Cannot believe we can burn our president's image, step on and do far worse to the American flag, keep all reference of certain religious holidays away from schools but we cannot criticize a school administration and its policies.

Hallelujah!!!!!!!!!
A "must read" before you comment: http://www.ca2.uscourts.gov :8080/isysnative/RDpcT3BpbnNcT 1BOXDA3LTM4ODUgLWN2X29wbi5wZGY =/07-3885%20-cv_opn.pdf#xml=ht tp://www.ca2.uscourts.gov:8080 /isysquery/irl173f/3/hilite If you read the court case, you will discover that Avery is not concerned with your free speech, she is a disrespectful, unremorseful liar, feeding on the notoriety, out for her personal and monetary gain (she sought damages). The administration is not policing the internet. I want them "teaching students the boundaries of socially appropriate behavior.” If it were my kid, I would have been mortified and would never have aired this in the public forum. We have freedom to behave poorly, but with that freedom comes consequences for our behavior. |

Agree with LSM Parent. Mama Lauren has vowed to take this before a jury. My best guess is that she will try to get money to pay her attorney as she obviously did not have the money to file the appeal. She had a website for donations to defray her litigation costs AND held a fundraiser to help with the cause. Class Act all the way around!

I read the decision. What Avery said is mild compared to the garbage on conservative talk radio. She could have gone about it differently, but her peers elected her despite the school's efforts to save face. Who taught whom a lesson here?

Trash is messy business, white or otherwise. So is life, for that matter, and especially for those who make it their mission to lord over others. Sir Isaac, third law and such, would probably agree. Funny, if Avery had so cleverly employed asterisks as her critics here, we would have nothing to discuss. I will stand proudly beside her, be it trailer park, or Senate floor. Her "fifteen minutes" may have to be measured in leap years.
