I have a son that is on this medication, subutec. What I have found is that the medication does not work for him but rather he works the medication.
He can take this medicine in the morning and by night he is using heroin again. Therefore, not an opiate blocker if this does not cause him to get sick like suboxene would. We would initially told he would get very sick if he uses on this medication. Well that isn't true if you wait long enough. Therefore, it is a waste of money and time since it gives no ill effect and just covers up his illegal drug use.

marie you need to get his dr to prescribe suboxone and not subtex.the subtex that he is on does not have the blocker agent naloxone in it while suboxone does have it.once on suboxone he will not get high as he is doin now.good luck,i myself take suboxone and cannot get high off of anything no matter how hard i try, which is a good thing.your son is not on the right medication and also he may need to go up in mgs to calm his cravings.call the dr asap.

My daughter and her boy friend are both on suboxone. They both saw a privet doctor who weened them off the Ocycontin Then put them on the suboxone. They have not used in three months and that is amazing considering what options there are on the street every day. Thank God that it is covererd by insurence in this case at least.

I take suboxone daily. It changed my life. If only it cold be less expensive. However, even at the pharmacy price, it beats the amount one may spend on street drugs or methadone clinics, depending of course, on your city and clinic. I believe that suboxone will help many opiate-addicted people. I do not know what I would have done if I did not find my doctor who prescribed Suboxone for me. To me, it is a miracle drug and should be less expensive. Thank you.

I have personally taken saboxone and can tell you all that it is NOT THE ANSWER. It is great for short term relief of opiate withdrawal and can save your life if that is what you are suffering from. However, i know a few people who have had it prescribed to them for long periods of time and it ruined there life and led to relapses when they got offit. See their are two problems with saboxon, the first being that you become dependant on it and it can be very difficult to ween off of. This means that someone prescribed to saboxon is replacing their old bad habit with a new legal bad habit. Pharmaceutical companies should be advising this drug to be used only for short term and not long term use that makes them money and screws peoples life. The second problem is that while on saboxon one becomes very lazy, highly unmotivated, and cannot do physical activity. The saboxon basically just turns you into a user of a different legal drug that masks peoples abuse problems instead of getting to the root of it. Saboxon has helped millions with short term relief (myself included) but it is not the amazing answer that everyone is looking for and should never be used for long periods of time. It can be easily abused by crushing it up or taking high dosages of it. And if you have never taken it before, you are guranteed to get violently sick from it.
It only works if a person really wants to quit a drug habit.

From what I've seen - it helps the person take the first steps to quit by curbing withdrawls. Then it's up to them to stay away from drugs when they start weaning off.

This story makes it sound like people are buying it illegaly to get high. Maybe there is an exception to the rule, but most if not all people can not get high off suboxone. My husband took it. It inhibited pain meds from even working.

Most doctors can't prescribe it. My husband had to go to a psychiatrist that charged $150 to get the script. No wonder people are buying it off the streets. I know people that buy antibiotics illegaly too, that doesn't mean they are abusing them.
