are'nt there certain safety procedures tiechert was supposed to follow to ensure the safety of these two men.Look at top management and you'll see that they are only concerned with production not safety like they claim to be all about.A concerned wife of another tiechert employee

It's more than just procedures, it also involves hours of training for the crews Members involved. First of all they would have both been more than likely still alive today if they were both wearing a harness with a retractable safety line. But most of all the backhoe that broke the water line should have never been in the area while a confined space work was taking place. Not too mention the operator of the backhoe was told to stop digging because there was a water line near his backhoe, but another foreman came over and told him to start digging because he was sure there was not a water line near them. It sad because they were heard crying for help but no rescue procedure was taken to save them. Before entering into a confined space a written rescue plan is to be planned out and talk over with the crew. I’ve been a construction Foreman for 10 years and a General Foreman for 8 years, and have been trained in confined space training for many years. But now I am Manager and safety is number one to me and it also has to be to the men in the field.
