We didn't necessarily ask permission when we forcefully took what was theirs for thousands of years. It's also very American of them to try to change the way things are here for the better. I mean I'm sure even your ancestors who came off the potato boat from Ireland did as well. It's what makes us US and not places like the dictator slums of south America.

Well I for one would expect an experience like that going into a state that was inhabited by mexico at one Time. It's the same if you go to Alaska. They were here first. No ones taken over anything it's been this way for ever. I've grown up in southern ca with lots of nationalities the most prominent being Hispanics. If you want a "white" close minded experience go to middle American states. if you thought that those people in the slums of east LA were going to stay there forever than you indeed are ignorant. It was my people who suffered earlier in the last century. But mine made it from the famine of Ireland to the slums of new York to upper middle class in California. In 15 years it will be another poor race we'll all be bitching about and yes even the Mexicans might as well.

Blame the colonialist spanish (who are the ones who deliberately brought smallpox to native american) government, the colonialist british government, and the colonialist french government, not the independent europeans who came over here to fight for freedom, who were sickened by slavery, and who just wanted peace of mind with the chance to have pace, freedon and the pursuit of happiness. Let me ask you another question? If in fact the State of Utah was made up of 85% Mormons, do you expect 85% of the legislature to be Southern Baptists?

I totally agree with you! There is no religious test regarding the presidency, or whatever things may be in thier private beliefs and practice.

In fact the founding fathers were extremely, vociferously AGAINST such a religious test or requirement.

In thier eyes, religon is a personal matter, between a man and god, not to worn on one's sleeve for appearance for votes or position or power!

Ha! I don't know about the other states but I know for a fact that Florida and Miami which is a city in Florida is doing fine.
