Atheist Challenges "In God We Trust" Motto

An atheist who has spent four years trying to ban the Pledge of Allegiance from being recited in public schools is now challenging the motto printed on U.S. currency because it refers to God.

what an idotic thing to protest... I believe in God and believe God made this country great... getting away from the foundation of this country... getting not so great... bummer

America was founded as a secular (non-religious) country and was not founded as a "Christian nation". This is shown by the Treaty of Tripoli, which was signed by the President and unanimously by Congress, read in major cities throughout the states and which said that the United States was not a christian nation.

"In God We Trust" was ILLEGALLY added to our coinage in 1918 during the Civil War (no where near our nation's founding) and added to our paper money in the 1950's. It is a blatant violation of Freedom of Religion because it discriminates against polytheistic and atheistic religions.
