Judges ask Supreme Court to hear New Haven case

why can't people who scored the highest get promoted regardless of race? new haven is pathetic in its attempts to apease minorities

you either know the correct information about being a firefighter and you get a promotion. If they did not score high enough, do they qualify to be firefighters in the first place. Race has nothing to do with your ability do succeed at your job. I hope the judge has common sense and rules in favor of the 20 hard working men who proved they deserve a promotion.

Not for anything, I would rahter have someone who is well qualified no matter what the race, color or creed instructing their peers on how to save me!! Obviously the people who did not score high enough should not be promoted.....why should the people who studied their butts off and actually learn and understand the text be discredited??? The firefighters who scored well obviously know their stuff and are more than qualified to lead the department....but lets have someone who is less qualified cry like a baby and get their own way and completely destroy whatever morale is left in the NHFD...way to get your fellow firefighters to look up to and respect you!!!

Lets see the test, New Haven. What exactly made it unfair to Blacks, but ok for Hispanics and Whites. I didn't realize fires could be racists, or turned into racism. This is a pathetic gesture on NH's part. Cosntantly standing up for blacks is going to destroy NH. Everyman for himself, no need to give preferential treatment to one group - that is patently unfair.

Unfortunately the people who should be running the department, you know, the ones who actually know and love what they do, don't have the opportunity to b/c of the political aspect of the stupid hiring/promotion process. The political idiots have to make sure that the hiring and promoting is racially balanced (P.S whinig and crying is not going to gain respect).....How about we hire and promote those that are truly qualified to do the job!! DUH!! There's an idea!!

It seems no one among the public is taking the City of New Haven's side in this case - goes to show ya how out of touch these liberal judges are. The above poster hit the nail on the head - liberals are warped and suffer from a mental disorder. Probably some childhood trauma or some such crap which makes them angry and bitter toward everything that is good in this country, including its traditions, among them: EARNING your way up, not demanding it be handed to you. The ones who didn't bother studying and who failed whined. That's what liberal judges love to listen to: whiners. Behind every left wing judge is someone who used to get beaten up at recess in the fourth grade.

The funny thing about this is that there were quite a few "minorities" & caucasians that did not score very well and they didn't whine, or complain or sue anyone, they took it like big boys and girls, sucked it up and chalked it up to the need to study harder the next time around.....they didn't play the race card!!!

BRAVO - good point. The losers, whiners and lazies are always the troublemakers, costing expensive lawsuits and soaking the taxpayers. But playing the race card in this country has become a profitable thing - which is why all the parasites are backing Obama.

I cannot believe there is a city full of judges; who have denied all of your civil rights. You are the ones I see whining. You will "CRY" to the U.S. Supreme Court before allowing any AA to achieve in the EuroState. I'm sure the latins you speak of are nice and obedient, like a pet, the way CT likes them to be.

Trust me, you cannot, BEGIN to know what having your Civil Rights being denied to you, is about.
For example, if you were black (in CT) you would have been denied your Habeas corpus; which would have resulted in your case NEVER seeing the light of a courtroom. Now that's being denied civil rights. What is this, your third time around with a different group of Judges? Must be nice.

Again, in a State which denies Civil Rights and Habeas corpus to AA's so freely and openly; here are CA (Caucasian Americans), "crying" that their civil rights are being denied to them.

On the other hand, I have great respect for the job you do; and give you tremendous credit for having the courage to do it because I would not run towards danger, I like most people, would run away from it. I'll be watching for the decision.

Thanks idiot. Keep up this line of thought and you'll qualify for Chief. You take a moron who got a 60 on the test and put them over someone who got a 97 because of race. Well damn public safety as long as no ones feelings are hurt. So when that well qualified African American does come along and get the job on his merit alone, what do you think the public response will be? Oh, we know how you got your job Mr. Quota. This type of garbage is what prevents ANY minority from ever being taken at face value as a qualified individual. If you can't pass the test- try again. If they sued to get the job because they were unqualified, it's only right the qualified people sue for the effort they put into passing it, black or white.

The Post of EliWatcher is a bit convoluted and tends to ramble. My posts are from my perspective. Personally, I don't know that I ever filled any Afirmative Action or EEOC quota. Contrary to popular belief some AA's want to know that we were given the position BECAUSE I WAS BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE THAT APPLIED. Not because of my color or because of my being a woman.

However, in RACIST, foreign lands, like CT, I see how Afirmative Action is necessary.

All any "AA" had to do to "achieve" here is do whatever everyone ELSE is required to do: pass the damn test. You don't take advantage of it; you don't pick up a goddamn book and read, you fail tests and then you blame the "Europeans" or "Whitey".
