. The owners and other jokers should be in jail for this.
