I wish Va. was not fighting the mandate. We need the health insurance reform. We need everyone to be responsible. With current bank rupsy law those who have nothing to lose do not worry about paying their medical bills. This effects access to care when you need to make payments after a procedure and effects the cost of medicine for those who work to pay their bills. We need all of the reforms in the bill eventually everyone gets sick and needs care. We all need to be responsibe. We are in this together.

Having just attended a two day seminar on Health Care Law, I believe that the Health Care Reforms (Obamacare to those of you opposed) accomplished many needed changes. I hope that those get a chance to work. I hope that the Supreme Court and the Republicans in Congress do not "Throw out the baby with the bath water."

If you're an Attorney, they you, more than most would know that Obamacare did nothing to bring about any cost controls, making healthcare more affordable to all. Where is the Tort reform that costs so much and lawyers hate? Where are expansion of options, like HSA, FSA's, and catastrophic care coverage? What do 150 additional Federal agencies have to do with improved care? Why are there incentives for companies to drop employee coverage and just pay the fines? Why does this law further insulate customers from costs? Why have over 1000 politically connected waivers being granted? Why did Legislators exempt themselves from inclusion?

What raises costs more than anything else? Making it "free"

This isn't bathwater that needs to get thrown out,
it's toilet water.
And I don't mean eu de cologne!

cjrian, you are correct. Anytime I here the gov't use the word "free" my wallet cries out in pain!
I work with a dozen or so businesses and speak with many of the HR directors. They tell me how the HC law has made dealing with insurance a nightmare. Costs are going through the roof and the paperwork that is being required is time consuming. I have seen my HC Insurance go up 25% since the HC law was enacted. There is no baby in the bathwater, it's a floater in the bowl. Throw it all out and start cracking down on waste, fraud and implement TORT reform.

Your article states that "lives have been saved" but at what cost? Have you checked the latest medical insurance rates? Have you checked to see how many employers have let people go because the company cannot afford the medical insurance? There are NO FREE rides in this life, someone must pay and it looks as if the taxpayer will pay again. Welcome to socialism.

You beat me to that. I agree with you. What a ridiculous statement this was.

This fiasco is crippling our economic recovery as employers have no idea what the impact on their financial obligations will be. Why hire more full-time people when you don't know what you will be required to provide or what your tax obligation will be to support this "massive overhaul"?

Wake up liberals. This is way too much of a reach. Obama just wanted to make his mark and you suckers believe all he promised.

we murder the unborn, thus it is only a small step to deny help to the elderly, then does it become denying help based on hair color,or complexion, or eye color or lefthandedness or length of eyelashes, or any number of a million other stupid reasons.

Top ten failures of Obamacare after one year:
http://www.humanevents.com/article.php...

Here’s a Killer Story About Socialized Medicine and Families:
http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/...

Obamacare is just a vehicle to subordinate the American public under full government control of our lives, this is what our founders warned us of.....

"A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have."Thomas Jefferson

"I place economy among the first and most important republican virtues, and public debt as the greatest of the dangers to be feared. To preserve our independence, we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt." ---Thomas Jefferson

"The Fascist conception of the State is all-embracing; outside of it no human or spiritual values can exist, much less have value. Thus understood, Fascism is totalitarian, and the Fascist State--a synthesis and a unit inclusive of all values--interprets, develops, and potentiates the whole life of a people...The Fascist State lays claim to rule in the economic field no less than in others; it makes its action felt throughout the length and breadth of the country by means of its corporate, social, and educational institutions, and all the political, economic, and spiritual forces of the nation, organised in their respective associations, circulate within the State."Benito Mussolini, 1935, The Doctrine of Fascism....

"There is no one so blind then those that surrender commonsense for ideology." DC Longbow.

I've already seen my parents denied care because it's too expensive and their age does not justify the cost. The words came from the insurance company they paid into all their lives. At least a "political hack" has more incentive to take care of me than and "insurance company hack" whose bonus is tied to profits generated by denied claims.

Do you think that the new healthcare bill is designed to provide for the best interests of the citizens? Well, read this:
http://money.cnn.com/2011/03/25/news/economy/...
Over a billion dollars spent by the health care industry in a two year period indicates that the bill represents the interests of the health care industry and not the citizens. The corrupt congressmen who voted for the bill clearly violated their sworn duty to serve the citizens who elected them.

It's sad how ignorant the supporters of this farce are that they do not realize all this does is force everyone to buy insurance and does nothing to empower the patient. Good idea but this did nothing to solve the problem!

I agree with your post, I dont agree on why everyone has to have healthcare a lot of people no matter how hard persuaded will still not want to have healthcare insurance in any shape or form. Although on the other hand I feel having healthcare is a great thing to have especially if you have a issue pop of and need medical care but cant afford it because you decided not to buy any healthcare. I understand a lot of people cannot afford healthcare insurance but that doesnt mean we dont need the coverage, I feel that the government should at least make healthcare affordable to all types and groups of people, otherwise nobody will be able to afford healthcare like they want us to.
