I think it's interesting that this Congress has not brought up a marriage amendment at all. It was a biennial favorite before 2008, even though it never gained even majority support. True, the House knows it would never pass the Senate. But that hasn't stopped them from pushing any other issues. I've said for years that the Republicans would rather have this as an issue to fight about than to actually win. Unfortunately for them, fighting is now benefiting the Democrats not the Republicans.

That cohesive organizing is what we must address and defeat. How many coordination meetings did YOU attend this week? How many of your 17 and 18 yo (new voters for the upcoming elections) were at the meetings YOU attended? How many did YOU bring to those meetings? Things are far from rosy, kids. This is as easily a galvanizing rallying point for our opposition as it is a "major" win for us. Remember, a Constitutional Amendment is the card that trumps all our efforts, and it's likelihood ebbs and flows with the radical rightwing population of our elected Representatives at all levels of Government. Fine. Crack a champagne bottle for tonight ... but dig in and get back to work in the morning. Remember, too, that Roe v. Wade is STILL not a securely settled issue. Our issues will not be in a different situation for at least a generation AFTER we get full Federal protections ... possibly longer. You're a very handsome man. From the bottom of my heart.

Yes, there's much work to be done, but justice and truth always win out in the end. The lies and hypocrisy from the right are being exposed like never before. They'll be their own undoing.

(I'm not certain that a lot of these people even have consciences. I mean ... well ... just LISTEN to them!) I don't underestimate them, even a little bit. I suspect that when their legal agenda fails them, we'll also so an increase in violence. They've deluded themselves into thinking that they are doing god's work. Or at least, that's their excuse. They're a dangerous lot. They've learned nothing from history, which is why they're constantly trying to re-write it.

Remember that youth is most-easily manipulated into violent behavior.[That's why we recruit eighteen-year-olds for the armed forces, not 35-year-olds.] And youths are less likely to feel the same level of fear and hatred toward gays.

Yes. Times are changing. It's slow, but justice usually is. It will be up to the younger generations to see through all of the nonsense. I've spoken to younger people, in the graduating class of a local high school in my area. They see gays as "no big deal", and have many openly gay students in their H.S. I graduated 30 years ago. Things have changed quite a bit since then.

Youth are actually as motivated to support change as the women's movement when we were young.

Do you have the team together that can throw a few magnet raves leading up to votes? That's what we did in our town and at the local University and Community College. Kids learn best through music and play. We also found that seeding the attendees with some attractive female spin masters had a positive result with the male attendees.

Lucky me, I drew the short stick and had to tell my extremely religious brother that his only son was gay. He took it suprisingly well all things considered. Maybe having a gay brother kinda primed the pump.

In other words, you rely on gimmicks Dole out trinkets and eye candy to get others to sell their vote

That's just how political parties always get out the vote.(They are called "parties" for a long historical reason) No trinkets given out. It's just the modern form of political rally. Other age groups have dinner/cocktail parties, etc. Podiums and speeches have their place, but why does politics have to be all dry, dull and mugging for the camera. http://www.youtube.com/watch...
