Supreme Court To Decide Funeral Protests Case

Full story: WHNT News 19

The Supreme Court agreed Monday to decide on the outer limits of free-speech protection for public protests and to rule on whether a dead soldier's family can sue fringe religious protesters who picketed near their son's funeral with signs that said "Thank God for dead soldiers." A Maryland jury awarded $10 million in damages to Albert Snyder, ...

These are the same right wing conservative tea bag idiots. How disgraceful to disrespect a dead soldier's family.

Also see the latest news on teabaggin hypocrite Palin: "Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin -- who has gone to great lengths to hype the supposed dangers of a big government takeover of American health care -- admitted over the weekend that she used to get her treatment in Canada's single-payer system. "We used to hustle over the border for health care we received in Canada," Palin said in her first Canadian appearance since stepping down as governor of Alaska. "And I think now, isn't that ironic?"

No it is not ironic you stupid _____! It is hypocrital and stupid.

The irony, one guesses, is that Palin now views Canada's health care system as revolting: with its government-run administration and 'death-panel'-like rationing. Clearly, however, she and her family once found it more alluring than, at the very least, the coverage available in rural Alaska. Up to the age of six, Palin lived in a remote town near the closest Canadian city, Whitehorse.

Officials at several hospitals in that area declined to give out information on patient visits.

Any time you deal with stupidity on this level you have to keep in mind that most people simply don't have any common sense. A simple Bible study would teach the truth that God hates sin. ALL SIN! God loves sinners. ALL SINNERS! These protesters believe that what they are doing is right, producing change, helping people see the truth, and so on. But really it's just another example of poor teaching and leadership. Their education level is probably that of a 10 year-old. If they would start loving people, ALL PEOPLE, instead of hating them then they would see real change. While we were yet sinners,(homosexuals) Christ died for us.

Talk about off topic!! How does someone as misinformed as you function in society? No, these are NOT "rightwing" anything. I'm sorry that people fed-up with you liberal "give the country away" buttheads are upsetting you. You liberals have taken us to the edge, and we may never recover, but people are trying. I applaud the people standing up to you and your kind saying enough is enough.

The "fringe religious protesters" (as the story identifies them) are obviously deranged haters, and you're right that it's disgraceful that they would disrespect the dead soldier and his family.

However, to compare them with conservative Americans exposes you as a hater, too....and that makes you the protesters' kissin' cousin.

Protesting ANY funeral is sick in my opinion, but I still believe that it is protected speech. I think that the Supreme Court will decide in this way as well.

The Westboro religious nut group DOES NOT have a political affiliation. They protest to be seen and heard. They are really not even relgious. I was at a funeral they were protesting, they are #$%^ing nuts and should be run out of the country for treason, among other crimes!!!

I believe everyone has their own rights to believe what they want. Just like the KKK have the right to believe they are right and everything. But when you try to push your beliefs on me or invade my space that's when I have a problem with it. I have many black friends that I have told the same thing to. That is the KKK's, Mormons or anyone's rights but when you push and push your thinking into my space that is when I draw the line. No one should protest a funeral even if it was of a gay person or anyone else. They are now dead and everyone is trying to move on the best way they can without anyone pushing crap at us.

It is not just funerals they protest. They protest anything that has to do with the military, gays, most all movies and music, most anything to do with Hollywood, they have protested many college and high school graduation events. So maybe the Supreme Court will rule against them. I hope & pray to God they do!!

As first generation American, I think what these people are doing is despicable. I sincerely hope that the Supreme Court decides that funeral protests are NOT covered under the First Amendment.
To all our veterans and active service personnel, I have a huge debt of gratitude that I can never repay. Believe me, I am truly grateful for your sacrifices. I cannot express the depth of gratitude, except to say THANK YOU!

Even though I hate and disagree with what they do the outcome is pretty simple either you have freedom of speech is protected under the Constitution and Bill of Rights for everyone and everything or freedom of speech for no one. One can't have it both ways.

Betya the Court finds it's free speech just as yelling fire in a theater is free speech. There is a time and place. And during the funeral, in the face of the soldiers family is NOT the time and place.

I would take aim and shoot a couple of them if they were at my loved ones funeral. That would stop them one way or another. They have not run into the right father yet! Right to bear arms VS. free speech!
