What kind of crap decision is this? Thesse are a family of nut case lawyers who just cause trouble for good people.
What judge would do this to a grieving father? They have no legal fees anyway.
I am embarassed to be living where they put up with this crap. This man's son defended our country and to see his father treated like this is totally wrong.
Maryland 4th Circuit Court should have their judge removed who made this stupid and horrendous decision.
I wonder if he has a son defending our country? I think probably not and he definitely has his priorities in the wrong place.

If this man gets burned with having to pay the appeals costs, does anyone know how a fund could be set up for donations from others who want to help him? This is just beyond my being able to understand it. They had no business at the son's funeral. It's called common decency and respect for others. Now they are going to slap the young man's family in the face even more? That is wrong on so many levals! Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!

We are doomed as a country. We have no sound legal system any more. We have no decency or common sense. We consume and consume and now produce less and less. SS is bankrupt. Our president is an arrogant, narcissistic elitist. Our congress is corrupt. Our kids are drug-addicted crybabies. Our once-proud military is manipulated by the gay and lesbian element. Decent people are trampled while whackos triumph. What the hell happened to our country?

This is outrageous. How can a person with reasonable intelligence suggest that a father who has lost his son, has been harassed by an unruly crowd,
is suffering the loss of a child be faced with this added burden? The court that made this decision should be impeached. If these dodo's are elected they should be removed from office at the polls, the public needs to address the wrong that this stupid court has done to this man. Shame on them.

I would not be surprised if some vets who served with those killed did not attend future picketing.

Fred is going to eventually hit a deeper nerve with some of them.

He's a dick, his free speech should be censored. If anything this is indecent and there are worse indecency laws all over this country.

This is a free country. Was it inappropriate? Depends on which side of the fence you are on. Was it a crime? Not according to the 1st amendment.

The amendments are for EVERYONE, whack jobs included.

Good call judge.

If he was a grieving father, he would be doing just that, grieving. He would not be entangling himself in legal matters. Legal matters cost money. NO ONE should have to go to financial expense exercising his 1st amendment, or any amendment for that matter, NOONE!

Absolutely ridiculuos. I really hope the TV Media nation wide pitches this story and hopefully someone wealthy will suppoert him to appeal it further up the court.
This judge is probably high paid, living in a safe home with all the benefits in the world while Marines and Army are fighting overseas to protect this judge and other Americans.
Shame on you judge how can you face anyone in our country anymore..

Fred never goes out. It's the rest of the freak club and their fans that venture out. Sadly, what is left of the original family is educated and know all the loop-holes of the law to survive. Before long, the gene pool will finally dry out.

This sad case all around. The US Supreme Court will address these 2 issues. 1. Does the 1st Amendment's freedom of speech tenet trump the 1st Amendment's freedom of religion & peaceable assembly? 2. Does an individual attending a family member's funeral constitute a captive audience who is entitled to state protection from unwanted communication?

This is a miscarriage of justice. I fervently hope the supreme court reverses the Fourth Circuit Court's decision. The creeps who disrupted this man's son's funeral are thugs who now are given the green light to emotionally mug anyone under the pretext of freedom of speech. Perhaps we are now free to yell"fire" in a crowded theater. It's free speech as well under this terrible decision.

The people demanded some tort reform, the people got some tort reform and one of the reforms we got with it is what is known as loser pays. In an effort to clear congestion from the federal appeals courts and to curb so-called frivolous lawsuits, one of the changes that have been implemented is that the loser on an appeal has to pay the court costs for it. I feel sorry for the Snyder family in all of this, but they never had what should have been a winnable case in the first place and losing the appeal for a case that they shouldn't have won means he has to pay for it , sadly.

As ugly and as mean-spirited as the Phelps Family Freak Show of Hate is when they show up at the worst possible moment, if we are truly to be a nation that respects the right to free speech, they have every right to be there. Having suffered with their antics on more than one occasion and at a much closer range than this family had to, I can speak from unfortunate experience. These monsters are hurtful and ugly and I wouldn't wish them on someone I hated, but if the courts are to punish them for what they say, what is going to prevent us from being punished when someone takes offense at what we have to say? If Fred and his adorable family loses the right to say "God Hates Fags" and "Thank God For Another Dead Soldier", how quick do we lose the right to call their little Freak Show "church" the sick and sadistic scum of the Earth that they really are?
