Anti-Wall Street Protests Spread to Other Cities

Oct 3, 2011 | Posted by: Mr_Bill | Full story: www.nytimes.com

Three weeks into a protest against corporate abuses and Wall Street power that has led to hundreds of arrests in New York, similar demonstrations are popping up in other cities across the country with the aid of social media and with the same loosely organized structure as the original demonstration.

Yes,

But they have no clue what they are protesting about. Their clueless on the financial markets and who controls the entire scam. They are also co-opted liek the Tea Party was hijacked by the Republican establishment, the OWS group has been hijacked by the Democrat machine.

Their calling for the force of government to collapse the big banks, all the while they are clueless regarding the Federal reserve.

They are ignorant, dumb, and have no clue what they are doing.

Its amazing that these protestors are calling for goverment to come and slap the banksters. But they fail to realize that it is the banksters that control the government. So you fail.

Nothing quite like a bunch of anarchists and Communists marginalizing all those holders of securities. It's happened before in America and it resulted in what should happen again... the Palmer raids. It's time for rational people realizing how things actually work to reassert their power to control these bastards.

You're both right and wrong.

The spoiled brats down at Wall street have no idea what they're protesting...except that they think they should be given "more."

On the other hand, regardless of the many desperate lies told by those who fear it, the Tea Party remains true to it's central goals of smaller government and lower taxes.

They are misguided, in that only working peole would be inconvenienced by shutting down the Brooklyn Bridge, but their message is true.

And the tea party is true to its roots; but those roots are controlled by the Koch brothers. The tea-party is a bunch of yahoos working to make the rich richer, and destroy the American middle-class; being driven by their underlying racism and stupidity and ignorance.

Haha! By the made-up, desperate lies you anti-capitalism Socialist whores tell, it's obvious that you fear the Tea Party...and you should, because we're not going to back off from our demands for smaller government and lower taxes.

As for the whiners on Wall Street, you're lying abut that, too. Have you heard them? The only thing they do know about why they're protesting is that, like you, they hate America's capitalist system. Other than that, they sound like a bunch of children whining because mommy won't buy them more candy.

Protesting against private sector job creation and money in general doesn't seem to be the best idea considering the state of the economy.

Maybe they should just go home until they can find a more appropriate target.

A few months ago, I caught the tail end of an interview starring our very own Al Gore. He was telling the interviewer that he thought it would be appropriate, or words to that effect, that Americans took a page out of the "Arab Spring" playbook and take to the streets to make their demands. This is the same Al Gore, in his promotion of Global Warming/Climate Change, who advised school children to disregard the views of their parents, uninformed, nearly extinct dinosaurs all, and listen to him and the pearls of wisdom that infinitely drop from his lips.

I caught a few clips of some of the young people who are occupying Wall Street and other strategic locations and like some other posters, cannot see any cohesive goal or philosophy in their protests. Some seem to be environmentalists. Others are anti-capitalists.Some have bought into the "tax the rich" strategy to redistribute wealth. Others are angry because of the paucity of employment, even for college graduates. Without a consensus or commonality of goals, they seem to be a motley crew for the sake of being a motley crew.Unlike the participants in Arab Spring, they are not risking all to evince defined change.

Perhaps old Al did get his point across in his interview..."get out there and protest, even if you have no idea what you are protesting." Civil unrest brings change, of course, but unlike the great movements of the past, such as the demand for women's suffrage, or the Civil Rights movement of the '60's, there is no coherent message, no acknowledged leadership and no plan for positive change.

As the weather changes, the protestors will eventually peel off and wander back home to Mom and Dad, smug in the erroneous belief that they have taken part in something momentuous. Those who have been inconvenienced by their presence will remember them as having been nothing more than a malodorous public nuisance.

These protesters have been there for days with barely any media coverage. Their persistence is paying off. Whether their economic theories about the cause of the recession are right or wrong, at least they are trying to do something about it.

Politicians would be foolish to dismiss this movement--if the Democrats are smart they will hijack this movement the way the Republicans hijacked and corrupted the Tea Party movement.

One of the big themes of the Occupy Wall Street protests is the fact that Wall Street has way too much influence and power over the federal government.

Well, the Obama administration is absolutely packed with ex-executives of giant corporations and big Wall Street banks. Earlier this year, Michael Brenner wrote the following about the current composition of the Obama administration….

Wall Street’s takeover of the Obama administration is now complete. The mega-banks and their corporate allies control every economic policy position of consequence. Mr. Obama has moved rapidly since the November debacle to install business people where it counts most. Mr.William Daley from JP Morgan Chase as White House Chief of Staff. Mr. Gene Sperling from the Goldman Sachs payroll to be director of the National Economic Council. Eileen Rominger from Goldman Sachs named director of the SEC’s Investment Management division. Even the National Security Advisor, Thomas Donilon, was executive vice president for law and policy at the disgraced Fannie Mae after serving as a corporate lobbyist with O’Melveny & Roberts. The keystone of the business friendly team was put in place on Friday. General Electric Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Immelt will serve as chair of the president’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness.

Tell the cops pepper spray won't be enough. If the protesters can endure a speech by Roseanne Barr, they can endure anything!
